I became uninterested in fiction, I turned my attention to world events. Also to honing my saleable skills. The realest entertainment was when people came over, naturally occurring jokes were really good.

Within the past decade, my interest in fiction has decreased by at least 90%. I'll watch Leno's monologue once or twice a week and still take in three or four movies each month (which is still too much), but that's about it. No sitcoms, continuing episodes, game shows, "reality" shows, or other nonsense.

It's amazing how much more I've learned about the real world in the past decade, after having mostly divested myself from fairy-tale television entertainment.

One day I hope to spit out the pacifier altogether.

The answer who exports most or US or Germany  could be in proportion to GDP or something like that. Not in total quantity.

With regard to Saudi OIL it seems that the original geological surveys were carried out by Standard Oil, after some "iffy" diplomatice intervention by a chap named Philby. Then 4 US Oil corps. Texaco Chevron Esso and Mobil I think built the refineries which were nationised by Saudi Aramco in the 1970's

Philby's son turned out to be a Soviet spy so eff knows what his father was up to.
So really Saudi oil properly belongs to the UK, when Blair finds out expect a gun boat on the Eastern Seaboard at any time

We are talking about 'manufactured goods', not overall exports. Don't forget the whole EU is now Germany's home market and Rotterdam is a huge port, until the rise of China it was the largest port in the world and that was largely due to German exports. In fact a high speed rail link is being built between the Rurhr Valley and Europort (Rotterdam) with the specific aim of delivering German products to the port.

The Democrats suck as a political party.  They are the party of higher taxes and governmental control.  I know I'm just wasting my time saying this to YOU when almost anyone else can understand this very simple argument.

Gasoline prices have NOTHING to do with the political party in power.  Do you understand?  Exxon is owned by the Rockefellars; a big political party.  What is the political affiliation of the Rockefellars?  They are Democrats.  So wise up.

The Brek girl (who I'm sure you support) wants to raise taxes higher than Clinton did.  Why?  The nation's tax rolls are at an all time high.  Let me say that again for you.  Our government is collecting more money in taxes than it did when Clinton was President.  I know this is an exorbitantly hard concept for you to grasp but the reason we are collecting MORE taxes now than we did under Clinton is because taxes were LOWERED.   Taxes were lowered and more people got employed therefore more people paid taxes.  Sinergy, this IS  understood by the most people and you seem like a fairly bright guy.  Don't let party affiliation BLIND YOU to what is going on.

The Brek girl wants to raise taxes.  Is it about generating more money?  Only to a degree.  With more money you can have a larger government that can employ more people; thus more people dependent on the government.  With a larger government, you can create more social entightlement  programs....therefore more people dependent on the government.  With higher taxes you have poorer people making more people dependent on the government and the government harder to challenge.  It quest for power.

Now this is off the subject of the thread but not really.  The Democrats want the Fairness Doctrine so they can silence political speech.  Do you NOT find this dangerous and un-American?   Do you want higher taxes?  Do you want larger government?  Unless you are some welfare recipient, what has the government done for you????????

Correction: the Rockefellar's are not a political party.  They are a big political family and their party affiliation is Democrat.

EXACTLY how would the re-imposition of the pre-existing "Fairness Doctrine" silence your political speech?

It is government control of information. I don't feel the government should be regulating airwaves or the internet. (And if you havn't noticed, Democrats have even been discussing bringing up measures to control and tax the internet as well).

I don't trust the government. And I never will. If I had to choose between a small government or free healthcare.... I choose the small government.

Thomas Jefferson stated that as the size of government increases....so the does the level of corruption and the abuse of power. Government is a necessary evil. And in my opinion, it needs to only be in places that it is absolutely necessary. Government should never be involved in the market of free ideas.

So your problem isn't with the FCCs imposition of the Fairness Doctrine, it's with FCC Regulation of The Public's Airwaves?

If that's the case, why bring the Fairness Doctrine up at all?

The FCC is not preventing opinions from being said. The fairness doctrine may begin to hamper freedom of speech. Which is why the FCC did away with it in the first place.

Democrats want to bring it back because it will force conservatives to include a liberal voice in their discussions. And that's the only way liberals can win. By changing the rules. You put a conservative on the airwaves with a liberal, the conservative will dominate. Just look at Hannity and Colmes for example.

Artificial Legal Entities don't have Rights. They have whatever PRIVILEGES THEIR CREATORS ( The State ) choose to extend to them.

The Declaration of Independence does NOT say "All Legal Entities are created equal, and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights?"

No, it doesn't.

And does the Constitution protect a Corporations privileges to do anything?

No, it doesn't.

So, any Corporation which HAS a FCC License doesn't have any "Free Speech Rights", and any INDIVIDUAL is more than welcome to setup their OWN TRANSMITTER and find out exactly how "Free" the airwaves of this nation truly aren't.

Hannity and Colmes

The right wing jackass spewing vitriole and baseless accusations matched up with a moderate (with right wing leanings) who has the personality of a fire hydrant.

[sarcasm]

Fair and balanced.

[/sarcasm]

Should make it two people like Hannity and Franken.  Then Hannity would be challenged by somebody who actually read a book once and researches what he says.

And Franken deserves a slot with Hannity because???  Hannity is #2 in the nation at what he does.  Al killed a network.  Sean would destroy him.

Apparently, a lot of people enjoy a raving lunatic who lies to them, makes up outlandish stories with no basis in factual reality, and is verbally abusive to guests on his show.

Gotcha.

The only reason he gets away with what he does is because callers are screened, and he is never forced to back up his statements.

I can't decide what is worse ... listening/watching any sort of talk radio or television program ... or getting teeth pulled.

A poster on here once challenged me to listen to Rush for an entire week. Lets see ... he takes a news story, tells you his opinion, them lumps tens of millions of people into one group to bolster his opinion. Then, he moves on to the next story ... and the next ... and the next. I lasted 2 1/3 days.

I watched Rosie O'Donnel once, and actually considered going back to cutting.

America is dying alright ... and it's watching any of this fucking crap that is killing it.
