Some years ago my teenage daughter's pet boa constrictor escaped from the cage. The snake was about 3 or 4 feet long, and I am NOT a fan of snakes of any kind. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper about the fact that the snake was lurking somewhere in the house. Each night, I would pull the covers back to check beneath them before getting into bed, and if I got up during the night, I was afraid I would step on her. After several weeks of no sign of her, we decided that she had probably slipped out of the house and was gone. One morning, I came home from work in the wee hours of the AM, and had to pee really bad, so I went straight to my bathroom, and in the dim early light I did not bother to switch on the bathroom light, just went ahead and sat on the potty. I glimpsed something to my left, and looked, and there was the danged snake, coiled up in my bathtub, staring at me. I went running from the bathroom, pants around my ankles, yelling for my daughter to come and recapture the snake. It was a good thing I was already sitting down to pee when I saw her, or it would have been all over but the cleanup. *L*
