PrincessDonna -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/9/2007 2:52:25 PM)

As a Pro DOMM I had my subs and slaves pay me a training fee because so many people pay to have their pets trainedthat I thought it was disrespectful to them not to.As for no shows,I would double book sessions at times when I knew that my slave was ready to compete,and if one didnt show,no problem! Worked for me!

In my considerable experience of them vanilla marriages are a form of prostitution, a tythed relatiobship Sexual favours in return for a roof over ones head, a credit card, schools fees paid and sex on a saturday night twice a month if one is lucky. No wonder I am a radical.

Um. You revived an old thread to defend your pro-domme-ness?

MsSaskia -> Pros are nasty, dirty, bad, wicked and unethical? (11/9/2007 11:53:06 PM)

I'm very ethical, thank you.

It's always funny how people who are marginalized by society and considered aberrant and somehow lesser by the mainstream just have to separate out someone from within their group to point at to make themselves feel better. "We may be aberrant, but at least we ain't hoors!  It's understandable, it's transparent, and it's pathetic.

Pro domination is sex work. Big deal. But you've collected some big fetish toy collection and you've got superhuman dommely or subby skills and nobody's beating down your door to offer you compensation?  That must really suck. How dare those women charge?  Who they hell do they think they are?  Cuz everybody knows pro dommes are just trashy little hacks who don't know what they're doing.  Except for Midori; she's different. Oh, and maybe Cleo DuBois.  And some of those other evil, amoral bitches who make money doing what they love and give back in spades to their communities.  Like myself, come to think of it.

The pro dommes I know that were in the leather scene 20 or more years ago are the ones that created a leather scene in their cities.  They were the ones that had the dungeons, had the furniture, had the expertise, and knew everybody that was into everything kinky.  Before the internet, if you weren't a gay leatherman and you wanted to be involved in kink, it was pro dommes doing the work.  Some of my mentors are still the hardest working pro dommes I know and still contribute gladly to their communities, donating furniture and time to leather conferences and acting as a resource on many levels for their communities.  Who, like most of the people here, turn right around and snipe and sneer and take potshots.  I'd like to say it hurts us all deeply and we lose sleep, but that phase lasts about a year and then we get over it and keep doing exactly what we're doing, and up yours if you don't like it.

I know it's fun to decide you're morally superior and you've cornered the market on knowing exactly what's ethical and what's "true" BDSM and that anyone who doesn't match your image of someone in the scene is the devil themselves.  That's all hugely gratifying, knowing in your heart of hearts that you're better than someone like me.  I certainly wouldn't want to take your fun away, but if you ever get a sneaking suspicion that there might be more to pro dommes than what you and all your friends have agree there is, try actually talking to some of us, one on one, in person.  Heck, do it a few times!  Get to know us!  Otherwise, give it a f-ing rest.  We're not going anywhere.

MissMagnolia -> RE: Pros are nasty, dirty, bad, wicked and unethical? (11/9/2007 11:58:33 PM)

One of my journal entries:

I have seen some subs/slaves profiles have a lot of bitching about ProDommes. I am not ProDomme, but seriously, just because it isn't YOUR kink, it doesn't mean it isn't someone elses. If you don't want to pay a ProDomme fine, but why do you feel the need to go on and on about them? As with any profile, don't like what you see? MOVE ON!!! No one cares about what you like or don't like. Bitching just makes you look angry and bitter, NOT attractive traits in a sub/slave.Don't email me with a bitch about this entry, because I SO don't care. Take your temper tantrum elsewhere. MOVE ON!!!

Nuff said.[:)]

Wow.  I thought this thread was long-gone, after EldritchDancer (the OP) showed its contents to his vanilla acquaintances who had asked him whether proDommes were whores.  Naive of me.  No, make that stooopid. :-)

I said this
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=1011482
before, and stand by it.  Anyone ever tried to be non-vanilla in a place with no structure for it whatsoever?  It really sucks, trust me.  I'm grateful for any trailblazer, and if a lot of the community leaders are women (which they *are*) then all the namecallers can just back off.

CuriousLord -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/10/2007 8:03:16 PM)

They're not prostitutes because they're "Domme"'s, and a "Domme" could never be anything so lowly as a prostitute!

Heh.  No, no, they are.  Even a fair many pro-Domme's will openly note that they're prostitutes.  I guess the question just is, do we really hate prostitutes?  It's a question to which I've seen a fair number of decent responses, ranging from, "They're not hurting anyone, so what's wrong with it?" to "They're putting a price tag on the value of a female."

orfunboi -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/10/2007 9:57:01 PM)

"In both cases you are giving something of value just for the pleasure of their company."

By that definition, a massage therapist would be a prostitute, so would any performer, singer, comedian. They are all receiving money just for the pleasure of their company, not to mention talents. How is it different?

