ORIGINAL: nephandi Why do you think God have anything against you being a willing slave? Do it hurt you? Set you back Spiritualy? Do it harm others? If no, why hould God have a problem whit this? The Church might, but the Church i not God, they are a bunch of pepole trying to make money of Him/Her/It. At least in my opinion. Free will being the most sacred gift of all, I do not think G*d would have anything against one person willingly entering into slavery, and as I pointed out, even involuntary slaves, if Christian, are encouraged to serve their Master with dedication and decline any opportunity to become free. Something about serving G*d by proxy. The only place in the bible that directly denounces slavery is a mistranslated verse in Timothy; this verse originally states something to the effect that unlawfully making a person a slave, or stealing properly owned slaves, is equivalent to murder. The part about not denouncing legal slavery, which throughout history has usually included the option of selling oneself into slavery, coupled with a fairly clear intention that unwilling slavery is a Bad Thing(tm), is kind of interesting in the context of D/s, as it pretty much conforms to a good slave ethic: a Master should force slavery upon anyone, but a slave should be dedicated to his/her Master. If these things are taken to their logical conclusion in a libertarian world that permits a person to exert their free will over themselves without restraint, then following the intent of the Bible ideally leads to a world in which unwilling slavery is prohibited and does not occur, while voluntary slavery is a sacred institution wherein Masters care properly for their slaves and slaves pour their heart into serving their Masters. And, as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, there's this thing about having been given a nature that one has a divine obligation to fulfill. If your soul is crying out to be enslaved, you have an obligation to be a slave, although you have the free will to refuse that obligation. Similarly, if your soul is of such a nature as to crave the posession of slaves, you have an obligation to help these slaves fulfill their obligation by owning them. Again, free will is the most sacred gift of all, and willingly submitting to another person becomes a sacrament in its own right, while willing slavery becomes a sacred institution. Yes, I'd say my faith definitely affects my D/s life.
