I agree, I could have just ignored her; being human, I have flaws, like everyone. One of those is despising weasely behaviour, which she exhibited. But again, yes, I could have used a different tact. For some, likely quite a few people, illegal immigration IS a racial issue, like it or not. Personally, I don't like illegal immigration, it hurts this country in many ways, but I understand why some break the law to get here. Tough situation with few clear-cut answers, in my opinion.
Wrong. Sorry, try again. Illegal immigration is only a race issue for people "of race" who like to whine and cry and throw their lil race card to try and make those who are for obeying the law look racist. MANY MANY people have said they want immigrants to come here LEGALLY regardless of where they come from. By definition, that makes it not about race. It's about the lack of desire to be AMERICAN versus the desire to sneak in here, steal jobs, money and commit crimes free and clear and then scurry back to where ever they came from also free...from punishment. It's always amusing to me how quickly something becomes a race issue when someone 'of race' throws the race card. You NEVER hear any white folks (aside from the obvious KKK and such) making references to race. The first ones to bring it up are almost ALWAYS the ones 'of race' who claim they are being slighted. Example: Farmers Branch, Texas is literally down the street from me. In the papers and on the TV there were many news segments and stories about their vote on banning apartment complexes and realators from renting to illigal immigrants. Never once did those trying to get that bill passed make ANY reference AT ALL to 'race.' But lo and behold, the mexicans spoke up immediately saying how racist it was. One radio host here who spoke with a proponent of the bill said "you never mentioned mexicans in that bill, did you, you mentioned illegal immigrants and all these mexicans raised their hands. Perhaps you should start carding folks at thos protests...might cure a lot of the problem. It's funny how the guilty always self-identify based on one word. Sad, however that they have to resort to claiming racism to make their point....because otherwise they'd have none. And for those of you attacking peepeegirl's use of wetback......you know, just about any country's citizens can be 'wetbacks' when they get here. Because they have to cross SOME body of water to get to this country, except maybe for Canada....which they may have a few rivers I'm not thinking of as well, so there you go. Wetback is made a racist term by those 'of race.' Just like the "n word" you ask any black person what the difference is between a black person and a "n-----" and you get a dissertation on the differences. Even that cartoon "The Boondocks" had the main character go into a monologue about the differences between a black person and a "n-----" but oh NOOOOO have a white person say that word?? All hell breaks loose. Racism will never cease to be an issue until those 'of race' let it the fuck go.
