I`ve said it before and I`ll say it again.A gun in your home is more likely to be used against a friend or family member(on purpose or by mistake),than on a perp.

Yup....add that in there with the guy who heard that most auto accidents happen within a few miles of home....so he moved.

LOL,bed_ump_bump <rimdshot sound>
That could be in a stand-up routine .Very funny, ghita.

OMG,could you imagine being "required" by law,to have a firearm in your home.

Now that`s nutty, and sounds like the heavy hand of government to me.

Just think about it.You buy a home, pay your taxes and obey the law.One day,the government forces you to keep a gun(insane,I know).Imagine that weapon being handled by your  8  year old, because the parent wasn`t careful,on any given day.
Boom! Your 4 year old, was just split in half,by the gun you were made to keep.Who`s liable if that happens, the town? The nuts who forced the parents to keep the weapon?

What`s the penalty for not complying?A ticket,a fine, jail time or community service?(give me a fucking break)

Its called take responsibility and teach your fucking kids.   With government in your bedroom hows that working btw?

my brothers GIRLS deer hunt using 30 cal at the grand old age of 11 years old,  there are guns setting all around the house and even the 5 year old is taught what they do and how to handle them but are not allowed to shoot them unattended until 11, (they have bb/pellet guns), and even the 11+ yo's only during target shooting or hunting till they are 18.

If all people want to do is sit on their ass and not teach their kids or themselves are to damn ignorant or have kids that are out of control then you will get this kind of talk.  try teaching instead of banning.  works 99% of the time.

Wanna bet the terrified ones out here if forced to keep a weapon would have the best educated kids on the planet as far as gun control?   <flips trigger finger>

Its one home that if you broke into any one of those kids could waste your ass, and they know the laws to btw on intruders etc.

teach the kids then buy them a bb gun and use it as a litmus test to see how well they handle a gun if they are idiots then you can always come up with a zillion excuses not to let them shoot until they are 18.

Owner 59 seems to think that the Constitution gives the right to "Bare arms"....it says Bear.  I assume that Owner 59 thinks the 2nd amendmant give peopel the right to wear short sleeve t shirts, exposing (bearing) thier arms.

What an interesting reading of the Constitution.  Owner59, what could you possibly think the 2nd amendmant means?  Other than the right of people to keep and bear weopons?

wow lg, you caught me w/ a mis-spelling.I need a moment to recover from that devastating body blow.<snickers>
Well ,you need a win now and then, right?

The documents said arms.It didn`t say firearms.

Types of arms:a pike,a sword,a club or mace,a knife,a sling shot(remember David & Goliath?),axe or tomahawk,etc.
All deadly weapons and guaranteed, under the constitution.

If the document said firearms, there would be no debate about right to own a gun.

So you are arguing that the second amendmant does not refer to Firearms, just the other kinds of arms?

You say the founders were very carefull in the language they used.  I agree...

Go look up the defintion of "arms" ...

Arms \Arms\, n. pl. [OE. armes, F. arme, pl. armes, fr. L. arma, pl., arms, orig. fittings, akin to armus shoulder, and E. arm. See Arm, n.]

1. Instruments or weapons of offense or defense.

or----arm 2
play_w("A0425900")

 (ärm)
n.
1. A weapon, especially a firearm: troops bearing arms; ICBMs, bombs, and other nuclear arms.2. A branch of a military force: infantry, armor, and other combat arms.3. arms
a. Warfare: a call to arms against the invaders.

Guns, and firearms (which are just a subcatagory of Arms) are absolutly covered by the term used by the founders---Arms.

If the Founders intended to seperate and not cover different catagories of Arms, they would have, but they didn't.  Remeber they were very carefull in thier choice of language.

Plus they historically did not ban the right to own guns, so it seems silly to conclude that is what they intended.

What exactly do you think the 2nd amendmant means?

It is not legally required to own a gun in Iraq, Owner59.  Why do you constantly use these fake examples, its bordering on lying to make your points.

If you want an example of a nation with mandatory legal gun ownership, look at Switzerland

You`re mixing my posts.I never said anything about a requirement to own a gun in Iraq.I mentioned the town in Georgia, that required every household to keep a gun.Clean it up ,lucky, and take a breath.

Nah... The Shining Example is the People's Republic of Vermont.

NO firearms regulation. Consistently among the lowest crime rates in the nation.

Believe it or not, minus the terrorists, Israel is one of the safest countries in the world crime-wise.
And they all carry guns.
I heard that in Australia crime skyrocketed after they confiscated handguns.
Who runs that country, the people or the govt?
Any Australians in here that could answer that?

i think a law should be passed that before you own a gun you need to go through a class a two week course. that way you know responsibility.. A lot of people are careless.. you should only have one gun loaded for home protection or for quick loading. the rest the shells and the guns should never be close to each other... when i had mine they where locked in a gun safe with gun locks on each ot her items i had.. only thing i had for home protection was my 44 dragoon i loved it was like a cannon going off ROFL only thing i have now is my colt peace maker.. it only takes one bullet to kill.. i have to laugh these people with a 9MM pistols they have two or three.. i just guess it comes down to common sense responsibility.. (If I can not drop you in one.. Then there is no point in having a gun

Latex, I'm a former Federal leo and I had to take an 8 hour course just like everyone else in this state (S. Carolina) to get a concealed weapons permit.
I don't think anyone would have a problem with fulfilling training requirements to carry weapons.
Granted some people who are not familiar with firearms would probably need more training.

Considering the magazines are in carriers and not in the rifles themselves, and they're slung pointed downwards, I'd suspect they've been trained properly.

That said, those a 3 girls who when they say "NO", can make it stick.
