Today is for remembering our lost.

We have over 500 more days to point out what a failure bush has been.

Well, same response to you, then, I suppose.  In his shoes, what would you have done?

1)  Not invaded Iraq.

2)  Not saddled a bunch of toothless poor people with 485 million dollars in debt after their lives were flushed
by a hurricane named Katrina.

3)  Gone in to Afghanistan, used the information culled from Al Qaeda computers to allow the law enforcement arms of our country to silence Al Qaeda (wait, they did do that).

3a)  Not continued to try to frighten the American people with the Al Qaeda boogy man I knew was silenced.

4)  Done my best to maintain the US position as a benevolent superpower by treating other countries as equals.

5)  Not borrowed trillions of dollars from countries like China to support my disasterous policies.

Need me to go on?  Or are we good for the moment.

While this is an interesting enough list, the context of "[in] his shoes, what would you have done differently?" was referring to Bush's alleged responsiblity for 9/11.

Edit:  Used the Italics tag inadvertantly.

While this is an interesting enough list, the context of "n his shoes, what would you have done differently?" was referring to Bush's alleged negligance contributing to 9/11.

For those playing the home game, almost all of the examples I gave were rationalized by Bush as being necessary because of 9/11.

CuriousLord, feel free to play again.

Sinergy

Edited to ask CuriousLord if it is his contention that Bush may have lied to us about his responses to 9/11?

Sinergysdarlin -> RE: 9/11 non-sympathisers (9/11/2007 11:01:37 PM)

sounds like simianboy and his cronies have done all the best for god, country, and the world...any other choices? maybe he will change the laws and run again? it's been soooo successful so far, how about 4 or 12 more years of this?

I still don't see how these contribute to 9/11 happening..

oh, and bush is totally innocent of any alleged responsibility for anything having to do with 9/11 and its repercussion, yes?

While I realize you're probably just trying to help your mate in his.. well, I suppose his ego.. Bush and his career aren't the subject, outside of the parts related to the cause of 9/11..

Please, not another "I hate Bush" thread.

Ah.. so.. um.. how does this answer the question?  Not that I won't answer this one, but I'm tired of people trying to change the subject to get out of a question.

Fair enough.

I dont either, yet Anencephalyboy has wasted a vast amount of time and effort to convince us that they had everything to do with it.

So, to answer your question:

Clinton, on his "Im leaving the White House now" briefing to Bush, made a large number of recommendations about Al Qaeda and how to deal with them.  The Bush administration ignored all of these and did nothing until
a couple of buildings spread asbestos waste all over New York, and insurance paid one of Bush's friends for two buildings he could not rent out or pay to have torn down.

Sinergy

p.s.  Sinergysdarlin has a mind of her own, it is a rather boorish tactic to try to minimize what she has to say as "rushing to my defense."  If you cannot play in the big pool, perhaps you should stay in the kiddie pool where you will feel safe in sharing your opinions.

Alright, excuse me if I mistakenly assumed a connection when you and your mate both happened to start responding to me at the same time.  I'll take your word for it at the two are unrelated events.

What part made it seem like I was upset about it? And.. didn't I respond to you, and only you, directly about it?

Erm.. please excuse me if thinking your mate joining the debate at the same time on the same thread may've been more than a coincidence.  I can assure you, no offense was intended.

I'll do my best to.. erm, withstand the 'big pool'.

Keep the Taliban pinned in the Afghan hills and cut off from Pakistan. Turn Afghanistan into a Democratic Wonderland with satellite internet and TV in every school, village and home. Pay farmers to grow food, workers to build roads, schools, hospitals etc etc... Bomb with chocolate.

Continued to squeeze Saddam until he bolts or until the people of Iraq string him up from a lamp post. Let them sort out their internal differences.

Ease back US foreign policy so that it is merely annoying rather than insufferable.

Heed the constitution.

People dying at the hands of a madman is a tragedy. People dying at the hands of elected officials exceeding their authority is a crime.

I've included the backquote, which is somewhat excessive in length, to just ask this.  Why did you include the full backquote of the post you were responding to, then quote a single sentence of it to respond to?

Please, spare me the ego drive.  If you'd like a discussion, then, please, you're invited.  If not, you're free to block and/or ignore me, as you see fit.

CuriousLord -> RE: 9/11 non-sympathisers (9/11/2007 11:25:18 PM)

In order stay on topic (and avoid another "I hate Bush" rant of a thread), the "In his shoes, what would you have done?", in context, referred to what one might have done to prevent 9/11, in Bush's shoes.
