I don't know what to agree with here. But I do have a few things to say that will muck the whole issue up, ON topic.

The FCC, under Powell has been trying to relax restrictions on the media, especially ownership of media outlets. There was a time in this contry when no one entity was allowed to own more than one TV station, and one AM and FM station at the same time in any given market.

This wasn't the worst solution. You know damnwell why media conglomerates exist. And I know now why public utilies advertise even when they are a monopoly. Control. If the news show runs an ad for your local power company, you might not hear about some "mistakes" they may have made. If you advertise even Corvairs, you can bet that Ralph Nader and his ilk would not be guests on the show. And it is a show.

Also, in a case quite a while ago, the media wom the absolute right to lie. They cannot be sued for it no matter what. Why did such a lawsuit and subsequent laws changed happen in the US ? Does anyone have a clue ? Control.

Not control of the media, control using the media of the people. It is by far the big money people's best weapon against us. I specifically used the word weapon in lieu of tool. I have good reason. They use it to take from us, to enrich themselves, without proper merit.

That is why it is so important to use the internet responsibly, like this site. You post and 1,000 people might read the message. And if it is true and contradicts the established media, I would say that is a good thing.

Gas prices are what they are because we allow it. Let them keep it up, crank it up to $10 a gallon. Let the chips fall. They will sell less of it, people will find a way. Lots and lots of carpooling, more bicycles. More motorcycles, more hybrid cars, and more people taking the bus even. Perhaps through the internet a boycott could be arrainged. Of course that would depend on one's ability to participate. Some people are absolutely dependent on gasoline, and it is unlikely to change soon.

So they got us by the balls, and that my friends is the real reason gas is so high. Even the established media tells you about the record profits of the oill companies, why not ? There ain't a damn thing you can do about it. Even when told how they are gouging you every day and amassing riches beyond most people's wildest dreams, they still have you by the balls. They can just say "Make your own damn gasoline if you don't want ours, or walk".

That is why it costs what it costs. Greed. And it is compounded by the weak dollar. Remember this is mostly foreign oil. Much of it bought with foreign currency and the exchange rate is quite unfavorable.

And one last thing, back to the media, Hugo Chavez Frias is not a dictator. He is the lawful President. The people of that country spoke, and threw our CIA out on their ear. The controlled media calls him a dictator because the big money people do not like him, and he won't relinquish control. Of the oil.

The media also failed to mention that Saddam was going to switch to the Euro, putting us in that unadvantageous situation. They told you about the billions in US currency, but not that one little detail.

Add two and two up, he was tired of us fucking with him and wanted to hurt our economy really bad. Switching to the Euro and then flooding the market with dollar would have been devastating. There were never any WMDs after he agreed to the illegally imposed sanctions.

That was supposedly a sovereign nation, what if they came here and told us what we can and can't do ?

And don't gimme that snot about the world community, WE, the US are the first country to use a nuke, Israel being the other. It is we who need to be disarmed. Not they.

I can't believe that people come in here for gun control, but would let the US government have anything they want, and use it anytime they damn well please. It is not logical to me.

If you eventually come to the point in your life when you are looking at the world truly objectively, you will not be happy. But until people wake up nothing is going to change.

Nahhh.  But it would be a lot of fun to see the intellectual elitist types from MoveOn stuck living with the people who's votes they'll promise anything to get.

Or just to practice what they preach.

I am not in the mood.

You made a bunch of comments attributing things to me.

I posted YOUR COMMENTS and asked you to provide your sources for your comments.

I understand you feel it is your opinion.  Do me a favor and not put me in the crosshairs of your opinions.

Thank you for pointing out it is your opinion and has no actual empirical basis.

And I suppose you think if we and Israel disarm, so will Russia, France, China, Britain, India, Pakistan, Iran and North Korea? Yeah right! Give me a break. That's a fantasy.

As for being conservative, Bush is not a conservative by any stretch. Going out on "nationbuilding" and policing the world is a liberal doctrine invented by Clinton. He sent our military everywhere. One of the reasons Bush was elected in 2000 was because he promised to RESTRICT the US military from going on all these overseas adventures. The conservatives back then were still fuming because Clinton went to war against Serbia. The GOP voted against that war.
And the only reason Bush won in 2004 is because Democrats ran the worst presidential campaign I've ever seen in my life.

Well considering the first line of my post says, "this is a rant" I assumed most would take it as opinion. I guess not.

You know what happens when you ASSUME.

So I can ASSUME you dont plan on actually sourcing the crap you ascribed to me?

I suppose I can also ASSUME that you are apologizing but are emotionally incapable of doing so.

I accept your apology.  We can move on now.

Actually, that is incorrect. With the exception of oil purchased from Iran, you need US Dollars to pay for oil. (This is why the US is just itching to find a cause for war with Iran that can be sold to a gullible public.)

You later mentioned Iraq converting from US Dollars to Euros for oil, which is correct. (Which was a primary motivation for war with Iraq.)

Hugo Chavez has hinted of a possible conversion from the Dollar to the Euro (Which is a primary reason why he is being sold to the public as a devil):

I wish Kucinich was not running under the Democratic ticket.

And if Ron Paul decides to run, I wish it wouldn't be under the Republican ticket.

I dont actually.

I am quoted as having stated something.  I ask the person to provide the link where I made the statement.

It is not rocket science.  I dont remember making half the statements he attributed to me, so I asked him to source them.

While I understand why you jumped to his defense, a more cogent defense would be to PROVIDE THE LINKS TO MY STATEMENTS, as opposed to the airy-fairy "you do this all the time" defense.

Am not too sure that we will be dying off like that in 4-5 yrs...or even 10 or more...but it sure will be difficult and time consuming to have to try to pollinate everything ourselves.  Too bad it couldn't have affected wasps instead of honeybees.  Honeybees are hard workers....kinda like illegal immigrants.  Besides illegals in Texas and California do all the service oriented work noone else seems to want to do.  Contrary to popular stereotypes...lol.

Now its the Hispanics that are said to be drunk all the time and lazy...in a previous generation it was the Irish or pick another outdated racial stereotype.  Don't get me wrong though....am not advocating legal rights or benefits for illegals either.  Now back to the ongoing debate that was raging.

Look for the post where I said after about 8 sentences of yours

"I do,? please cite your sources."

Perhaps cyber isn't the one confused.

You might wish to read his post where he posed those questions to you.  You know what a question is, don't you?  Its where someone (cyberdude in this case) ask you for your point of view.

You seem to think that he was stating your point of view.

The confusion is on your part, not his.

Think twice, post once, as someone said.

domi,

Not sure what's got you all upset, or your history with cyberdude, but I gotta say I disagree with you.

Sinergy as the one not making sense, not cyber in the "source your statements" battle.

As far as "no facts" from cyberdude, versus an opinion, I will also have to disagree with you.  The desire of some Democrats to bring back the "Fairness Doctrine" is public knowledge.  Go Google.

Also, what's wrong with discussing an opinion, even if it's not based on sourced facts?  That kind of philosophical debate is useful as well.  As long as facts and conclusions drawn from those facts (i.e. opinions) are clearly state - what's wrong with that?

I can go back to numerous threads where cyberdude has posted without regards to any basis of fact,,,,The original statements are not depicted as being one of his opinion...Or even to be someone elses...The key to a good debate is actually similiar to playing cards...there have been far to many times where he has been called where it has been found that be is holding shit.
