There are many unexplained things, but nothing is supernatural, nothing. Supernatural would mean outside of nature. Frankly, humans are incapable of judging whether something is outside of nature or not. As to the original question, I will say that I do not believe "in" anything, nor do I even know what it really means to believe in anything. I believe that my good friends will not betray me, I believe that my car will start, I believe that the sun will rise and I believe that there is an afterlife, and I know that nobody on this planet can tell me a damn thing about it. I believe that the human mind has many capabilities of which we are unaware. I believe that there is a part of a person that lives on after their corporeal death, so it must logically follow that communication with the dead cannot be dismissed as impossible. I also believe that the only thing that can be known to be truly impossible is to prove that something is impossible. If you want to try, call me when you are omnipresent. Until then, none of us can say for sure that anything is impossible. I believe that most of the stuff you see is mumbo jumbo. People have a hell of an imagination, was your dead Grandma really talking to you or was it a dream ? The only real proof of the real thing would be something like the combo to a safe, or the location of some hidden asset that was never revealed to anyone during life on Earth. One must be careful as to what is accepted as proof. One thing that is overlooked is, whether really smart or not, just how much insight a person can have. Look at psychics, every prediction is preceeded by a question. They have a really good ability to judge from a person's response what is going on. This is a learned skill. And they are good at it. I can't really argue that they are not possibly using part of the "other" 5/6ths of their brain. My opinion is that if they gave up the mumbo-jumbo they would make excellent counsellors and advisors. So to answer the question in the OP, I do not believe "in" anything, nor do I understand the concept. I used to think I did, but age came upon me and I realized that I did not.The concept is foreign to me. And what you might call the supernatural is simply part of nature with which you are unfamiliar. I read a very enlightening book a very long time ago. It was simply titled "The Occult", and the very first words were the definition of occult. The occult simply means that which is hidden. Might not be Websters but it works for me. People are walking around with DVD players, portable, battery operated with LCD screens. You've seen them. Take one back in time a hundred years or two. You'll be burned as a witch. People instinctively fear the unknown. In the wake of that, they attach a certain reverence to the things they do not understand. Thus we have mumbo-jumbo. Strip away all the mumbo-jumbo and you see alot more. Have an out of body experience ? Enjoy it, but try to stay rational. Nothing is happening to you right now, be observant. Explore. Your mind is doing it and you should pay attention, like some dreams, it is trying to tell you something. If you get rid of the mumbo-jumbo, I could prove that vampires could exist. Let's chew on that. Forget about turning into a bat, forget the mumbo-jumbo and let's get down to reality. Say a change in the DNA, OK, far fetched but hear it out. Their digestive tract changes, they must ingest meat, blood, and this would be nurished by whatever the animal ate, but it is pre-digested. They lose the ability to extract nutrients from food normally. They are sensitive to bright light, but can see very well in the dark. With the tradeoff they gain a very long lifespan and near superhuman strength and agility. All the myths about them being able to change into a bat or smoke or whatever, come from their extreme agility. What was it about Bruce Lee ? could get across the room and turn on a light switch and get back to where he was before the incandescent bulb actually lit up, something like that ? Unfortunately there is so much myth about it we may never get to the bottom of it to know whether it is real or not. The thing about the fangs. OK I have had a trooth cap itself so tooth growth is true, but fangs ? Well maybe, but I seriously doubt they retract. If they grow fangs they are probably stuck with them. And how does one beconme a vampire ? getting bit on the neck ? Somewhat like a mosquito bite ? So the point is, anything is possible. And things that we have not yet seen in nature are deemed supernatural by some. But not me. It is all natural. T
