Hell, I could support Drug ABUSE.

It's ADDICTION, and being a filthy Junkie, like "Rush" Limbaugh which I object to.

( Isn't "Rush" a trade name for Amyl Nitrate was called??? WTF??? Bill Hicks was right about Rush being impotent, and being unable to get an erection, WHAT ELSE did he get right??? )

additionally, I  suspect that rush is a cross dresser as well as barney franks sissy bitch, seem like always that a skunk is gonna smell his own hole first

but I hit enter too early...

This ann coulter twat kinda looks like the dogs had her under the porch and played with her----might just be tv, but  if  I  looked like that (never mind the fact that she is profoundly stupid) I guess I would kinda stay in the crowd outside of Good Morning America shots, oh long about the 34th row when the cameras panned.

I dont care whether a person abuses drugs or is an addict.

I object to Mr. HolierThanThou demanding on his radio show that all drug abusers and addicts get jail terms, and then ask people to be nice and forgiving to him when he is CAUGHT being a drug abuser / addict.

Classic example of "Do as I say, not as I do."  The ethical, spiritual, and moral bankruptcy of such people is awe-inspiring.  What is even more mind-boggling is that people tune into his radio show, hold him in such high esteem, and seek to implement the vacuous twaddle that emanates from his pie hole in their own lives.

This is the same sort of prolific and convoluted idealism that strikes the marrow in neocons when called to war to clean up what they started, ergo, id est---no draft and no military experience in the whole of the administration.

Well, isn't that appropriate?

They have No Clue, No Ethics, and No Honor to go along with the No Experience....

But they did a bang-up job for the oil companies.

And the mercenaries.

Too funny.

Bill Hicks, we miss ya! He burned too bright, for too short a time.

Imagine him and Sam Kinison in a hotel room for extended periods of time.

No way it could have lasted.

Unfortunately, the worst punishment for the crimes committed appears to be some of the congress,  albeit not in any meaningful way, talking about fairness doctrine, and furthermore by mentioning it further abridging their godly rights, and leading us further into a police state to protect the same.

farglebargle -> RE: Ann Coulter continues to embarass herself. (6/29/2007 5:37:53 PM)

Well, they're ALSO talking about the Contempt of Congress citation, and reviewing the way it's played out in the past ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contempt_of_Congress ) eventual compliance appears to be essentially guaranteed.

Stall and Delay. What else would a criminal gang do?

I agree. However CBS doesn't OWN the airwaves they use.

THE PEOPLE DO.

In theory, yes. But let’s be honest, it is a legal fiction. It is the government that owns the airwaves.

quote:

So, why should The People really give a shit about whether THEIR LESSEES make a dime?

For the same reason that a landlord should give a shit about whether their tenants make a dime. If people can’t afford what you’re charging, you’re not going to make a sale.

quote:

And is it better or worse for The People ( NOT THE ALEs who operate on the airwaves ) for there to be a profit component to THEIR AIRWAVES?

Better. Definitely better. It’s is revenue for the government (from the licence fees and from taxes from the corporation as well as taxes from the corporation’s gainfully employed workers). But you are still shying away from the central question. Should (not can, should) the government regulate the content of radio shows? Actually, since most things in politics can be reduced to "where do we draw the lines?", the correct question is – to what extent should the government regulate the content of radio shows? I think they should regulate it as little as possible. If you really want the people to decide, then let the people decide (via ratings). It is arrogant and condescending to say, "I will decide what the people want."

As a general comment, I just wanted to add: every time someone says "Rush" I don’t think of a hypocritical blowhard on the radio – I think:

"A modern-day warrior... mean, mean stride... today’s Tom Sawyer... mean, mean pride."

Oh man, I have sooooo, just dated myself.

mnottertail -> RE: Ann Coulter continues to embarass herself. (6/30/2007 9:13:57 PM)

well, all well and fine, then let the people decide all of it, get out of Iraq, impeach bush, get the government out of the business of legislating morality and spying, and dump the religious bullshit.

I would be fine with a comprehensive package, but to listen to some asswipe ruminant who has a good lead in beat and then wanes immediately to offal and ignorance is not something that I strongly support, no more than I support the government.

Since we have drifted away from Ann Coulter and into the topic being discussed on the "freedom of press in danger" thread, I'll make my response to this over there.  I feel like I'm doing a jig.

Corporations don't have rights. And whatever PRIVILEGES are extended to ALEs created by The People, can be regulated by The People in any way they wish.

If you wanna have Rights, don't try to hide responsibility behind a Corporation.

Buy a Transmitter. Don't get a Broadcast License. Broadcast Anyway. Accept the Penalties.

THAT IS FREEDOM. Freedom to accept the consequences.

"All MEN are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights"

All CORPORATIONS are created by The State, and their PRIVILEGES are inherently limited by the limits of their Creator, the State.

i had look up at the topic again.....anyways...
ann coulter is to repubs,,what  rev al is to dems. :(

Now THIS i agree with....and i am a republican.

Well then it shows the two of you don't have the ability to think things through with logic....And I think this is an accurate statement based on the analogy.

Ann Coulter is a best selling author....I doubt many blacks whether Republican or Democrat buy her books...Meaning that the copies she sells are predominately being purchased by conservative white America....Which has a tremendous amount of influence in this country today..Al Sharpton would at best be considered a "black leader"....If he has ever written a book I don't recall it....I don't think many whites no matter how far left consider him in any way shape or form to speak for the party or would consider him to be relevant to a discussion other than trying to bring the black vote to the table.. He is a non-issue when it comes to white America, unless he is acting as the voice of "black America."  So why would this be a very strong analogy?

The comparison should be Coulter is to Republicans what Al Franken is to Dems.....But aside from them both being best selling authors you would be hard pressed to find the same hate directed at people outside the arena in Franken's writings that you will readily find in Coulter's.  If you disagree with this statement then you need to read a few of their books.

uwinceismile -> RE: Ann Coulter continues to embarass herself. (7/1/2007 7:24:08 AM)

ann coulter in my opinion is an ass who so many equate with the republican party...
rev al is an ass , who so many equate with the democratic party
for better or for worse on both ends.
that was the analogy i was making....
but u are correct,,all franken is an ass as well ;)    lol
