op,

there are guys a-plenty who will say any old crap to get out of using condoms, the male pill would just be another one. now we are talking about avoidable pregnancy here, not protection from sti's which should always be protected against anyway with condoms. i was talking from a relationship point of view where a guy wants the woman to take pills, or whatever, to protect from pregnancy so he doesn't have to wear a condom.

my point is that i wouldn't trust any guy at the start of a relationship, and if he were to have been taking a pill then unless i'd seen him swallow it everyday then i wouldn't trust my body with him to prevent a pregnancy. if in a long term relationship and children have been had, or not wanted then man up and get the snip.

as blushes said, you most definately said no women.

Yes, this thread was inspired by another where a bunch of women were suggesting that the sole onus of birth control should be on the males. I was trying to explain that if it's ultimately your body and ultimately, you don't want to have children then, there's a matter of personal responsibility. It seems to me that even if men could use a birth control pill, you ladies wouldn't trust them to. I feel sad for you women, meeting all those irresponsible, untrust-worthy people.

No one suggested any such thing.  In fact, it was you who said that a woman who gets pregnant should have to listen to the sperm donor before deciding what to do about it. ... advocating permission to get an abortion .

quote:

Of course, my opinion doesn't kiss the ass of the "pack". This makes me a "woman hater" and other vile things. Actually, it makes me a feminist. My contention has been that if you are that concerned about not getting pregnant, it's up to you to make sure that you don't because, obviously, your partners can't be trusted to do so.

As I stated, earlier: I will not go and get any procedure nor would I ask that of my partner.

And yet you have bitched about not wanting to pay child support.  When you play, you pay... follow the rules.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 12:24:25 PM)

The thing is, people dont believe im on birth control because im on depo prevera.. most men do not just believe a woman when they say shes on the pill the patch the implant the ring or anything else...

Ive been asked to prove it more then once... I have taken my shot in FRONT of partners to prove it..

I wouldnt believe a man was taking it just because he said he was, just like i wouldnt believe hes clean just because he says he was...

Im strongly in the park of... Trust.. but... Verify...

littlewonder -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 12:36:40 PM)

well obviously no men really care to share their answer with you being there's only two who posted anything.....or by not saying anything, we can pretty much guess what their answer is but they're too afraid to state it here due to the women probably tearing them to shreds for doing so lol.

mnottertail -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 12:42:53 PM)

Whovever said men wouldn't take it, sure they would. I will be paying child support until I am 65. Already closed out one book on it, two different women. Turns out I ain't no day at the fuckin' beach.......

Fuckin' Sie A I would take it, two of those, one viagra.  I would do some fuckin' ruttin'......

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 12:49:37 PM)

Ron, the same reason why men say women dont take it.... Because... people do not trust just because someone says so...

For example Im a self maid millionaire.. I can say it all i want doesnt make it true...

Id be all for it in combination with my own.. 4 methods are better then 1...

mnottertail -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 12:52:11 PM)

self maid?  you wanna come and maid for me?

the trust is gonna be at issue even if both are wrapping the working ends of their fucksticks and their fucktick catchers in pallet wrap, somebody is gonna get an idea that stabbing with a fork is gonna make everything better for everyone, I give you that.

Even if the question whether to take a pill is directed at men, I think the answer would always be two-fold, since it would have to include whether that man's female partner would be willing to believe that the pill was being taken effectively to prevent pregnancy.

That's because the majority of men who come on to a woman over 25/30 aren't single. We do know what it means when he can only talk to you during work hours, and won't let you come to his place, let alone the tan line on his ring finger.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 4:24:20 PM)

I'm trying to think of a chemical method that would kill sperm yet allow potency, and I can't think of any. Women produce one or two eggs a month, men millions of sperm with each ejaculation. Hence the notion of a vasectomy being a tad more effective.

Contraception aside, I would be more concerned with STI's---I can absolutely see a contraceptive being used as an excuse to not wear a condom.

Really? "Most"?

Incidentally, DaddySatyr: I did see why you put 'males only' in the title of this thread. Also, I voted 'yes'. No problem taking a tadpole-killer drug.

If you define "most" as "well over half", absolutely. Married, not-quite-separated, bored with the current bint... pretty much the name of the game.

deathtothepixies -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 4:32:01 PM)

well I am currently in a ltr where babies can't happen so the question is kind of irrelevant, but I would like too think that I would have taken it. Maybe a couple in a ltr could share the responsibilities? The pill for either sex has clear side effects so swapping from man to woman as time goes by makes some sense don't you think?
But the main thing to come out of this discussion seems to be the total lack of trust between the sexes, which is really sad.

Ultimately though men can not get pregnant so sorry ladies but the responsibility lies with you in the end. Carry a condom and if he won't wear one he doesn't get to shag you, simple really

Hey, I resemble that remark...
Legally married, living in a hotel room, waiting for my divorce lawyer to call me back so I can go visit my kids...
Doesn't mean the relationship isn't dead as Julius Caesar.
I actually go into fight or flight mode when I think about the ex (well, legally soon to be ex).
(Sorry, I hate having to explain that "yes, I'm married, no, I won't be in 2 months or however long the legal crap takes")

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 4:52:32 PM)

Well, that makes you married, right? Even if you are up front about it. That legal crap can take a long fucking time.

Not derailing the "discussion" over that, just saying...

That's quite a surprise. I had no idea it was that bad.

Kaliko -> RE: Males Only!! Oral Contraception Yes or No? (2/23/2012 8:33:31 PM)

FR

You know, I don't really know where this fits in. There are a few threads floating around out there about all of this. So I'll just say it here.

It kind of really doesn't matter how much we would like men to be a part of our pregnancy and child rearing, and whether the majority of men are good and responsible or not, and whether the laws work in our favor or not, and whether men would take an oral contraceptive or not.

We (women) are the ones that bear children. That puts the responsibility on us. It's not fair, certainly. Men CAN just walk away, and woman plainly can't. Not for nine months, anyway.

All of this talk about what a man should or shouldn't do is just that. Talk. There are plenty, plenty, of decent and responsible men who would take care of their child both before birth and after. And there are plenty of women who won't care properly for her child at all. Doing the right thing is not a dividing line between the sexes. I feel that men get bashed about for all of this unfairly.

I am a woman. I have the ability to bear children. Therefore, if I don't want to become pregnant, it's my responsibility to be sure I don't.

If I do become pregnant unexpectedly (as has been known to happen) it is personally not in my nature to disregard the wishes of the father, whether that father turns out to be the responsible type or not.

There is so much more to all of this than laws and money and access and the question of who takes the contraceptive.
