It's also flown below the UN flag.

You're right.

"New York
prohibits the UN flag above the U.S. except at UN HQ. Flags which cast contempt on U.S. flag are prohibited. Foreign flags on public property are prohibited. "

Popeye, you should also realize that this is not a new idea and those who have tried this have met with fierce opposition from Veteran's groups, their communities and some have had their properties damaged as a result and even had their lives threatened.

Navy, there IS distress in the land!
Do you want your country to be part of the North American Union with Canada and Mexico and we all meld into one big country with no "U.S. Constitution"?
My flag will be flown UPSIDE DOWN to send a message to those BASTARDS in Washington who would even THINK of such a TREASONOUS idea!
Bush and his rich buddies want to kill the middle class and make themselves even richer and this will do it!
They already screwed over the working class in this country, didn't they?

You are using Old Glory to make a POLITICAL STATEMENT. there is NO IMMENENT DAGER TO LIFE OR PROPERTY.
And actually with unemployment down, stock market at an all time high, and more middle class citizens becoming millionares, I dont see them getting screwed at all.

And look at the EU each country retained it's own governments, it's just an ALLIANCE like NATO.

   Navy:
Not sure how you wound up with my name on top of Popeye's quote, but I expect you will figure it out and make sure not to do it again.

Not on US Soil, on US soil NOTHING is flown above Old Glory, if anything the UN flag is on a seperate pole

Mistoferin, there's a lot of Veterans that will be doing it.
I'm a Veteran.

There's only one "flag" that flies above the American flag and it's not really a flag it's a pennant, the church pennant.

L.A. in New Hampshire they burn "U.N." flags in public!
We did it after a Memorial Day celebration.
Who was going to stop us?
There were about 100 of us Veterans and three cops too.
Doused it with gas, poof!

How about a rule to keep the flames down.  Only people who actually own a US flag that regularly flies from their home can object to this.

I do. Whether I am on my ship or at home,  there is a Flag flying from a pole, with the proper illumination at night, and it goes to half mast on all appropriate days. Including(but not limited to) the 30 days after the death of a president, Memorial Day, Pearl Harbor day, 9-11, etc... and other time ordered by the President of the United States(who by the way is techinically the only authority who can legally order the lowering of flags nation wide)
.

UN HQ is not US property, it is considered UN property

I fly the flag.  My UM is on the Honor Guard, raising and lowering the flag with respect 5 days a week, and will be leading the Pledge of Allegiance at a local ceremony this week; Dad and an uncle were Navy veterans; my UM's grandfather was killed at Pearl Harbor while serving his country under the U.S. flag (leaving a young pregnant widow); and I have ancestors all the way back to the Revolutionary War who fought for this country.  Do I qualify?

And I am sure that alot of them won't and alot of them will also be offended by it. Personally, I think it's disgraceful thing to do and I will certainly not be participating.

Where was all the "offense" when illegal aliens flew it upside down under a Mexican flag?

Well popeye, I am quite certain that anyone who would be offended if you flew your flag upside down would have been equally offended when they did it. C'mon....make sense. Two wrongs don't a positive make.

Mist, you didn't answer my question.
You sound like a politician.
So, the illegal aliens get a "pass" again?

Had I known about it I would be offended. but not disgusted like I am with you. YOU ARE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN AND A VETERAN, it is YOUR FLAG that you are disrespecting and I hope someone sees your flag when it's upsides down and takes it from you, because you dont deserve to own it if you will treat it like a piece of propoganda

What exactly do you want popeye...do you want me to compile a list of names of everyone who took offense? If you want to fly your flag upside down...have at it. *I* think it is disgusting and *I* will not be joining you in your pathetic display.
