Meaning is to serve a purpose. There is no instinctually defined purpose. "What is the meaning of life?" has an answer that can't be spoken in English. It will be a massive fractical of a complexity we would be hardfound to even begin to understand the order of magnitude of. One that, for all my ends, can not answer in the entirety of my life. One day, some God will answer this question and it will be evolution incarnate. For now, the only meaning of life that may be understood is the null set- nihilism. Nihilism is the meaning of life of the null set, or.. {MeaningOfLife(null) = Nihilism}. Still, as one would be unliked to accept nihilism and unable to begin to comprehend any other solution set (besides, perhaps, the infinite case?), it may be said that there is no meaning to life, or, more bluntly put, none which we might understand. This answer covers nihilism in that one may say it is the essense of life having no meaning.