What is the problem with all of this anyway?
Why worry about a name, a label? If we are comfortable in what we are then why would we worry about what other people think?
Because people let a label define them instead of defining themselves. The minute you say that a pro-dom is the same as a whore they automaticly think that you're belittling them when infact you haven't. As Dark said, words are only that. It is those that take it as an insult that give those words power over them.

I've noticed this type of gospel on collarme discussions a lot lately, and it's been rubbing Me the wrong way. Heh. Rub.
Maybe it's because there's this subtle "blame the victim" attitude that arises from the statement. For example, My bf called Me a "poop bag" today. I was genuinely hurt and declared that I am not a poop bag. But My bf insisted that My body is indeed a storage for poop, much like a bag - hence, poop bag.
So, having read this post earlier, I was all, "I'm gonna reclaim some mothafucking agency on this shit, and I declared to My unwitting bf: "I AM NOT A POOPBAG, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT LABEL, I GIVE YOU NOR THE WORD ANY POWER BOOYASHAKA!"
Naturally, of course, My bf proceeded to dance around Me like this: [sm=mrpuffy.gif]and call Me "poopbag poopbag my gf is a poopbag" until I crumpled and cried.
Now what, mister discipline?

malcontent -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/11/2007 1:43:13 AM)

As is fairly obvious from my post count, I don't exactly post a lot. But I just feel I have to right now.
I've read a lot of posts on this thread (and so many others) about how Pro-Domme's ruin it for the 'Real Domme's'. Pro-Domme's are just hookers with toys. Pro-Domme's are whores, period.

What the Hell?

At one point in time, I was a pro-sub. I was paid for my time and submission. I never once considered myself a whore. No one I know (okay, there was one notable exception) considered me a whore.
Why the difference depending on which side of the kneel a Woman is on? Why is it never even mentioned?

A Pro-Domme, or a Domme asking for tribute is no more a whore than a vanilla girl (in my world) is. If someone's asking me out, damn right they're paying.

My interpretation?;
Pro-Domme: Shouldn't really require expansion.
Domme requiring tribute: Wary of wankers looking to meet someone who will at least pay for coffee on the first meet.

Edited because I'm not used to posting and didn't mean to reply directly to someone.

rook42 -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/11/2007 2:21:10 AM)

On Whores:

Really depends on how you define whore.

If you mean "has sex with people for explicit monetary compensation", then no. Or not normally; define sex, as old Bill would say. It's really just a question of semantics.

I think the normal meaning implicit to the word "whore", on the other hand, is a abandonment of values for material gain.Whether or not it's done for money or other benefits really doesn't matter.As such, im not too sure that most whores can even be defined too easily as whores; most sex is decidedly not an abandonment of values, as most sex is decidedly "not a bad thing"TM. As this applies to professional topping: I think that kink really shouldn't be seen as much as a dirty little secret 'bad thing' and more of an expression of personal preference. Kind of like sex. There's really no reasonable value to be sacrificed by more kink, unless you believe chastity to be a value.

An example of a REAL(as compared to all the fakers you find on this site :P ) whore might a corporate whore. Or the crew from TV's "Jackass". Or a good majority of politicians.

;) There are a lot of Chanel fragrances, Coco is one, named after her (she has a lot of products named after her..). And No. 5 of course... were you saying that's your fave? I don't like that one or the popular Chance much.. phew. :P

hermione83 -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/11/2007 4:10:38 AM)

PS: I don't like comparing massage therapy, singing, etc, whatever to pro-sexual-whatever. Money for sexual gratification is the oldest profession, whatever you want to call it, and it isn't money for the 'pleasure of one's company' - there is a difference. Even if they're paying just to fantasize about you, in a sexual way... And really, people pay singers to make beautiful music to inspire to entertain.. and massage therapists for relaxation or healing etc etc.. neither really for the pleasure of one's company. Not sure what that is, but I wouldn't really want to take money for that either. I'm a friend for free.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Pro-stitute? (no flames please) (11/11/2007 5:26:05 AM)

I can't believe I read the whole thing... there for a while I was pretty sure it was getting away from me... WOW!!

Years and years ago (read "decades") I worked on a phone sex line. Yeah, it's prostitution. It was legal because it was listed as phone sex counseling. The simple fact that it was listed as counseling didn't make the wives of the men that called in and paid $100 an hour any happier and they weren't buying the counseling bit anymore then the girls working there. If going pro isn't some form of prostitution then why go to so much hassle to keep it just this side of illegal? I'm not judging anyone, I'm just calling a spade a spade. If that's your thing in life, go for it, there is a need for it out there.

Personally, I'm not looking for "service" in that respect, I'm looking for a lifelong commitment, a deep relationship. And let me tell you... finding someone that is ok with NOT contributing financially isn't all that easy either!

I did have sex with my wife however and don't give her a penny for the kids....
just need to make a few cheery ironic sarcasms this morning that's all.....
