ORIGINAL: Domin8tingUrDrmz The corner stores were great. It was nice "knowing" the owners and playing with their kids. Heck, I remember getting free sodas because I was friends with the owner's kids. I suppose that is why they went out of business - that and them 7-11's. People were more friendly in those times too, you had to go out to the mailbox to send off your bills, and you wound up socializing with neighbors more. Today, everything is conveniently done at home that you no longer have time to interact with anyone...or so it seems. Yes, that's true. My mother would invite the mailman in for lunch and he'd play the piano for us. She'd make him a sandwhich, funny guy, "Slicky Johanson".
