Meaning of Paul.

It's originally Hebrew and means "small" or "humble."

According to the Babynames site:

Origin  : Latin, English, French

Meaning : Little one

You'd think...perfect name for a submissive right?

This might explain why I'm a switch:

My middle name is Michael, which  is also Hebrew and means "Godly" or "He who is like God." The BabyNames site says the same thing.

Paul

Funny you should mention this, most all my cousins and my sisters names sound like a weather cast. We have a Misty, Rainy, Stormy, Winter, and Summer.

And in our extended family.... it sounds like the names of all 66 books in the Holy Scriptures (KJV)

My mom was trying to be creative and mixed her mother's and sister's names to make mine.  Combining their meaning together as well, it comes out to mean "pure maiden" from it's Gaelic roots.  Wow, was that way off course for what I turned out to be, or perhaps I was a reble against my name all along and I never knew it . . .

Robyn - Didn't have to use your link, I know what it means. It's short for Robinson, the last name of a guy who was good friends w/ my parents during my incubation. Gestation. Whatever.

Course, the linky thing was tempting, and I now know that my name is an alternate form of Robert (yeah right, my fat ass) and means bright; shining; fame. Yep, that's me to a T. Bright and shiny...oooh! (sorry that's an attention deficit joke)

Elorin apparently doesn't mean anything b/c it's not in their database, but I already know what that means too, because I picked it out. Sensual, mature, in control of their sexuality. A Duchess. That's me!

Tristan - Not many spell it this way anymore; it's the old Celtic spelling, having been apparently replaced by 'Tristin', which seems to be more of a popular female name than a male name these days, including the site listed...so I've found an alternate listing.

TRISTAN

Gender: Masculine
Usage: Welsh, English, French, Celtic Mythology
Pronounced: TRIS-tan (English), trees-TAWN (French)   [key]

From the Celtic name Drystan, which was probably derived from drest meaning "riot" or "tumult". It is sometimes associated with Latin tristis "sad", but this connection is doubtful. In Celtic legend Tristan was sent to Ireland in order to fetch Isolde, who was to be the bride of King Mark of Cornwall. Instead, Tristan and Isolde end up falling in love.

Riot?  Tumult?  I don't know about that...I'm usually the one people forget about in the corner. :)

lol... Not much in the way of variation in translations to choose from; seems I'm stuck with the gray fortress.  Sounds kinda dull.

Psst, fukintroll... Sybil.

The Sybil is a holy woman.

What, I wonder, does the phrase 'gray fortress' refer to?

lol... Darned if I know.  Doing a bit of quick googling, Lioslaith appears to be another Scottish name that means, "dwells at the gray fortress".

Actually, Lioslaith sounds about how my name was pronounced by my sister after she lost her two front teeth.

I've heard that bitter is a reference to sea water and that Mary could also mean ocean.  In Latin this is so, whence maritime and marine.  One of the names used by some Catholics to honor Mary is Stella Maris, Star of the Sea.
