According to a CNN-Gallup poll...
38% of Americans say they approve of how President Bush is handling his job
33% of Americans say they approve of the Democrat-controlled congress. Keep in mind, the support for congress when the GOP controlled it in October last year before the election was 32%.

It appears as though right now Americans are not happy with either branch of government. And the polls show the reasons are many ranging from the war to border security.

These polls also show how wide open the 2008 election is going to be. It is certainly not a slam-dunk for Democrats.

The Democrats have been attacking the Bush strawman they made up for so long now, everything has been "Bush's fault" for so long, how will they ever adjust to not having him around to blame for everything

The big bad boogiman is retiring

Now they'll have to rework all their fantastic conspiracy theories

A Republican might have a pretty good chance

ESPECIALLY if he's running against Hillary, or Obama

I dunno, I LIKE Obama, although I don't like any of his positions.

I hate Hillary, but I like some of her positions.

I don't see a single Republican in the race that I'd waste much time on voting for.

hmmm, maybe you're right ... it is wide open.

Buchannan/Keyes

The only REAL CONSERVATIVES LEFT after the Neocon Purge of the Party.

Man, that would be a great ticket.

What?  WHAT????  But, the Democrats are back in control...  Grandma Pelosi is going to kiss all our National boo-boos better and tell that nasty ol' President to make the war go away.  They have a mandate (I know it's true 'cuz Al Franken said so).

It must be that horrible Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy lying to us on Fox News (that, or the pollsters called ME this time).

Condi Rice?

Have you seen the mess she made of Iraq? Letting North Korea develop Nukes? Shit, 9/11 happened on HER WATCH AS NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR!

Forgetting about the fact she's a homosexual, and that she's black, she's unelectable due to her proven track record of failure.

So she gets the Gay vote...and since when did political failure ever stop the Republicans?

Got a source for that?  Or, better yet, pictures?

I couldn't believe it when NOBODY picked up on it a few years ago when she slipped and referred to the Pres. as her "husband."

I think it would be hard for anyone to be too "happy" about the way things are going as of late.....But things are a little better in regards to congressional approval over 2006.

Congressional Job Approval
Thirty-three percent of Americans approve and 60% disapprove of the job Congress is doing. Congressional approval is up five points since last month, but is still slightly lower than the 37% approval recorded a few weeks after Democrats assumed control of Congress this year. Congress has averaged 33% approval so far this year.
Despite being at a fairly low level, Congress's 2007 job ratings are an improvement over what Gallup measured last year. In 2006, Congress' approval ratings averaged 25%, with a high of 29% and a low of 21%.

Who could be happy with Congress....Or approve of the job that the President is doing?

"From the Gallup Poll"
Bush's latest rating is four points higher than what he received at the end of March, and is his best so far this year, albeit by only one percentage point. The current 38% rating is also slightly higher than his 35% average so far in 2007. Bush has not had an approval rating above 40% for going on seven months, a dismal streak surpassed by only two other presidents -- Harry Truman from October 1950 to December 1952 and Richard Nixon from July 1973 to August 1974.

Republicans continue to be much more likely than independents or Democrats to approve of the job Bush is doing. Seventy-five percent of Republicans approve of the president, compared with 34% of independents and only 8% of Democrats.

Oh!....75% of the Republicans still think that the  President is still doing a good job!!!....Is anyone else amazed by this stat. from the gallup poll?

If Rudy can win the primary, he can blow the entire Democrat field out of the water.  IF he can win the primary.

Not as gross as visualizing Hillary as Nixon with a vagina.

After leaving the remains of 9/11 victims in the street to be found 6 years later? Nope. The firefighters HATE Rudy, and you simply can't win without their union.

Ya' know, now I'm wondering if he needed the money from those because he was actually an honest politician all those years.....   Naahh.... Couldn't be.
