Well I do agree, there is a derm in town who has a bad rep, and I'd not consider going to him for that reason. The one I went to lived close to me when I was growing up, and I knew her, and I trusted her implicitly. But yeah, when you are talking about your health and your permanent appearance, researching who the doctor is, and how good their work is, is a great (and probably necessary) idea. It is amazing the strides that have been made, even over the past decade, as far as cosmetic surgery being less an "ordeal" than it once maybe was for many. My Derma-brasion was a major, very painful ordeal and it took at least 4-6 weeks, as I recall, to recover. Laser surgery (which has largely replaced the Derma-brasion technique) may be as "major" a deal, in some cases, but mostly not, and it is certainly much less painful, overall, I've read. I don't know if it is a symptom of "cosmetic" surgery being thought of as anything more casually approached, necessarily, but - I will say I do think it's nice, that it is more affordable that it once was, as far as doctors taking things like "payment plans" etc. Especially since insurance won't, a lot of times, cover the cost. If my niece had to pay for this, she probably could, although much like a college student loan, I see no reason she needs to be saddled with that expense, if someone is in a position to help her with it, instead. - Susan
