psynymph -> The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:11:52 PM)

Age in NO way garauntees knowledge, experience, or status.

i am rather sick of people, especially in this lifestyle but the gods know it can certainly be pertained to the wonderful vanilla world, telling me i am wrong simply because i am young.

just because you didn't learn something until you were in your 40's does not, in anyway, mean that i can't learn it in my 20's.

everyone's life experiences are different, VERY different. to pull the age card is to make a grievious assumption.... and well.... what is it that mommy always said about assuming?

one cannot know everything. that would mean achieving perfection, nirvana, and as far as i know the only person to do that is well... Buddha... if you believe in that sort of thing, that is.

i am very aware that because of my limited time on earth that i have probably experienced much less than those that have been here twice as long, but i also know, for a fact, that i have experienced ALOT more than some people twice my age.

age is just simply a number. at best, it is a very lose guideline. but it does not factually speak of experience or knowledge.

as far as i am concerned, those that pull the age card suddenly then become beneath my own maturity level.  because i know... age is just a number. and i know to not make assumptions.

i'm rather fond of not looking like a ass...... i mean... i like looking at asses, the wonderful curves behind a woman  *smirks* but i dont necessarily want to appear to be one.

Erm so yes.... thoughts on the shit i ramble about?

*roflmao*

SubJordanTyler -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:15:34 PM)

I don't know what else I could add to that because I agree with it 100%.............so I thought I would just say that!!

Celeste43 -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:21:16 PM)

What do you mean by "playing the age card". Because people are free to reject you for any reason or none at all, whether it be height, age, race, religion or kink. Or simply the fact that you enjoy golf and they don't (personal turn off here).

You're 21. I have a daughter nearly your age. There is no way I could ever see you as anything but a child, simply because I'm 30some years older than you. Yes you have the right to drink, drive, vote, enter the military but I'm not going to ever want a relationship with you simply because there are too many commonalities missing.

It's important to me that my peers also remember the wonder of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon, the intense despair of the nation when Jack Kennedy was killed, the shock at seeing war up front during Vietnam also called the living room war because of the nightly news with very limited restrictions placed on the media. These are some of the things that have shaped me and I need my friends to also have been shaped by them. It's important to me.

Equally important is that we listen to the same music and I'm sure you and I don't. That we've both raised offspring to young adulthood. Hell. I'm picky. I wouldn't be with a vegetarian, or as I said, a golfer. Or a Republican for that matter. Or a 21 year old. And that's my right to prefer people with different experiences and different values.

rmanrr -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:23:32 PM)

Greetings
The impertinence of people whatever their age never ceases to astound Me. You, Me, all of us continue to learn and grow...is that not what is important? Well that and having fun in life of course aside from the 4 letter word of work.

MadRabbit -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:24:37 PM)

Aww...Celeste...your breaking my heart. [:(]

Do you consider me to be a child?

bandit25 -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:25:02 PM)

What Celeste said.  You may have experienced tons of shit at your age...maybe even more than I have, but I've done more living than you...by virtue of years alone.  I do know what you mean, tho.  I am sure the age cards sucks, but it's a fact of life.

psynymph -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:27:28 PM)

Celeste....

Great point! Yay for the freedom to reject people for whatever reason i can pull out my ass!!

Um as far as the commonalities.... understandable. i understand what you are saying but let me further clarify what my point is.

Now granted, this is my personal opinion, but i do not think you have any right to assume you know more than me simply because you are older. i also do not think you have the right to see my opinion as less than yours, simply because i am younger than you.

All i am asking, is to be treated with the same basic respect as all human beings. i mean... i dont think that's too awful of me to ask.....

Lol but i am in no way telling you to like me.... because "frankly my dear, i dont give a damn!"

psynymph -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:31:04 PM)

Experience? Living?

what exactly would be the difference? i mean.... simply breathing verses i dont know, learning another language can hardly constitute much of a comparasion. simply living is hardly in competetion with actually DOING something......

Oi and i reserve the right to bitch against the facts of life!!!

lol

divi -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:32:48 PM)

If you didn't care then why make a thread about a age card ???

angelic -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:36:15 PM)

Ok i am not going to be quite as nice as everyone else.  (It's ok, i am currently wearing my shit retardant suit).  But quite frankly, i am tired of the age card also...i.e.  20 somethings whining and complaining how they know so much more than i.  Well, bullshit... i have been on this earth 30 years longer than you and have experienced more life.  i personally cannot wait for those 20 somethings that gripe or get on soapboxes about how they are better or just as knowledgeable about life as i am... get to my age and watch 20 somethings whining and.... well... you get the picture.  Sorry, but i do not give a rats ass if you have an iq of 180.  i have lived longer than you... i have made the mistakes you have yet to make and have learned from them.  Tired of the age card being played?  Act like you don't know everything there is know about life.

psynymph -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:38:18 PM)

erm at which point did i say i didn't care?

i have stated that i dont care if people particularly like me..... i do care to spread the idea of being open-minded and accepting of all opinions.

i debate... i do not argue. i do not bash other's opinions, i merely voice my own and discuss.

psynymph -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:41:49 PM)

hey i never claimed to know anything. lol.... i never said i knew more than somebody else.

again let me repeat.... i am merely asking for the same respect. i respect you, your opinons. i hear you out and do not close my mind to you simply based off a shallow assumption like age, race, religion so on.... i ask for the same in return.

i am in no way bitching. geez people lighten up.

Protest all you want but the fact remains, you do not have the life experiences of the 20's, 30's and 40's. You're just starting your 20's.

It doesn't make you less or a bad person but recognize that there are those that choose not to have a relationship with someone close to the age of our offspring.
Or because the age difference to just too much.

I'm with Celeste for all the reasons she stated. I'd like to find a life partner and someone 20 or 30 years my junior is just not going to cut it, no matter how much they know.

So I would be one that turns down submissives because of their age.

No apologies.

MC

babygirl005 -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:42:16 PM)

The wonderful thing about being human, is we are free to develop opinions that are our own.  Those opinons are free to change.  And one thing that will change your opinions will be the passing of time.  I can look back and see how time has changed a lot of things in my life and so it will with you.

Just as you want "older people" to respect your opinion, you need to respect our opinons and realize that is just what they are, opinions.  It takes too much energy to get all upset about someone elses way of thinking.  Just enjoy people for who they are and try to enjoy the passing of time in your life.  Hopefully, you will end up laughing at yourself often as your opinions change.

ExSteelAgain -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:44:25 PM)

I might have believed some of this until I started reading Lucky Albatross. She is in her 20's and offers wise advice in many things.

psynymph -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:46:08 PM)

*sigh* i'm not seeing where i have been disrespectful to anyone in the slightest....

and again.... i am not asking someone to like me. i understand the idea of a 40yro not desiring a relationship with someone in their 20s. i understand that completely.

i agreed with Celeste about that as well.

also... i'm not upset. i was merely irritated. seems to me everyone else is taking this thread a bit too seriously.

bandit25 -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:46:39 PM)

I agree, she does and yes she is young.  But a lot of what LA offers is common sense.  And I don't think common sense has age limitations.  You either have it or you don't.

catize -> RE: The Ever Tiresome Age Card (9/5/2007 4:48:30 PM)

I suggest that you print out your OP and save it somewhere.  On your 40th birthday, pull it out and read it.  My guess is you will laugh a bit and cringe a bit and smile a lot at all you have learned in the interim.
I would wish for you that all the coming years are amazing and glorious.
