The continuum exists in thought... it just is... there is no other explanation for it. All of its member beings were instituted at the moment of its conception, and since that number is fixed and eternal, membership cannot be obtained. Membership status is made known to a being as the continuum believes that being has reached sufficient intellectual capacity to fathom the meaning of the continuum.
samba is a member of that continuum... always has been... always will be. Whether she chooses to accept her position is, of course, up to her, but her membership status is nonetheless granted. None of the members of the continuum ever had a say in being members, for their membership was granted long before they coalesced into the corporeal beings they were. Each member can, if they choose, return to a corporeal status, but the essence of that being can never die, nor can its membership in the continuum be revoked.
And, despite a member's unwillingness to participate in the affairs of the continuum, their actions as corporeal beings has been fortold long before they existed.
