To me, it's even funnier when there is a response to something that was never actually said. ... another favorite ... ask a question and get an answer, then completely change the dynamic of the question, in order to then claim that the original question was never answered. No worries ... it's life on a message board. [;)]

Hey Ciatlyn, its gets even better than that. There are some on this board, who will edit thier posts, after being called on them, to pretend they never said it. Utter cowards, afraid to let the record speak in a debate. I mean seriously, how pathetic does a person have to be to try to cheat in a debate.

Was rereading it and realized I was in error. So I edited the post about 15 minutes later, corrected the error, and put a "edited to correct whatever the error was." A fellow poster who tends to try to pick fights with me quoted the erroneous post and tried to pick a fight. All within the 15 minutes between posting and fixing the error. I get in fights and argue with people for a living, this is my vacation, so I did not bother to respond. Sinergy

I think of moderates as neither right nor left, but I do think of them as wanting to preserve the status quo, meaning that if anything they would be conservative more than liberal at the core of what they believe. Trying to find the middle of the road because they fear going too far in either direction and what they perceive as threatening, which is "radical" change. I am not afraid of socialized medicine, alternative fuels, an economy that is not based upon fiat currency and not morgaged away with mountains of debt. I am not afraid of these things whatsoever... so I consider myself radical.

That categorization is probably accurate for some, but has nothing to do with my position. I'm highly liberal and radical in some ways ... and very conservative in others. The bottom line, is that I strongly agree with about 50% of the platform of the Democratic, Rebublican and Libertarian party, and completely disagree with the other 50%. When I view a candidate as moderate, I see someone that at least has a chance of finding that middle ground between competing factions. It's the only position that makes sense to me.

I think if you have been here long enough, and are the sort of person that speaks your mind, you will eventually get a warning. I have received several warnings. I can truthfully say that I have been warned twice in the past two weeks, by a moderator ... once for something I posted (I said it as a joke, but obviously someone didn't think it was funny[;)]), and another time, for inserting a gold star within a thread. A person can take offense, or be open minded to the people that own this website (where they allow us to participate, free of charge), and apologize for making their job a little harder.

I call that independent Caitlyn, at least if you were not trying to find middle ground between competing (or I would argue noncompeting) factions. One only has to look at how third parties are denied a seat at the debates to understand how the republicans and the democrats divide the pie between them for a more predictable outcome. They are not moderate, they are just smart[;)]. Why share power more than two ways? How do we keep the status quo by finding "middle ground". I am very jaded about politics... no third parties means that the system is easier for the rich to control.

I would say you are correct, perhaps independent is a better description. How I would love to see a strong third party ... or ten for that matter. I have only been able to vote in one election, and only voted in four races. In two of the four, I was voting against someone, as opposed to for someone, which I find very sad.
