In high school, reading Sigmund Freud and my best friend telling me about the story of O in the mid-60's.

My parents. Im third generation BDSMer and Gorean.

First, welcome back.

Second, when you say "third generation BDSMer and Gorean" I assume you mean "third generation BDSMer", as Tarnsman wasn't published till December '66 (happen to have a copy of that first printing here at my desk).

Not arguing with the Gorean designation, just making sure I understood you correctly.

I'm interested in hearing more about the multi-generational BDSM lifestyle, mods and you willing.

I think i was always destined to be in the world of bdsm.
My first yummy thoughts on bdsm though were inspired by a film called waxworks in the 80's, which showed the Marquis de Sade frenziedly whipping a chained up maiden.

I also absolutely loved "I Dream of Jeannie". It was only in reruns by the time i got to watch it, but i really wanted to be Jeannie! i watched it every day.

i seemed to attract men who liked to abuse me for a very long time and i always wondered why. It finally hit me as i got a bit older that i wanted to submit to them and they had no concept of or ability to be a good Dom.

i met my Dom 11 years ago and we got married. It was a vanilla relationship for the most part, except we really tended toward D/s without truly realizing it. Just a few months ago we started talking openly about BDSM and it was a huge relief for both of us. We had each had D/s leanings, but felt like there must be something wrong and they needed to be suppressed. It seems to flow really well for us now.

Oh, I read Story of O at some point, too, which was when i started to realize that i wasn't the only one with submissive tendencies

"I Dream of Jeannie" may have played a part, I certainly like the sound of "Master." Then I grew up with all those World War II interogation stores about the enemy and the woman they captured. Then in high school the Gor books came out and by number four, I wasn't reading them for the sc-fi adventure anymore. In college it was the story of O and games with a girl friend. I was in my 40s before I found the lifestyle community. Then I discovered my first true submissive. The world became a better place.

As a kid growing up in the 50s what little tv i was allowed to watch centered on the family -- Father knows best, Leave it to Beaver, etc. -- but NOT the ones where my dad thought the husband/father ended up looking "dumb" -- I Love Lucy was only allowed when he wasn't home..lol.  As i grew older i knew what i wanted in a relationship, but honestly didn't have the experience or the vocabulary (like bdsm, submissive, dominant, etc) to put it into words.  I was married in the 70s and by then (thanks to the women's liberation movement) the "sensitive" man (ala Alan Alda) wwas in vogue and certainly what my husband tried to be.  We had a very, very vanilla marriage, and i probably would have gone to my grave happy with that particular status quo, when suddenly one day, on the internet, i discovered a world i literally never knew existed (i was just a bit sheltered..lol).  The more i read, the more i saw, the more people i talked with others on IRC and those i was lucky enough to meet at munches, the more i realized not only what was missing, but what i needed in a relationship.

...and, as "they" say..the rest is history..<giggles>

cheers
jimini

A spanking...when his hand got tired he grabbed a plastic hairbrush, eventually the handle broke from the force exerted, but I got my first taste of subspace and was hooked.

I knew about BDSM for a while but I thought that it was only about pain and tying people up. I always thought that the Dominatrix look was hot. I thought that pain sucked so I never even tried it.

Almost 2 years ago my Wife and I desided to open our marriage. I was with a potintial "friend" when she wanted to know if I wanted to go to a "Fetish club" I was trying to get laid so I said what the hell. Best desision I made since we desided to have Phin Jr.

Well, I'd always had the thoughts, and daydreams about being someone's slave. (I also had a long history of night time dreams about being a slave in Herculaneum, Pompeii's sister city.) But the real turning point was in January of '76... I found my Dad's Playboy from the previous month, which had that pictoral on Jacklin's movie version of "O." Every circuit in my head blew out... and I suddenly had a name for what I was feeling. For the longest time, I still wasn't sure though... from the pictures, I thought that the only "normal" way to be into SM was Male Dom, and female submissive. But that didn't really feel "right" to me. It took another year before I found evidence that there were, like me, male subs out there. (Thanks to one of my older brother's skin mags.)

Yes, I remember I Dream of Jeannie very well.

I used to love when they showed the inside of her bottle, all soft and pink and pretty...kind of like a womb.

I wouldn't mind be trapped in there for a while as long as I had books and chocolate.

Mmm... now THERE is a yummy fantasy!

Dreggas -> RE: What inspired you to enter the world of BDSM? (8/29/2007 8:12:54 PM)

I would have to say, at the risk of sounding cliche, what got me into the lifestyle was a belief in chivalry and a general belief that women should be put on a pedestal and treated like queens. Granted I am not perfect, no one is, but I try to be. As far as kink. Honestly vanilla sex was boring as hell when I hit 18 (lost virginity at 14) and I had always had a few fetishes that the lifestyle let me explore.

This is a question I ask all who apply to me.

Over the years, whenever I was dating, I've heard a lot of different and interesting stories.

Here's mine:

When I was young, there was a TV program called "I Dream of Jeannie" starring Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman.

Hagman was an astronaut: Major Nelson.

Eden was a Genie.

Jeannie kept insisting that she was Nelson's property, that he was her "master". That she lived to serve him and grant him whatever he wished.

For some reason known only to the vanilla world, Nelson hated the idea and wanted Jeannie to assert herself and be, in essence, a 'liberated' woman (that is to say, as liberated as audiences and TV censors of the '60s would permit).

While the storyline unfolded such that Jeannie ended up more assertive and married Nelson in the end, most of the series was about how much she wanted to help her Master, and how sad she was whenever he wouldn't permit it.

At the time I was too young to know anything about BDSM. But as I look back, I can see that would have been the first time I was exposed to a Master/slave relationship that did not seem inherently evil (for before that, the only knowledge I'd have had of slavery was from American history).

But I can see from the patterns in my life that, in a sense, I am seeking my own Jeannie: eager, willing, playful, happy, loyal, loving, obedient, ever-present, and able to work her own kind of magic.

So I attribute my interest in BDSM to "I Dream of Jeannie". Thank you Sidney Sheldon and Barbara Eden.

My recollection is, that Jeannie [being essentially all-powerful more or less] 'chose' to adore Nelson
Granted, the 'excuse' being, that he freed her from her centuries-long imprisionment in that cutesy bottle.

That alone is rather a 'hot' fantasy =) [not the centuries-long embottlement part]

She also often [if not in EVERY episode] managed to find some loophole to defy his 'mundane' restrictions

wow just about everyone has good stories how they came into the lifestyle. sooo i dont mean to be a buzzkill here.
i was raped for about 4 years when i was a child. when i hit my teenage years i got tired of being scared of every guy that came near me soooooo i set out to see how not to be a victim. kind of hard in vanilla land when the thought of being "in charge" is like a bucket of ice water on you! introducing bdsm, with a neighbor across the way and clothes pins for nipples:) and just kept going from there. [:D]

Outside of having many many fantasies of being captured and bound when younger, I discovered the pleasure of having very kinky sex with dominant men in hotel rooms when I didn't even know more than their first names.  That still is and always will be a huge turn on for me.  Some moments of my life I acknowledge that and some moments I don't.

i think i must have watched that scene about a million times. When she was about to be "rescued" and she clung to the Marquis' leg? i thought, that's exactly what i would do.

As a matter of fact, it still is what i want to do, smiles.
