Just a curiosity question I know that for me I have been reading the message boards for quite some time now. Over the last few years There have been some people here I am amazed with. I admire very much. Some people I just really liked from the get go of there first post. Those I would keep an eye on because I was truly interested in what they had to say.  As months went on There came that day when suddenly a couple of those people make a post and well....  It just does not sound like the same person. I continue to read their posts, however, as even more time passes this person seems to have changed dramatically from how they were when they first started to post on the board.   Is this their real self (I know we hate the word real) but which person is this? Was the person they seemed to be in the beginning wearing a mask? have you ever really liked a poster then see a totally different person a few months later? Does your attitude/opinion toward them change? Why or how do you think this change in them came about? There are a couple right now whom I used to look forward to. Now I cant believe how different they appear and what they post. Very disappointing

As individuals get older and supposedly wiser, their view points can change. Experience can alter views. Collarme is full of advice and information and this can dramatically change how you used to think about certain topics.

Its the same people you once knew, just more experienced.

There are posters who love to prattle
Oft I’ve engaged in fray
The ones who make me berserk
Are not the ones who hound prey
Or even the domly jerk
But the little girls who feel they must tattle

The issue may be
As some can plainly see
Are the Mods who accuse
Or the posters who abuse
Until even the hardcore
Give up for sure

Without even a good night
We surrender the fight
Tired of the bullshit
We give up that’s it
Even Valkaries you see
Tire rapidly
Of being forced to post PC!

We retire tothe bastion of our station
To avoid accusation
Prefering the suzerain
Of our Masters
To the supercilious bastards
That turn serious posts into the wreck of a train

I think some posters (like me) get frustrated when they continually are subjected to other poster's nonsense and stupidity.  I try to look at posts within the context of the thread.  But I admit there are posters whom I've categorized as "message board noise" and they will probably never be able to elevate themselves to a higher level.

And then there are those posters who only complain about how other posters complain.  Right Katy?

Hmm it is interesting...

I went back to a post I made years ago, one of my first here about submitting to poly and bisexual expectations.

I have drastically changed my position since then, and I am more than certain that many would find my place now to be less sublimely slavey.

But my position now is based on the reality of having submitted to that (for all the right reasons) rather than my desire to please the person whom I was so desperately in love with and surrendered to.  There does come a point where you have to understand that until you are a whole and defined 'you', 'you' really are not giving anyone anything all that special by just submitting to things which are destructive.

I guess you change and grow and really, whether it disappoints others or not, if you know it to be the best 'you', that is all that matters.  I know I certainly do not post her to gain some sort of online cult following, and I doubt most others do either.

People grow, and growth often requires change.

I believe that I have been the same person from the start until now.

No, I haven't noticed such changes in posters. Perhaps that is because many do not have a sufficiently large impact on me to become a memorable person in my mind. There are some that do, though.

What bothers me is that some people disappear. There was once a girl that called herself platypus, for example. I have not read a post by sizzytoserve in a long time either.

In the question that you are asking...I've only noticed on liar change their spots.  Yet, I know the liar is still behind the drive so it doesn't bother me.  One can only keep up with it for so long before a person bursts back into their old stuff.
There are very few on these boards who I read religiously what they post.  The rest well, they haven't made any impression.  When talking to my friends on the board...they will mention a name.  I've never heard of before then when I do a search on it, that person may have posted 500 times.  Although they were nothing but ordinary so I never noticed them there.

I do miss some of the old timers but most of them I know where they went so it isn't bad.

Once having their hypocrisy and fraud outed they try to re-invent themselves. Often though they go back under their rock, or move away...to another site.

I can certainly understand what you are saying... I notice changes, as well.

There are posters who start out posting only well thought out and helpful advice in the general forums, but gradually migrate to the more innane chatter of "random stupidity"; there are ones who seems to burst onto the scene all bristling with challenges and defensiveness, only to settle in once they get to know people here; some, like myself, once had time to dig deep and present heart-felt opinions, but now settle for shorter comments that may not completely express my thoughts.

The reasons for the changes are as diverse as the people themselves.  They may have started out curious and unsure and have grown more knowledgable and confident.  They may have begun on sure footing, but had their confidence shaken.  They may have outside influences guiding their responses (watchful doms come to mind).  Their personal journey may be leading them to bitterness or taking them away from this medium altogether.  Some appear to have become addicted to attention and now post anything to meet that need.  I'm sure there are those who've had their questions answered and continue to post only to maintain the ties they've developed here.

I always assume that we are never seeing the "whole" person to begin with... after all, the tiny bits we post here only reflect what we each have the ability to convey with words.  From moment to moment, how we express ourselves is easily affected by our personal "real-life" circumstances and our emotional states.

But yes, I get disappointed, too.  I think the ones that bother me the most are submissives who start out posting intelligent and confident opinions, but after finding a dom their contributions become obsequious comments about how "my Master says this" or trite platitudes like "i live to serve Him because His pleasure is mine".

edited because I don't do the upper/lower case thingy very well.

