Oh the funnel back was beautiful. Luckily there are very few extremely poisonous spiders around here.

Most insects, animals etc will leave you alone if you leave them alone.

There was a black widow living under the seat of the portapotty at the fire academy I attended... needless to say, I went in the woods... lol

Yet I have handled a black widow without being bitten. Just had to be very careful and not startle it into thinking I was a threat.

NO WAY!!!!!  I hate bugs of all kinds, with the exception of tarantulas.....go figure....but anything in my house with more than 4 legs gets stomped into a grease spot......unless my cats see it first, then it's simply an appetizer!  Snakes are cool....have had many for pets.....lizards are fun......still have yet to see the iguanas that people call the police about down here......like the cops are going to go get them...DUH!  I'm all for live and let live, as long as THEY are living outside......once inside, they are fair game!

<-----now has the heebie-jeebies!  Thanks alot!

I have this weird fascination with spiders. I'll inspect them really close, then get the skin crawlies, and leave the thing alone.

A bunch of years ago, I was a counselor at a camp near Omaha, out in the middle of BFE. It was really hot that summer, and the cabins didn't have air conditioning (we were roughing it), so me and my cabin girls put the matresses on the floor. Spent a week like that.

When I got home that Friday I noticed a lot of spider bites. I odn't mean a few. I mean A LOT. Everywhere. I've had my fair share of run ins with spiders. I can take 'em or leave 'em

~fast reply~

As a rule, spiders freak me out but we are on a strict capture and release program in this house, which includes spiders and wasps and their creepy scary lot.

Anyway, we used to have a writing spider (yah, that's the technical term for it) beside our front porch. She was lovely, for a spider. She was very long and spidery, deveral inches long and couple inches wide, very solid, and if you got near her, she would wave her abdomen up and down and make her web bob. She could also tap her abdomen on her web (it would make a definite tapping sound) to express her displeasure.

We had her for a couple years in a row and then she disappeared. As it turns out, the cats don't authorize my capture and release rule (unless they are releasing some injured animal or bird under my furniture). Lots of fun all the time.

And ironically enough, the Sci-Fi channel has been showing "Spiders" and "Spiders II"... two very VERY cheesy, made-for-TV movies.. LOL

ok.. I get the fact that spiders are our friends.. They eat bugs and everything..
I just cannot get past the physical revulsion I feel when I see them and seriously, I am NOT a sqeamish woman, but if I ever come across one of those big giant hairy spiders (not you Insty )  wtf am I supposed to do?  I will probably be more terrified than I have ever been before!

Spiders are caught and released in my house. My UM will come and get me if she sees one that its the type we put out to catch it then she carries the cups outside and lets it go. Very brave for being 8. Some we just let live in the house, depends on how much they creep me out.

As revulsed by them as You are, I am simply fascinated... and You're right... when it comes right down to it, they are gross little creatures, but in My eyes, they are beautiful...

It's kinda funny because I always joke that any man can be replaced with a monkey and a vibrator... but I know My "job" will always be safe since I *am* a Spider Relocation Specialist....  ;-)

i've got two of them spying on me. i figurere as long as they stay where i can see them, that's ok. if they get within arms reach, that's far too close and they're toast. preferabbly by vacuum cleaner so i don't have to get too close. and those are amongst the most HARMLESS here.... insty, ur so right. men are very good for spidey relocation. can i call u next time i see a huntsman?

Good morning...and i feel the same way, they are just beautiful and fascinating.

Lol, i also provide relocation services to moths, bats, praying mantis, caterpillars and bees.

We have a praying mantis on our porch who lives among the flower pots that i have taken out of the house soo many times that i have come to believe he thinks it is a game.

Last night Scooter went out to grill hamburgers and he found the little guy by the grill. So Scooter carefully picked him up and put him on a coleus. He no sooner turned around when the rascal jumped of the plant and walked his way back toward Scooter who picked him up again. Only this time the Mantis climbed up Scooter's arm aimed for his hair.

Scooter came in and declared, that bug of yours is really friendly. So i told him the mantis has a thing for hair. If you let him (which i do) he will sit on your shoulder and use his forelegs to groom your hair.
