I live in an old house, and the spiders have made a home in the basement. I'm not going to go up and try to pet one, but as long as they stay in the basement, I'm fine. If they come up into the house, they are fair game and usually meet my shoe. I don't go in their house, and they should stay out of mine. I feel the same way about bats. We live by a section of woods, and bats are pretty common around here. Saw one of those in the basement last night when I went down to get a faulty smoke alarm. I decided he found his way in, he'll find his way out. He can visit with the spiders as long as he wants. My basement attracts all kinds of critters, including groundhogs. I am starting to feel like Dr. Doolittle.
