I think it would be hard for anyone to be too "happy" about the way things are going as of late.....But things are a little better in regards to congressional approval over 2006. Congressional Job Approval Thirty-three percent of Americans approve and 60% disapprove of the job Congress is doing. Congressional approval is up five points since last month, but is still slightly lower than the 37% approval recorded a few weeks after Democrats assumed control of Congress this year. Congress has averaged 33% approval so far this year. Despite being at a fairly low level, Congress's 2007 job ratings are an improvement over what Gallup measured last year. In 2006, Congress' approval ratings averaged 25%, with a high of 29% and a low of 21%. Who could be happy with Congress....Or approve of the job that the President is doing? "From the Gallup Poll" Bush's latest rating is four points higher than what he received at the end of March, and is his best so far this year, albeit by only one percentage point. The current 38% rating is also slightly higher than his 35% average so far in 2007. Bush has not had an approval rating above 40% for going on seven months, a dismal streak surpassed by only two other presidents -- Harry Truman from October 1950 to December 1952 and Richard Nixon from July 1973 to August 1974. Republicans continue to be much more likely than independents or Democrats to approve of the job Bush is doing. Seventy-five percent of Republicans approve of the president, compared with 34% of independents and only 8% of Democrats. Oh!....75% of the Republicans still think that the President is still doing a good job!!!....Is anyone else amazed by this stat. from the gallup poll?
