Oh, a real beauty of a spider there. Jewel is terrified of spiders so as long as i catch them for relocation they are safe.

A long time ago i had a pet tarantula, i loved that spider. Her name was just Spid. She was orange and black, fuzzy and as far as i was concerned very friendly. She had a terrarium but as long as my bedroom door was shut i let her roam frequently. She liked to perch on your shoulder and grab at your hair.

Nice to met another spider lover. They take good care of all my roses and other plants in the yard.

I love tarantuals.. when I was in college, one of the local grocery stores called up the biology department as a tarantula had been shipped with a crate of bananas or something.. so My lab T/A went over, "rescued" the mostrously huge thing and brought it back to the bio department... what an incredible spieces.. it was a generic brown and black one, but super-friendly.

I would have one (or a dozen) here, but b would never come into the house.. that and the house gets too cold in the winter time, they'd probably die off.. so I'll have to live vicariously through others.. :-)

There's no reason to NOT lvoe spiders... they eat bugs.  I dislike bugs.  :-)

Exactly! They eat a lot of bad bugs, critters that bite me or destroy my flowers and veggies.

Lol, maybe someday b will get over it. I am not allowed to have a pet spider here either, sighs.....

I keep trying to talk them into a snake but Scooter does not like them. He gets upset if bats get into the house too but i just coax them into my room and then open the French doors so they get out safely.

So far they have agreed to a pet bird, i like birds but they just are not cuddly like a cat or a snake, nor as entertaining as a spider.

I've suggested a small Chinese girl as an alternative but so far that is a no too.

I'd be happy with O/our own personal geisha.. lol

Yup.. spiders are out, I think snakes are out.. though I would also love to have a lizard of some sort.. My sibling's UMs have geckos that are attempting to procreate, so W/we've already clear a place for a terrarium.. :-)

I should go around and take pictures of all O/our spiders... W/we have so many living under the eaves and in the barn. :-)

I live in an old house, and the spiders have made a home in the basement. I'm not going to go up and try to pet one, but as long as they stay in the basement, I'm fine. If they come up into the house, they are fair game and usually meet my shoe. I don't go in their house, and they should stay out of mine.

I feel the same way about bats. We live by a section of woods, and bats are pretty common around here. Saw one of those in the basement last night when I went down to get a faulty smoke alarm. I decided he found his way in, he'll find his way out. He can visit with the spiders as long as he wants. My basement attracts all kinds of critters, including groundhogs. I am starting to feel like Dr. Doolittle.

Gotta love these eight legged critters, and they are so much fun to handle and watch. Always been a fan of spiders and always will be!
Damn I miss not having a pet tarantula

What beautiful creatures... I'm not envious of the number of poisonous ones you have in Oz (I was a little apranoid when I lived in the south.. lol).. but I'll take the smaller and non-lethal spiders here in Maine. :-)

Poor K...getting this wicked idea of sending her a box full of plastic spiders   <weg>

instyntive> only poisonous spider up my way is the black widow. So unless one is allegic to bess stings then you really don't need to worry about the black widow. People sensitive to bee venom will have a bad reaction to the black widow.

Yeah...  I think the spiders and bugs grow  REALLLY  REALLLLLLY  BIG  here in the south....

that's probably why you see so many trucks w/ guns in the gun racks in the windows, hehe

cuz here in FL, the deer are so tiny that some dogs are bigger than the deer, lol.
