Some very interesting comments above....having never asked My sub to give up anything more than control and power, I do not think anything else would be necessary. Although, I have heard of some that give up their children, families and friends, it would seem a cruel condition for service. To be totally frank, I would question the sanity of any who will give up their children, or those who would ask.

once, the first time round, i gave up everything.........everything i had ever known, my home, my family, my job, my heart, my mind, my soul, my body and even all that wasn't enough......i would have willingly given up everything and anything it took to beocme His

if the chance ever somes again, i HAVE learned a LITTLE something.........next time round i would still be willing to throw most everything to the winds and give up everything.......everything but me and my pets {who depend on me and look to me for their well-being and that's a responsibility and privilege i don't take lightly}

Control shouldn't be about giving things up.
I see my control as a highly necessary part of the relationship with a submissive.
I don't give it to just anyone. I know they will benefit from it emensely.
I have asked submissives to give up their jobs because I believed that it would be necessary for the relationship to survive.
But then I don't 'play'.
If I ever find the right person he will be my partner in life and I will be his.

Not much. I'm not willing to give-up anything TO belong, though many a thing has fallen away BECAUSE I belong.

It came to pass that I gave up my right to do whatever I want to do.... and found I was with someone who could MAKE me do whatever I want to do.

Such is life.
