those of you who might speak out about what a crime against humanity fatness is here would never go up to a smoking stranger and take a cigarette out of their hand.

Yeah, having trouble with the quotes on here. But in response, no, none of us would go up to a smoking stranger and take their cig away, of course not. But would we go up to a really fat stranger who was eating a burger and take it away? Again, of course not.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 1:55:06 AM)

America is the land of the obese poor.

That speaks volumes as well.

Probably have to add that to the list of why people all over the world hate America;

No. 178, Obese Poor.

(in response to annabelle)

You're only up to #178? Lolz [sm=biggrin.gif]

NeedToUseYou -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:08:46 AM)

I have a question. I just looked at annabelles(spelling) and merrysbrat pics. And neither of you look like what I'd call fat. So, my question is what female would you consider normal weight? The heaviest non-fat woman(celebrity preferred so we all know who it is).  And who would you ideally like to have the same proportionate weight as? Those are two seperate questions.

I'm curious because I think what has some of you in a tizzy is just "thinking" your fat. Unless they are old pics or something.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:18:39 AM)

Liv Tyler maybe?  I mean, I personally would love to look like, say, along the lines of Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie, but I know a lot of people consider that too thin,  just a personal  preference.

hrmmm, yeah, if that's your guage, I'd say your at a greater risk of being underweight at some point than what I'd call fat. Those are the three skinniest people in the US.  LOL. Everything is in our heads though I guess.

You know looking at your pics I'd guess you are 15-20 pounds(didn't see your ass), LOL, from ideal weight.

Anyway, you don't seem to have a weight issue from your pics, maybe I just don't see people as fat, until they are bigger than you'd might see them as fat. I'd say that is more of a self-esteem issue than a direct weight problem. Just my opinion though for what it's worth.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:32:45 AM)

Liv Tyler is big... have you seen her lately? I mean she isn't fat, but she's no skeleton. I'm actually around sixty pounds from goal weight. But, how is it a self-esteem issue? Just wondering?

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:34:54 AM)

BTW, I wasn't trying to claim Paris and Nicole are a 'normal weight' for women,I know they're underweight, I just think they're pretty, is all. But, you know so is Queen Latifah.

Liv is big!!! I haven't seen her since lord of the rings.

Well, I might have to re-evaluate that previous analysis if Liv Tyler is bigger now, she used to be really thin.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:37:40 AM)

She's big for her, at least. Maybe not compared to most women, but heavier than her LOTR days if I remember correctly.

I looked up some more modern pics of Liv.

The only reason I said self-esteem, is if you thought Liv Tyler(As I remembered her), as being the biggest normal weight woman, well, that is an unrealistic goal for almost everyone without torturing yourself to get to. So, the assumption was since the heaviest woman was skinnier than most woman could conceivably get and remain healthy, then your view of what is and isn't fat was unattainable for most people, which would lead to self-esteem issues because you'd always see yourself as heavy.

But Liv is a lot bigger so it throws all my pop psyche crap out the window. LOL.

Can't get it right all the time.[:)]

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 2:55:03 AM)

I wasn't though, trying to say that all women should strive to look like her, just IMO she's the closest to fat I can think of in a celebrity. What I mean when I criticize on this thread are the women who are truly BIG and use BBW as a mask to hide from their weight.

Sinimint -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 3:03:23 AM)

Going back to the original post - the question was mainly about health issues.  I have concern too - overweight people are in the higher risk area for heart disease, this is a proven fact.  I love curvy women, but really overweight people are at risk and I wonder if they ever think about that?

One person said that slim people dont eat well etc etc and that fat people are healthier.  I am so over this - truly I am - I have heard it time and again that just because you are slim or skinny you have an eating disorder or dont eat much or whatever.  Ridiculous.

I think people are beautiful if they feel beautiful, but the original poster was talking about HEALTH issues........... and there is just no disputing the fact that many problems arise from being overweight.

