SweetDommes -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/9/2005 11:25:18 PM)

Yet again, this is something that I know about and have a point on. Think what you like, but unless I have a valid point, I won't mention it. I am not one to argue about things unless I have at least a basic knowledge of what is going on in the topic and as my girlfriend runs a chat forum where we ran into that very issue (a minor lying about her age - we banned her as soon as we discovered it), I do know about it otherwise, I would stay out of it.

Edited for incredibly poor syntax and grammar *wince*

Lifelongchastity (or whoever started this thread) and Oceanslave are the same person, right? Read the profiles.

Sort of classic troll behavior to start a thread and debate topic, then create a new profile to support you.

Just wondering. The profiles look...oddly similar.

SweetDommes -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/9/2005 11:31:39 PM)

The thought had occurred to me Akasha, but it would have been an awfully long time to wait before doing so, since one of them has been on the boards (as a lurker, of course) since July and the other since December - most trolls aren't that patient.

OceanSlave -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/9/2005 11:32:41 PM)

Sweet Dommes, can we finally agree on something, without you countering me?

All the people who advocate this remaining a free site, with no credit card verification... Will they change their tune if someone is arrested for making contact, talking to, even meeting, someone with a fake profile, who's actually underage?

It's happened. Someone thinks another person is 25, and they turn out to be 16. Even just meeting can get him arrested. I've read numerous articles about it.

Sweet Dommes, let's finally agree on one thing. Earth is the third planet from the sun. Can you yet again counter me on that???

He might be using two profiles for other reason.
I hope he knows if the site goes to pay site, he has to pay for all his fake personalities. Could get costly to have enough "sock puppets" to support his arguments in the forum based on what I have seen.

Actually, the only time that the older person was arrested for that was when the idiot didn't turn around and walk out when he discovered the lie.

SweetDommes -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/9/2005 11:36:04 PM)

Yeah, I know Akasha - I'm actually beginning to suspect one of the other multi-personality posters on here ... but unfortunately, he's way too coherent to be that person.

Attorneys and counselors will tell you that financial stress is the most common cause of marital / relationship stresses. Again, if someone truly is serious about seeking a partner, $15 a month is nothing. Beer money. Maybe it's a matter of priorities? If someone spends 20 hours a week online, couldn't they devote part of that to a part-time job?

Beer money???? Priorities???? OceanSlave, since you don't know the people who frequent these boards methinks you should think before you spew.

I am one of those people Lady Angelika referred to, who lives paycheck to paycheck. Am I happy about this? No. Am I happy about the price of gasoline, when I practically live in my car and spend an average of $140 PER WEEK in gas???? No effing way! (thank goodness I drive a Honda) Am I squandering my money on gas so I can get to my gigs? I don't think so... I make my living playing gigs, that's what I do and not a hell of a lot else.

I resent your financial planner mindset. I work my ASS off. I am grateful that this is a free site, and as others have said, making it a pay site isn't going to change anything except kill the site. I've seen it happen with other vanilla sites; they are like ghost towns now, as oppsoed to flourishing online communities.

My profile has a bit of negativity in it too, as does my journal, which I acknowledged IN the journal. People have reasons for negative views just as they have reasons for positive views.

If you think this post is attacking you personally, well, go right ahead. I think you owe some people an apology for your snooty assumption that if we can't afford to pay for a wonderful website like this we should get part-time jobs! How dare you?

Oh, and by the way, I am married to my Dominant, but I don't expect or want him to pay my bills. I have reached that point in my life to "capably engage in a serious relationship" and don't you DARE question my quality of character or anyone's on this site; you don't know me or them and you have one hell of a nerve!

perverseangelic -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/9/2005 11:53:54 PM)

2 things.

1. I'm reasonably financially stable. As financially stable as you can be while getting your degree. I -stay- financially stable because I don't throw down $15 here and $15 there. So, no, I could -not- afford to pay for this site. I'd rather put that $15 toward food or toward rent or, heck, toward clothes. So, no, many of us who are literally able to afford it are not. We have the money. We also have much better uses for the money.

I love collarme becuase, for the most part, the community is amazing and I am able to connect with people from all over. I have -never- seen another site like this. Yes, it's worth a lot to me, but staying in my house is worth more. Charging for this site will drive me, and those like me away.

2. If all the negativity in profiles is so offensive, why not just flip past those profiles? Yup, we rant in our journals here. It's a saftey valve for me and my partner :) He'd much rather I rant where it'll do some good than rant and rave at him.

People who have profiles that you (the universal you) don't like are probably people that you won't like. Why not just give 'em a pass and not declare that because you don't like the trend in profiles, the site should undergo a drastic change.

I guess I see that anything that eliminates someone upfront is a good thing. It saves time and heartache for both parties.

cellogrrlMK, I'm sorry that your life sucks so much. Just reading your posting was depressing. I can help you make better financial decisions and provide advice on positive career advancements, if you like. I do this for a living, and have been very successful at it.

Akasha, Interesting how you attack people without addressing legitimate, reasoned arguments that person has put forward.

And SweetDommes, you never answered my question about the earth being the third planet! I want you to finally, mercifully, agree with me on something!!

SweetDommes -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/10/2005 12:04:52 AM)

I ignored your question because it was pointless with regards to this topic and I felt it was a bit childish - especially as, in another thread, I did actually agree with a point that you made.

Ocean/LifeLongChastity: I never was involved in this debate in the first place.
I just wonder why you are using two profiles and have one supporting the other. Usually that means someone is just trying to stir up debate.

And a legitimate, reasoned person wouldn't use two profiles in that way. It just seems underhanded.

OceanSlave -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/10/2005 12:11:49 AM)

Akasha, Does your life suck also, as cellogrrlMK's?

Are you capable of contributing to the debate at all?

Some people are incapable of formulating or articulating cohesive arguments, and if that's the case, then I apologize. Some people develop mental blocks or have an phobia at engaging in debate. It is inherent, and treatable through long-term counseling.

If your unwillingness to address the core issues at hand -- and instead resort to personal attacks -- is due to a phobia / mental imbalance, then I apologize for suggesting otherwise.

boy, my life doesn't suck at all. I love what I do, even though it doesn't come near the $150,000 salary you lay claim to. I can't imagine doing anything else, and I too am successful at what I do. You can't advance my career, and even if you offered me money to try I'd say no. Hopefully you slink off to a corner to mope alone when you're depressed; then we won't be subjected to YOUR negative, argumentative posts.

I won't waste my time answering anything you have to say in reply, which I'm sure you will; you seem to want the last word with everyone on this thread.

Unwillingness to address the core issue-- like that you use two profiles so you sound like someone agrees with you?

What is the phobia or mental block that causes someone to create fake personalities online so they have someone to agree with them?

As for my life sucking, no, it doesn't at all. I've never even been involved in this thread on that, or talked about money. You just are throwing that in to try to stir things up and take the heat off yourself.

For a troll, you are not a very good one.

Maybe you need a third profile to support you. Go ahead, it's free!!

OceanSlave -> RE: Make this a paid site! (4/10/2005 12:20:15 AM)

cellogrrlMK, It's actually over $150k, well over that, and it's not salary -- it's commissions.

And I'm sorry that flipping burgers isn't working out for you... :(

But one of your accounts (LifeLongChastity) makes $200,000 a year.
Isn't your OceanSlave personality jealous of your LifeLongChastity personality?

Where exactly did she say that she was flipping burgers??? or is that just your assumption because she doesn't make as much money as you?