I know i've changed.  I used to read every thread and respond to most of them and do searches for people.  Now i don't have time for that.  I only read the threads that either look very interesting or that might apply to my situation. I especially avoid the ones that are just nonsense chat back and forth with nothing to do with the OP.

Edited to add--also so many topics have been rehashed over the years that i don't read or respond to those threads anymore. This is not a criticism, i know the newbies need to ask the same questions that i asked 3-4 years ago.

i've changed as well.  When i came here to begin with, i was ill-informed on many levels and thus, insensitive to M/many.  i suppose it still happens, but hopefully less often.  It's the education and thought-provoking threads i like the best.

Sometimes it's you growing into things and seeing a new perspective.  Sometimes it's them growing into a new style.  I post a lot more quickie posts now that I have my key points down pat and people like MasterFireMaam and owned and Kyra can speak for me a lot of the time :)

People grow, and growth often requires change.

I should of been clearer. I am not dissappointed because some one changed as in -growth of being sub or Dom or person in general -became more experienced, learned some thing new-  became more aware of what they wanted - bettered themselves - took a new look at some thing they might not of liked or understood.

I meant it as- People who seemed to be very open- kind- not rude or pushy- seemed truthful-  genuinely offered advice or stated their opinion ( with out it coming off as if everyone else was wrong) wrote very interesting- thought provoking replies

I've seen a couple now whose posts are now showing signs of- closed minded- nasty- snippy answers that in no way helps- belittling- cant be bothered to give a  teaspoon of  (perhaps) what could be  helpful to some one.Given different answers to same question ( with out stating it is because they have changed their mind about it.

I'm not complaining about it- nor am I any sort of  CMPoster cult follower. I am only curious as to, if others  you might of thought alot of, have changed in this sort of way.
That's all no biggie

Well.  lol.  Funny stuff.

The reason I say that is this.  The internet is the ultimate world of frauds.  Every single poster on here has skeletons in their closet.  Every single one on here has mitigating forces in their life that drives them to do what they do.  The biggest joke of late on this forum was that whiny ass thread in Random Stupidity asking why people were making whiny posts or something like that.  That was the biggest farce on Collarme.  Why do people do stupid shit like that?

Believe it or not, contrary to what most people on this board think, it is not all about you.  People are people.  They have their reasons.  Moods.  Financial pressures.  Marital problems.  Interpersonal relationship problems.  All kinds of things, and this significantly affects the way they communicate with others.

Let me give you an example.  Me.  I do not like most people being within my space.  I want them at arm's length.  I do not care about them, and thus I do not want them in my personal space.  Plus, I get moody sometimes.  I have had some ouside factors pressing down on me and it affects the way I interact with others.  Plus, stupidity pisses me off.  I hate stupid people.  Period.  So, I do not hesitate to tell them to fuck off.  Also, I am brutally honest.  I will say things exactly the way it is.  If they do not like it, they should not have asked the question on a public forum.  I do not mince words.  I am not politically correct.  I am blunt and to the point.  Now, factor in when I am stressed.  I tend to get aggressive against stupidity and whiny bitches.  People that post completely moronic bullshit just to get some form of recognition because even their dog is telling them to fuck off.

Now that gives you an idea.  I am not the only one like this.   There are a bazillion people in this world that are subject to outside pressures.  You like to whine and cry us a river, they like to bitch.  It all works out in the wash.  I say just get over it.

Next time you see a post from someone, even me, that comes across as aggressive, just ask yourself.  What is happening in their world today to get their knickers in a knot?  Even drop them a line on the other side and ask them how they are doing today, and if everything is ok.

Rather than make a complete ass of yourself and brag about how many people you have blocked, why not start bragging about something useful.  How many people have you reached out to today?

And for FUCK sakes stop trying to throw a collar on every living thing that moves, damnit.  lol

Geezuus, this is so right, it's absolutely scary. Oh,... I can't see why the moderator on this thread didn't repremand you for using those 'colorful' adjectives. I was admonished for tellijng a poster to get his head out of his ass. One and only time I was rude. Imagine that. All I can say is.....GO MAN GO! Fantastic post. Great notes at the end too. Good for you.

Hi there Ken,
Was this reply directed to me? Interesting indeed. I don't think I quite understand though. Example the quotes above.
I've never made mention ever of blocking anyone- in fact I do not.
I have no clue what the  " throwing a collar on every living thing" is about.

Again let me state- I am Not complaining- simply curious. The people I mean are not people who are having a bad day- or week, so their posts seem to have changed angry-rude what have you. I mean a regular poster where everything they appeared to be - how they spoke(typed) what & the way they said things were
very likable- interesting-appeared truthful

now  the very opposite like two different people.
Not talking about some yahoos who pop on and are just dweebs. I mean long time regular poster  someone you feel you have come to know in a way.

I don't think  I'm explaing it well- so we can drop it.
But Please  This is/was NOT a rant-complaint-whine or anything else
Okey dokey BTW,  Ken you are pretty concistant with your posts-you don't ever appear like two different people - some days your  a bit cherrier though.Have a Great tomorrow
