The original poster implies that there cannot be one without the other. That's a little "tree in the forest", no? I'm still a dom if I haven't a sub. If I meet a sub and we get along it does not make who she was in the Before Time any less of a sub. IMHO the only difference is that now each has focus. Perhaps it is more like the lens and the eye - the lens doesn't change, and neither does the eye, but when the two are put together everything becomes so much more clear.

Damn... that was almost fuckin' poetical and ...stuff.
