Ok, silly question but one I was thinking about this morning.  Sometimes products/foods/ etc. come out and you just love them.  You buy them and keep buying them and then they stop being made and sold.  What are some of your favorite items/brands/etc. over the years that are no longer being made?

What got me thinking about this today was wishing they still made "Rose Milk."  I don't know if anyone remembers that or not but it was lotion that smelled just like roses and came in a tall, pink, plastic bottle shaped like an old milk bottle with a picture of a rose on it.  I loved that stuff and wish they'd bring it back just like it was.  Some other things I yearn for that are no longer being made (or at least they aren't available anywhere where I've lived):
"Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" shampoo
"Body On Tap" shampoo - made with beer
"Tickle" deodorant - pink and had a huge rollerball to apply the deodorant with
Pearl Drops toothpaste (may still be on the market.  I just never find it).
Marathon - delicious caramel candy bar.  Long and thin - nothing but chocolate-covered caramel.  Simply scruptious!
Google - peanut butter and chocolate spread that used to come in a short, round jar with owl eyes on it.  We loved this as kids.

Just some of the things they should bring back.  I'm sure there are others.  Anyone else have any faves they remember from their younger days?............luci

Rose Milk was wonderful, but I really miss the original Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo. Dark green, with a scent that always vaguely reminded me of a freshly-cut Christas tree.

It is eerie that you mention that because I almost listed that!  I remember it well.  It had a drawing of a woman with long flowing hair with all these flowers in and around it.  That label is what first caught my eye and caused me to buy it.  Then, once I did, I loved it.  I hated it when they changed it and made a whole line of them.  It's definitely not the same.  There was also a type of apple pectin shampoo that was great, though I can't remember the exact name and a type of placenta (ugh!) shampoo that was good also.

One of the best perfumes I remember smelling was discontinued as well.  It was cheap but smelled like berries.  I used to buy it at Rite Aid and it came in a tall, frosted glass bottle and had a lilac-colored metal cap.  I loved that, though I can't remember the name of that either.  Sometimes I think I must've imagined it because no one else ever seems to remember it when the topic of perfume comes up...lol.....luci

I haven't seen a Marathon bar, but there is something out now that sounds similar-Nestle's Treasures with caramel filling...especially good if you put them in the refrigerator!
Oh, and I looked online, and Rose Milk is still being made...Pink plastic bottle, but probably the same product.

This is more of an "ETC" than anything.
Common sense.
This is NOT aimed at anyone in this thread.
I'm just annoyed that so many people lack common sense these days.
I was trying to think of a product, but can't think of anything I loved that has been discontinued since the early 80s.........

Those cute little maternity looking tops that used to go so well with the bell bottoms in the 70's.

Are you referring to those shirts that have the empire waist line? If so, I believe they still do make them, and that they are called baby doll tops........I own a few like that.

Jello 1-2-3   I loved that stuff.

Vermont Country Store carries loads of old products that you'd think they don't make anymore.    www.vermontcountrystore.com

And luci, drugstore.com has rose milk, but it's not in a milk bottle.  I didn't check VCS, but they may have it.

Can't recall what they were called but were long wax tubes filled with colored sugar water. Had to bite the end off to drink the liquid!

Manners, they were a good product of our youth, now they are non-existent.

I wasn't aware you could purchase those.  Kind of like class.  One either has it or they don't but, at least, manners can be learned.  I don't think they are non-existent, just less seen.  Online, though, they are less existent.

Funny you would mention manners.  The washer is broken so I had to go the the laundromat the other day.  I was finished and had two of those rolling carts outside on the sidewalk loading the car.  As I was heading out with them, a young boy of about 12 or 13 watched me kind of struggling with them and never offered to help or get the door.  I thought something along the lines of "Geesh, youngin's these days" and went on out.  Then, as I was needing to roll both empty carts back inside, a guy of about 18 or 20, I'd say, asked if I'd like him to help me.  He pushed one cart back in and held the door for me to get the other.  Super polite and helpful.  So, one "bad" experience and one good one.  Kind of balances out, I suppose.  For every person who isn't polite or helpful, I usually find at least one who is............luci

Actually, it was about a foot long.  It was like strands of caramel woven together in a braid-type shape and covered in chocolate.  Never a better candy bar made, in my opinion.  We loved them as kids.

Thank you.  I have to admit I never even thought of searching online.  I just haven't seen it in stores for so many years, it never occurred to me that it was still being made.  I order lots of books, music, t-shirts, etc. online but just never thought of checking for lotion.  I'll check it out.  Thanks alot...........luci

Michael,
I think that's what I meant above when I said "Google."  It was in a short, round jar with a pair of big eyes on the jar.  The only kind I ever had was the chocolate and peanut butter but I think we're talking about the same thing.  This would have been in the mid-to-late Seventies..........luci
