Ghost.
Groundhog Day.

I can't make up mind which one of these two I like more. It depends on my mood.

Thank you for asking this question.

My favorite movie of all time, which i first saw on the big screen when it was released in 1965 and i wish they would play it in the theaters again because it is so beautiful, is Dr. Zhivago.  It has raw sexual passion, love, rape, revolution, war and Director, David Lean's breathtaking panoramic cinematography set during the Russian Revolution.  i was 9 years old and my mom took me with her to see it and it was magical.

i love this movie and watch it at least once a year.

Some Memorable Quotes from the Movie:

Komarovski: There's another kind (of woman). Not high-minded, not pure, but alive. Now, that your tastes at this time should incline towards the juvenile is understandable; but for you to marry that boy would be a disaster. Because there's two kinds of women. There are two kinds of women and you, as we well know, are not the first kind. You, my dear, are a slut.

Komarovski: Who are you to refuse my sugar? Who are you to refuse me anything?

Zhivago: What happens to a girl like that, when a man like you is finished with her?
Komarovski: You interested?
Zhivago: You shouldn't smoke. You've had a shock.
[he pulls the cigar from Viktor's mouth, tosses it into the toilet]
Komarovski: I give her to you, Yuri Andreevich. Wedding present.

Gen. Yevgraf Zhivago: I told myself it was beneath my dignity for arresting a man for pilfering firewood. But nothing ordered by the party is beneath the dignity of any man, and the party was right: one man desperate for a bit of fuel is pathetic; five million people desperate for a bit of fuel will destroy a city. That was the first time I ever saw by brother, but I knew him and I knew I would disobey the party. Perhaps it was the tie of blood between us, but I doubt it. We were only half-tied anyway. Indeed as a policeman I would say, get hold of a man's brother and you're halfway home. Nor was it admiration for a better man than me. I did admire him, but I didn't think he was the better man. Besides, I've executed better men than me with a small pistol.

Gen. Yevgraf Zhivago: You're an impatient generation.
Engineer: Weren't you?
Gen. Yevgraf Zhivago: Yes, we were, very. Oh, don't be so impatient, Comrade Engineer. We've come very far, very fast.
Engineer: Yes, I know that, Comrade General.
Gen. Yevgraf Zhivago: Yes, but do you know what it cost? There were children in those days who lived off human flesh. Did you know that?

well, being the horror movie junkie that I am, I have to say the Exorcist......I must have seen it 20 times, and the new directors cut made my skin crawl.....the part where she comes down the stairs....OMG!!!  I can't watch it in the dark, nor can i watch it all in one sitting.......what they did without all the modern CGI methods was amazing.  Saw it in the theatre in 76, my dad took 6 of us girls....he slept theu the last 45 minutes....I didn't sleep for two weeks!

KatyLied -> RE: What is your absolute favourite movie of all time? (3/7/2007 11:40:38 AM)

Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth version)
The Silence of the Lambs (I know that's not a popular choice, but I find forensic psychology, even if it's fictional, interesting, I liked the acting and dialog, and I liked the Jack Crawford wanting to be Clarice's daddy undertones).

Ok...besides the one's that I already said, there are quite a few that I would rank at the very top as being just down right excellent.

The Thirteenth Warrior
Desperado
No One Knows ( a movie about a group of children who are left alone for months at a time by their mother )
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ( not the english version )
Empire of the Sun
Memoirs of a Geisha
Kingdom of Heaven

I am sure that there are more, but these readily come to mind.

Thank you for mentioning that.  It's an epic of a movie.  I remember the costumes and scenery and lots of love.

Breakfast At Tiffanys.
Closely followed by Face Off  and Ace Ventura When Nature Calls.. that scene in the rhino...priceless!

womanworshipper -> RE: What is your absolute favourite movie of all time? (3/7/2007 12:38:57 PM)

Absolute favourite movie of all time has to It's a Wonderful Life. Every scene a set-piece of all of it's own: how George Bailey saves his brother from drowning, the old man sending someone poison by mistake, Buffalo Girl, dancing as the swimmimg pool opens...And the film's only just started. There is so much in it you see something new every time.

i cry so much my face gets de-hydrated and yet i'm happy, not sad. i become an atheist who believes in angels. Or do i? Maybe there is a certain sadness in my tears in that when it's all over i realise life's not really like that and We/we won't all be saved...Still it's a great film.
