Again, you are generalising 'people'.
And apologising and blaming your Aspergers for how you type and react is bull too.  I could list a number of 'problems' I might have, it's still no excuse for being how I am.  I am straight talking, up front and sometimes lack empathy for others - I am not going to blame that on a syndrome or anything else or use it as an excuse.  That is exactly what you are complaining about the unemployed and homeless.  Like you say - some people use excuses to cover their ass - you included. Double standards.

I thought people with Aspergers liked logic and fact?  If so then I'm honestly surprised to see that commment.  I'm not going to do the research for you, but its been very well documented for the last two decades that in the US the middle class has been continually shrinking, the number of poor increasing, the cost for college steadily increasing (the main means of upward mobility these days).

So overall in the US it has become harder to become successful, not easier.

First of all, I didn't apologize for jack. I'm not sorry for what I said.

2nd of all, I'm not using my aspergers as an excuse. Needing an excuse implies being sorry for what I said, and I'm not. I wish more people felt just like I do.

My lack of empathy isn't "blamed on a syndrome." It is CAUSED by a syndrome. Medical fact. Deal with it or don't. Either way, I don't consider my lack of empathy to be a negative trait. I consider most people to be bleeding hearts with too much empathy.

I can't speak for England or Europe because I don't live there.

In america, jobs are everywhere and I have no use for some SOB too lazy to go apply for one.

Hell, my aunt is 55yrs old, obese, had no GED or high school education, and she is never without a job. Why? Because she might be stupid but she isn't lazy. She walks the sidewalks putting in applications at every establishment she comes to until someone hires her. If her dumb ass can do it, anyone can.

Sorry, no sympathy here except for children who have no choice in the matter. I'm not even sympathetic to women. Their ass could get a job too. Most homeless women I've come in contact with have spent their whole lives popping out puppies instead of getting a job and an education. Why should I feel sorry for them? Lazy people are useless....I don't really care what happens to them.

America is a land of opportunity...if you can't be successful here, you're probably just a useless human being that we don't need anyway.

Well, here in Maine, jobs are VERY scarce.  I commute nearly 3 hours a day to get to my job and return home... B has been looking for a job for a year since being fired from her last job for getting pregnant.  She has a college degree and 20 years experience and no mental problems to speak of.  You tell me why she should take a job at Subway for $7.50 an hour for 30 hours a week that won't even begin to cover childcare?  Perhaps if she bragged about being "diminished" in some capacity or wore her mental problems proudly like a badge she'd find employment.

I am happy for you that you live in the golden land of opportunity, but your broad, generilzing statements just show how ignorant and close-minded you truly are.

Are you saying that people with Aspergers should just suck it up and quit being so lazy, then they would be able to empathize like normal people?

Cause it sure comes across like that.

Losing your job for being pregnant is illegal and if she was smart, she'd sue.

In a perfect world, it would have happened like that.

There wasn't a lawyer in the State that would touch the case, because it simply cannot be proven.

Nope - Geeky did.  If you go back and read what was orignally said.
She apologised and said it was because she talks like she talks because of Aspergers.  Why not just say, I talk as I talk and deal with it instead of using aspergers as an excuse?  It was a double standard in comparrison to the rest of what she said on the thread.

What did they write down as the official reason for termination?

Was her job performance otherwise perfect?

thanks for proving MY point.....someone else sees remaining homeless as independance, but you see it differently..........in your mind it shows pride and stupidity........so you MUST be right huh?  they must change the way their mind works in order to come to your way of thinking........

but you dont have to make any effort to change or see the other side of anything because you like the way your brain works......

im chalking it up to youre young and.....well you know the rest of that saying i am sure.

Find the quote. I didn't apologize for shit. I did say that my lack of empathy is due to AS but I never apologized for it.

I don't need any excuse. I LIKE how I am, whether it's due to aspergers or plain ole bitchiness.

Again with the illogical factually incorrect information.  Under the equal opportunity federal laws race, gender, age, and disabilities are protected classes, but being pregnant isn't a protected class.  Some states, such as my state of Connecticut have sexual orientation has a protected class however none of them have pregnant as a protected class.  Almost all states are fire at will states, which means except for being a member of a protected class (under which you'd have some legal recourse), you can be fired whenever the employer wants to do so.

So no she wouldn't have a very strong case for suing her employer because she was pregnant.

You are as misinformed as a KKK member. Yes, I took it that far. The reason being is that your display of IGNORANCE is par w/ their level. It must have been nice to have daddy pay your way through life and not worry about where your next meal came from, or how you were going to find a SAFE place to lay your head for the night. (See, right there, I just made an ASSUMPTION about you) I am not here to change you, or tell you to think like me, but if you are going to spew garbage (as one poster put it) let if be FACTUAL garbage, not ignorant misinformed garbage. We live in a hypocritical nation bent on financial greed, which is factually my opinion. We have cheap fast food establishments on every corner, with food full of the wonderful ingredients that is putting us on the fast track to becoming the leader in obesity in the world. While everywhere ppl turn they are being constantly reminded of how much they aren't like the "perfect" mold (which by the way does NOT exist) of how poor they are, or how obese they are. Couple that with the frustrating, and often fruitless job search you have the perfect receipe for govt. assisted living, or even becoming homeless.
Empathize, don't empathize, I don't care. I do care when you are trying to preach to ppl your opinions, and pass them off as fact.

There is FMLA, but you have to be at the job for 12 months before you are eligible.. she found out we were pregnant, and like any good employee would do, let her company know ASAP.. they went ahead and brought in an "assistant" for her to train so there wouldn't be backup during her absenses due to appointments, etc., and in the 11th hour, just before FMLA kicked in they released her, stating poor performance issues, numerous write ups, etc., all of which were simply not true.. we still have the stack of documentation we had gathered for an attorney.

So the decision had to be made to waste the time and money to commit professional suicide or just face the fact that since Maine is an "employment at will" state, it doesn't really matter.  The EEOC was notified and there was an investigation for both her illegal firing, but also the hostile work environment she was forced to endure (like her boss telling her "Well, you need to just go ahead and get your morning sickness under control.")

Edited because I can't type for shit today.
