I am new to the BDSM community and thankfull that I have been introduced. I have a part time D who is both an amazing D and an amazing friend.

What I am curious about is this - I love being marked, doesn't matter if it's teeth, nails, flogging bruises, rope binding bruises - anything that will leave a mark I can stare at the next hour.. the next day. It clears my head and makes me even more excited to know it was done to me - how much I enjoyed it - the feelings that I was going through in my head at the moments of it happening. I actully get sad as the bruises and marks fade away. I often beg for them to be placed on me again. Of course D complies - for he enjoys his mark on his Sub as well.

Is this unusual - It simply can't be. I am just really curious to hear others opinons on it and how you explain what it does for you.

Thank you.

i don't think this is unusual at all. i too love to be marked - hopefully, one day, He will allow me to have His mark tattooed on me. in the meantime, though, i enjoy welts, bruises, and all the rest! :) for me...it's very primal. it adds to the feeling i have of being property.

disagree with this here....there are better ways to feel and remember than physical scaring or marking...likely where the collar idea originated...as an alternative

i don't think either way is "better," it just depends on what works for the people involved. personally, we use collars AND he sometimes leaves marks (eventually, like i said, i'll have a permanent mark of some sort, as well as, since we are slowly touching on the subject of knife play again, some scarring). some people just like physical marks and scarring. some people don't even get into the s&m side of things and fully prefer collars. some people like to have stuff drawn/painted on them (there was an interesting thread on the body as canvas not too long ago). it takes all kinds.

then I suppose it is a matter of personal opinion, but I wouldn't ever want to mark my partner, at least not permanently....it would literally make me sick

yep, it is, in my experience. i know kinky people who prefer not to mark or be marked. i also know even non-kinky people who are into permanent body modification that even squicks me, sometimes.

i definitely understand if you don't want to answer this, but i'm curious - what about marking turns you off? do temporary marks, like welts or bruises inflicted during a scene, bother you? or is it only permanent marks? thanks. (by the way, i've enjoyed reading your posts so far - i hope you stick around the forums!)

I wouldn't say that I enjoy being marked, but...... there was this one encounter that left a small permanent mark on my back . Now whenever I look at myself in the mirror and see it, I get a fond memory.

Marking is associated to pain with me, and while I do enjoy the idea of inflicting or recieving temporary pain as relating to the activities discussed on this site, a permanent marking to me translates to permanent pain, and I don't want that for anyone

From my personal experiences i love to be marked.... i have a very large scar from a branding (but unfortunately it did not healed as planned). This wasnt during a proper play experience. but the experience is now indelibly marked on me and in my mind.... i love watching bruises being made and the effects there after. a proud badge of honor i guess.... the senses of what has been done and who did it..... intense..... i have a few tattoos as well... i constantly like to put myself through that pain and the tattoos are the after effects permanently...

like the saying goes

it takes all sorts

the icon under your name will change based on the number of posts you have :) the more you post, the kinkier it gets.

meh don't worry about it, I have an icecream cone too, but I'm not that concerned...big fan of ice-cream really...

I'm a switch so maybe I can have an icon of just that a switch...haha behold my ability to relate this seemingly unrelated post to the topic...

I like marks, too, both giving and receiving. They fade over time, usually, unless I've made specific plans for them not to, such as being branded or doing a cutting.  For me, marks tell a story, hopefully a positive one, much like tattoos.

Marking is actually a fetish in itself, and I've known people who actually take asperin on a regular basis to increase the bruising. As a submissive, I've always relished in the marks, but on the dom side, I really don't like leaving ones that don't fade in a short period of time, although if the actions warrant it, I'll leave ones lasting for days. I think it is a very common thing for subs to cherrish the marks, and if they were a result of punishment, they will leave a lasting reminder.

Its just a 'part' of remembering the play for me. Like the anticipation, the actual act and the head space after are. I love my marks and for me they are a very good way of remembering.

then I suppose it is a matter of personal opinion, but I wouldn't ever want to mark my partner, at least not permanently....it would literally make me sick
Noone actually mentioned permanent.

Marking is associated to pain with me, and while I do enjoy the idea of inflicting or recieving temporary pain as relating to the activities discussed on this site, a permanent marking to me translates to permanent pain, and I don't want that for anyone
Again noone said permanent marking.  I dont heal very well so some marks are permanent for me, but they are now just part of me and they are very minor barely seeable permanent markings.