An interesting website link from National Heart Foundation:

Pretty much I was just trying to figure out why you might think you are large.

that came from
quote:

Same with me, I'm fatter than I'd like because I'm lazy and used to eat bad, which is exactly why I don't flaunt my weight around. It's nothing for me to be proud of.

So, I was trying to see what you guage as "fat" versus normal. As the way I see someone of your weight is not that much above what I'd think was ideal healthy weight.

That's all there was to it. I was curious, to how your view of weight matched with what I saw. A perception experiment.

Alrighties, well I feel I've sufficiently helped beat this forum into the ground, heading off to bed.

sublimelysensual -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 4:14:24 AM)

Although I could be wrong, I think when some of the posters have talked about genetics, they didn't necessarily mean just disorders, but heredity. Heredity plays a huge role in one's weight and body type, and it's not something a person has any control over (though I admit it would be wonderful if we did..no thanks mom, I don't want your fat gene..lol.)  That being said..I'm about 50 lbs over my ideal weight. I have weighed within 5 lbs of my current weight for over 15 yrs now, including when I was playing tennis in college and doing two workouts a day, and when I was swimming competitively after college (practices usually encompassing at least 2-3 miles per day). And it wasn't that after the activity I was going out and binge eating, or filling four plates at a buffet. Yes, there are people who overeat and don't exercise, but there are other factors, and heredity is a huge one, just do a web search if you need proof.

... you cannot sit down and try to talk about the obesity epidemic, or fat acceptance, without taking in ALL the factors, and that's not just limited to laziness and overeating.

95% + of the obesity problem in America is due to a poor diet and personal inactivity.

Sorry to burst your bubble but because America is rich, America is fat and lazy.

Doesn't really apply, look at countries such as Norway which on a scale of wealth per person is much richer than the US but on an obesity scale is much "slimmer".
Also on the genetics argument, it may stack up for some small local groupings but for the US as a whole it doesn't - too diverse a gene pool. Take some of the states whihc have high Scandinavian origin. The gene pool is similar to Scandinavia and yet the visible excessive obesity (grossly obeise) level is much higher. Wlak around in Sweeden, Denmark, Finland etc and then Walk around in Minneosta. The size - height, sleteton stucture etc is of a similar gene stock. The boby mass index is a reflection of life style not genetics. Then consider that the two racial groups in the US with the highest rates of obesity are not caucasian....... !.

"Hidden" fat and sugar content is very high in staple diet foods in the US. This has increased in other countries staple diets but not to the same degree. Combine that with an inability in many areas to even walk between shops let alone to the shops and higher cost of non processed foods and............. bingo.

There is also a big difference between just obeise and mobidly obeise.

mamabox -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 4:59:17 AM)

Here I come again.  LOL.  I've been reading the posts along with you guys and have been seeing a lot of the heredity card being dealt.  My mother's side is mostly pretty average sized people.  Some of them quite tall, the men mostly.  My fathers side is quite the opposite.  The tallest women is, well, me at 5'3.  My aunts and grandmother are either under 5' or just over.  Their weights are from 250lbs to over 300lbs.  I guess being 5'3 and 180, while still well over the reccomended ideal weight, isn't that bad considering the gene pool I'm wading in.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/13/2007 5:33:47 AM)

My dads entire side of the family is very short and fat, my mom's side of the familt tends to run a bit taller, but still just as fat, it doesn't mean I can't be skinny, I just have to work a lot harder. Heredity is only an excuse up to a point.

As far as in shape goes, when I was doing all that exersize, I was really in shape (much better shape than I am now, I dare say).  Yet all everybody could do was look at a woman who weighed 150 lbs more than her ideal weight and treat me with disgust.  (Not everybody, again, my Sir has always thought I was beautiful, even when I was 270 lbs and a size 28 womans.)

i think your Sir is absolutely correct too, dear one.

then again, i've known you for years now.  and you're beautiful inside and out.

kitten, who loves many people...and is pleased to see someone else she knows here.
