I never thought to give you this example before.  I met Marissa on here after basically stalking her for 3 weeks.  I sent well thought out email after well thought out email.  I kept going because I knew she was actually reading them and was waiting to stumble into the thing that would finally get her attention....in my case a stupid joke.  The point is, if you see someone you really want on here sometimes a singel Hi how are you just isn't going to cut it.

This is to no one in particular:

The Internet is pretty much a text based media and therefore when initially contacting someone it pays to take a little time to write more than "what up yo?" The whole "going on looks alone" idea is silly because anyone can post any picture and claim the photo is theirs... it takes brains to write a coherent sentence and most trolls cannot, nor will they take the time to do so.

I ask for more than one line emails because I believe that (on the Internet) the best way to start a conversation is to prove to be a little more interesting than everyone else. Saying "Hello" in real life is fine but you have to do far more on the Internet in order to stand out from the crowd.

Exactly. Online the rules are different, your first impression may be your last {you could end up blocked}, in r/t you have other factors so a simple, 'hi, how are you doing' would work just fine. Heck, if almost any person  on the boards who came up and said 'hi, how are you doing?' they would get more than a few words out of me, most likely a conversation {gasp}.

Besides, I delete any emails with slang or no intelligence.

I can verifiy that leaving a poor first impression gets you blocked...I was blocked many many times lol.

I would walk up to her, look her directly in the eyes and say "hello" a powerful simple introduction, She will look at me and decide if saying hello back is in her interest. Based on what? Oh yes phsyical attraction.

I have been attracted to people online that were far from "good looking" because they were brilliant, funny, and they made me smile. On the other hand, I have spoken with men that  were "good looking" but I had nothing to say to them. I am usually not attracted based upon a picture because anyone can steal a picture and pretend it is them... this is the internet. One word emails got one line back from me, thanks but no thanks, if that. I did not demand more, but if they were really interested in me I figured they could do better than that. If they were not really interested in me... screw em.. there are 100s emailing me just like them.

And without having the benefit of being in a face to face real life environment it behooves us and them to take the extra time to say more than hello.

I am one of those people that someone has to grow on me intellectually to get into my pants.. if they cannot appeal to my brain nothing else is going to happen. It does not matter how pretty they are. I am not impressed by looks, I am impressed by what their pie hole emits

It is nice cleavage, if I don't say so myself.

I'm just as arrogant and conceited as the person who started this thread but for me looks have little to do with it- if someone can't muster up more than one word it doesn't matter what he or she looks like. A one word email is as attractive as watching someone grunt and scratch himself. But every now and then someone comes up with a really good word and that is all I need.
