Sometimes you have to get the info right from the horses mouth

I asked Dean if he agreed with some in his party who say that things look so good for the Democrats in 2008, they virtually can't lose.
"That is what I call magical thinking, and Democrats have been very guilty of it for a long time," Dean said. "I don't admire much about Republicans, but one thing I do admire is that they don't engage in magical thinking."

popeye1250 -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/15/2007 12:26:16 PM)

Just heard on the radio that in Iowa while campaigning Senator Aba Daba called John Edwards, "kinda cute." lol

Vendaval -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/15/2007 1:53:55 PM)

Cool!  You could really make a fashion statement with one of
these.  Normally you have to wait until having your hair colored
at the salon to get this ultra-mod-space-explorer-outfit.  [8D]

Vendaval -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/15/2007 1:55:35 PM)

I am going to do more reading and research before deciding
which candidates to back.  I vote either Democratic or Green Party.

UtopianRanger -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/15/2007 11:56:27 PM)

WB, Pink

Ron Paul is truly the only candidate on your list worthy of my vote.  No offense, but I'm glad McCain associated himself with T. Kennedy in drafting certain legislation. He’s all but assured himself a kick in the ass by republican primary voters. And Rudy....well, once they fish a few more skeletons outa his closet, he's done too.

I still think a fake republican will win the Whitehouse in 2008. Here's the way I think It'll go down :  Cheney resigns over his bum ticker or some other fall-out / strange event, Bush then drafts Fred Thompson as the new VP and it goes from there. It’s not that I like Thompson.... but he'd smoke Obama and Hilliary in a quick second. And algore.... well the Clintons will ''Ron-Brown-him'' if he decides to come back.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/16/2007 1:41:20 AM)

Hrmmm, of the ones I'm familiar with, I dread any of them winning. I definitely don't want anyone associated with 9/11 in office. I don't want clinton in office something is just wrong when your presidential history reads. Bush vp, bush vp, Bush president, clinton president, clinton president, bush president, bush president, clinton president,(and possible another clinton president).  No sorry that is to much for me. I want all kennedies, bushes, and clintons banned from politics, please.

Someone preferrably first generation elected, would be nice, middle class roots, no legacy wealth, and focus on economics, and nationalism. With a deep hatred of all other politicians. LOL. That would be the only one that shared my values.

Lou Dobbs, I don't know about him, I don't watch CNN, but I wouldn't vote for him, I'm sure. If he's long-term established in the media industry, which is just as bad as the worst of political parties, he can't be right.

I guess I'm for NUKE on washington. It really would help everyone more than any president could do in a lifetime.

Can I write that in.

Don't really know who I would vote for, honestly, I soundly believe that 99.9% of all politicians that last are criminals. And the few that aren't don't really get the support(money), they need to get to the presidential election. So, vote your crook 2008 in my view. Tony Sopranos in nice suits, and who are well spoken(some of them anyway, money, or slickness, never ethics get them in office).

Actually, I dislike politicians so much now, I wouldn't shake any of there hands until after they were out of office and didn't fuck up shit for there benefit. They are sub-human liars, leeching off the hard work of others. LOL. Yeah, sounds extreme, but they are from anything I've seen. At least anything above (well, scratch that thought), local politicians are corrupt to. Yeah, 99.9% of people bent to control other peoples wealth, or power, are just thieves wrapped in soundbites. Goes for most government administrators to. Take one persons money give it to another and slide a little in your own pocket, and think they have the right and doing a service. ROFL.

Anyway, I think I know how real racists feel about other races in my ever growing dislike of all politicians. I swear I'd disown any child that walked in the house with a politician, or a banker. (Yeah, bankers to, are the other half of the problem at that level).

Anyway, hmmmm, that was almost on the level of RealOnes posts. hehe, guess, I should put my tin-foil hat back on.

Sorry, someone else can resume the conversation of wishful thinking that that entire list isn't one and the same or rather the wishful thinking that the ones in the list that are the most honest, and ethical, have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anywhere. Big money, doesn't give money, to honest politicians. So, whoever, is the choice on the republicans side, is assured to be the most corrupt republican that is electable and made the most pre-election promises to their donors, and the same for the democrats.

Boy, I'm getting jaded with age. [:D]

Hi Need, what an elequent and well thought out post!!!

Color me jaded as well. Every once in a while history does get it right. In my lifetime- I dont recall so many yearning for new direction in this country. [im 43]

Many are criminals. true.

Your post really is a good one. Keep on being you, you ROCK!!!

PaHunk, yup, I think you hit the nail on the head there; "so many looking for a new direction."
Look what we have now; millions of illegal aliens in the country and *our* govt does nothing, "Free Trade" Deals that benefit corporations and not the People,  falling wages for the working class, a Middle Class that is struggling to stay afloat, wide open borders, Troops in Iraq and *125* other countries, money cut for social services while *increasing* foreign aid, increasing numbers of homeless veterans in a time of War, skyrocketing deficits, trade deficits that go up every year, (I mean how can this be "free trade* if our trade deficit goes up every year?) still in the "U.N." and NATO, still in GATT and NAFTA, and that's just off the top of my head!
We are ***Definately*** headed in the wrong direction!

one can feel the vibes in the streets. i just hope the shady tactics dont distract-divide us- so as to let teh current course prevail.

IMO- teh treasursy is being looted.  Iraq, war costs, ?? unpaid, concurrent big oil profits, over Americans spilt blood.   a few years ago- i got funny looks when i said bush was the wrose prez in history. today- local opinion, many will nod in agreement.  [this from republican bible belt area of PA]

it isnt so much the face or the lable of the next administration; or the talk. lets see the walk.   as my psychiatrist told me this month- the law serves at teh pleasure of the rich- not at the common folk.

I would actually use the term "magical thinking" to describe the certainty that it would be easy to take out Saddam Hussein and bring peace to Iraq.

Dean needs to get out more.

Pa Hunk, it seems to be that way now, doesn't it?
I just heard on the radio that Sherrif Joe Arpaio of Arizona just gave his support to Mitt Romney for President!
Wow! That's got to be a real kick in the nuts to McCain!
Joe Arpaio is that Sherrif in Arizona who makes his prisoners wear pink underware and prison cloths and feeds them for $1.40 per prisoner per day with lots of bologna sandwhiches.
He's real popular out in Arizona.

PABrad -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/16/2007 7:07:33 PM)

From what I've seen from both parties the past many years a real viable 3rd party is needed. Otherwise we get to pick for one of the same with just a different label

MasDom -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/18/2007 11:57:40 AM)

Think i,ll vote for the Nazi party.

MasDom -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (3/18/2007 11:58:56 AM)

What are my third party choices again?

dogthing -> RE: 2008 US Presidential Elections (5/9/2007 5:10:04 PM)

TV just showed a clip of the ten Republican candidates on a stage, and someone in the audience asked how many of them didn't go along with the idea of evolution. Three of them put their hands up.

I realize this was posted several months ago, but I didn't see it before.

The Clinton's would "Ron Brown" him?

Ya mean put him on an airplane that flies into a mountain in Croatia?

Basicly.....and in more ways than one, yeah.

They'll come up with a way that sabotages him or renders him useless.

I suspect you are correct.  The Clintons - loved by many - do have the hardball political game down pat, you have to give them that.

Which, although I detest her personality, would allow me to vote for her under the right circumstances, as I've mentioned in another thread.

Can you imagine AQ or Iran facing the wrath of a really, really pissed off President Hillary R. Clinton?

Talk about glass deserts ... that would be if they were lucky.  [:D]
