Status: offline 		I don't like making permanent marks (makes me think "out of control") but I love leaving marks that will eventually fade away.  There is something primal and satisfying about biting.  After a good caning (leaving a pattern for instance) I like to admire my work.  I know the subs I've had enjoyed looking at and feeling the marks.

Its just a 'part' of remembering the play for me. Like the anticipation, the actual act and the head space after are. I love my marks and for me they are a very good way of remembering.

Noone actually mentioned permanent.

Marking is associated to pain with me, and while I do enjoy the idea of inflicting or recieving temporary pain as relating to the activities discussed on this site, a permanent marking to me translates to permanent pain, and I don't want that for anyone
Again noone said permanent marking.  I dont heal very well so some marks are permanent for me, but they are now just part of me and they are very minor barely seeable permanent markings.

Status: offline 		fasst reply, i can HIGHLY identify with the OP. i love marking, even before i found bdsm i always took pride in my *war wounds* there are just many levels to it, the memory, reliving the moment, the pride, the fondness of Him taking the time to [sometimes] lay out intricate work all over my body.

i have been blessed to accept His permanent mark on 8.13.06

Status: offline 		Yummmmmmmmm... marks!!!  I love the way my back and butt redden, I like raised welts, I like bruises, I like small cuts and breaks in the skin. 
 
I like the feeling of soreness; moving in a way that causes tension on a place that has been marked or a muscle that is tender.  I like running my fingers over raised welts.  I like the itchy-ness of healing wounds.
 
I like both giving and receiving such marks.  (I have sometimes topped...and love it). 
 
I am not into permanent injury or any sort.
 
I realize some people enjoy the things I enjoy; some do not.  It makes me no better or worse because I do or they don't.  I have friends who used to find it difficult to mark another...but on learning how desireous a person can be for marks...they learned; it has been a happy experience for all involved.

Status: offline 		i have a real dilemma.  i like the marks; i always want to see them right away.  i like to watch them develop.  i like looking at them and remembering how i got them.  but i work out quite a bit and i don't like having to explain or lie about what they are.

Status: offline 		I marked my husband before knowing the slaveregister idea: put a number on your slave and register him. It's easyer if you part, one way or the other. Anyway I "marked my husband/slave "ne's slave" in my language. Here is his registration :

There are one or two people who I enjoy being bitten by, and I enjoy the marks for the time I have them (like the ones on my profile pic).

Hmmmm, been too long since I got bit...dang....think I'll have to take a road trip.

Status: offline 		MMMMMM, I love my marks. Like others have said they are a badge on honor for me. They also remind my of the play, of how I gave my Sir my pain, How I suffered and endured for him. I am one of those who loves to be pushed past the point where pain can be converted into pleasure so marks are almost always a give, As I sit here typing my back and rear are covered with cuts from the single tail this weekend. Every move I make the burn and pull and remind me of the incredible scene I had.

Was not referring to the word permanent.  You said that nobody mentioned marks being permanent (actually you will find that they did, but this is not the point) Marks just associate as permanent wounds for me, and while I can understand the sub deriving pleasure from them, I am not so sure about it from the other POV.

Status: offline 		There is something a little thrilling about marks..to feel the hot stripe of a welt from a cane, the hundreds of tiny bruises from the ends of a flogger, the wide red mark of a paddle... They keep me in the moment a little longer, give me some sort of proof that "Yes, that did happen" and give me another physical connection to my emotional state. Master is careful to keep them in places that only the two of us see, and that's also another part of my interest in them. The marks are Ours....we created them through our intimate connection, and when they fade, it is merely another opportunity to place them there again.

What I find unusual is how someone who calls herself Amazon Lady winds up as a sub. Ah well, I guess some can say the same with Tiger...but I digress.

Personally, I just like to show off, freak some people out like my brother and cusions sometimes with some new found tigerstripes, the downside is that I heal pretty damn quick (yay i'm a superhero!),  so I kinda have to actually request much more severe marking with more savage tools then what is typical if I want something to last more then a few hours.

For you marks equate as permanent but does not permanent mean it wont go away and most people mentioned marks that will fade away. Maybe you need to read the dictionary a little.

Status: offline 		I love the marks he leaves on me and thankfully I have the type of skin that marks very easily.  I still have very faint marks on my calves from the first knife play he did on me two years ago.  For a long time my back was covered in marks from fingernail scratches from our first night together.  I still have finger nail marks on my back but they are from the many other times.

The only thing I do not do is bruise easily.  He can hit me really hard and I will not have a bruise.  Then one afternoon driving, he absentminedly rubbed his thumb on my thigh over and over.  I had a bruise that lasted for two weeks.
