farglebargle -> WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 4:53:18 PM)

"Impatient with the "lagging" pace of the investigation into the U.S. attorney firings, Specter said he asked Fielding during a phone call Wednesday night whether the president would agree to transcripts on the interviews. Fielding's answer: No."

If they've done nothing wrong, they've got nothing to be afraid of, do they?

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 4:58:45 PM)

He did it for Clinton  Why not do it for himself?

Musicmystery -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:02:24 PM)

Transcripts, you see, contain facts..............

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:03:06 PM)

popeye1250 -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:04:12 PM)

Huh? When did a Clinton administration member refuse to comply with a Congressional subpoena? I must have missed something.

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:05:38 PM)

That was the first time that Bush refused subpeona's   It was for Clinton in 2001

farglebargle -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:16:01 PM)

I'm not getting it. Do you have a link, or some sort of exposition on this?

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:17:42 PM)

sure   your link second paragraph from teh bottom

Lordandmaster -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:19:57 PM)

He's right.  It was in 2001.

LOL  I don't think that will make Farglebargle happy.

Would that be the second paragraph from the bottom that states the Bush administration refused to provide administration documents from the Clinton administration?

quote:

It was the second time in his administration that Bush has exerted executive privilege, said White House deputy press secretary Tony Fratto. The first instance was in December 2001, to rebuff Congress' demands for Clinton administration documents.

Or are you referring to some other second paragraph from the bottom?

Sinergy

p.s. fish, barrel, bang.

farglebargle -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:28:21 PM)

So, what happened?

Doesn't seem like the end of the story.

Did the tame republicans in Congress say, "Oh, that's going to come in useful as a strategy later on, so OK, let's let this drop."

Was "Executive Priv." actually claimed, formally to cover this?

Everyone who's been paying ANY attention knows I don't give a shit about Clinton, it's just like, where's "The Rest Of The Story"?

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:36:15 PM)

LOL   I won't argue that   But the rest of the story hasn't been written yet so I guess we will just have to wait and see.    Maybe Congress will go the the Supreme Court and he'll have to turn over both sets of papers.   Maybe none   Only time will tell.   LOL   but for now who cares   LOL

Sinergy -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:38:05 PM)

fargle,

He misread the paragraph.  It was AnencephalyBoy who refused to provide Clinton's documents, not Clinton refusing to provide his own.

Think twice, post once.

I think that is what I said

farglebargle -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 5:46:57 PM)

No, I'm clear that on 9/7/2001, there's an archive report that

"The House Government Reform Committee on Thursday prepared to subpoena the Bush administration for documents relating to Justice Department investigations of the Clinton administration's fund-raising scandal."

The OBVIOUS question is "Were those subpoena's ever filed?"

KenDckey -> RE: WHY is the Bush Admin SO SCARED OF TRANSCRIPTS??? (6/28/2007 6:38:03 PM)

I would say yes they were based upon the 12/13/2001 memo which states they were signed by Bush
