Being Gorean, if Master were to cut my hair off it would be the most horrible, humiliating thing I could imagine. It would mean that I had did something so bad that he found me unworthy as a slave. I can't think of any punishment that would be worse than that.

I dunno about that. I don't think I could do the look, but I've seen some cute girls with shaved heads. But I am partial to the punk look.

Before someone jumps on me about my comment about short hair being unfeminine...(that was not a diss to women who actually have short hair)

It would not be humiliating in the least to have my hair cut short. It would notify me that it would be done out of sheer spite, distaste and DISHONOR for my femininity in general. I would judge 'what kind of man would want his woman to have short hair?', I would see him as having anger issues that are beyond even his own control and kick him to the curb.

My Master tells me that if I were ever to dye or do anything to my hair he didn't approve of or like, He'd cut it all off. This is a huge punshment as it takes FOREVER to grow m hair out. I really ant to dread my hair ut he'd just cut t all off so I don't. I think haircutting's a very serious punishment for somethng. I think I'd cry if he eer shavd my head! Although I have heard of slaves who shave it off when they get a new master...

I've seen women with long hair who look awful. They think it makes them look feminine and they just look mousey or it gets greasy and smells nasty. IMHO, they'd be better off if someone made them cut it. Maybe not a fetish activity but I could definately see an owner ordering a slave to change their hair if they thought it would look better the other way.

I agree. I have seen some women who look downright silly with their long hair. My ex-wife is one of those who thinks it makes her look younger...I've got news for her...it doesn't.
And before anyone thinks I relate age to it...I don't. I've seen younger women that I thought looked bad with long hair and I've seen younger women with short hair who would have looked better with it longer. I've also seen the same in older women. What does this all mean? That it comes down to personal tastes and the variety among individual people.

I will say one thing...I've seen very few older men that I thought long hair looked good on. Of course...

...that may be because of my own follicularly-challenged state.

As punishement...no. This is one of those punishments that could not only have long-term consequences emotionally but is also long-term in that it takes time to grow hair back. 4 weeks from now she might be doing everything right...and still having to look in the mirror at the length of her hair.

Again, we are assuming that a knows how to crop and take care of her hair and it is feminine and clean. If a gal needs a makeover, that is her problem (and her dom would say so, I hope). To strip me of that (my hair) would be 'masculating' me. That was my point.

Some women just don't look good with long hair no matter how much they take care of it. It just doesn't look right.

I wasn't making a point about how it would affect you. You just asked the question in your comment "What kind of man would want a woman with short hair", and I gave an answer. I have no doubt that you would view it masculating to you.

That or they are scared. I'm perfectly willing to admit that a huge amount of my identity is tied up in me having my long hair. Luckily, no one has hinted that I need to go get my hair sheared yet - and Valyraen would tell me. In no uncertain terms!

I keep my hair relatively short because my migraines are such that when my hair is long and heavy it hurts me. (I have really thick hair) and it bugs me beyond belief when my hair is in my eyes. I simply haven't time to screw around with it in my way when I am working or playing.

I can't say I've ever heard anyone tell me that I'm less attractive with short hair vs. longer. While my husband loves my hair as long as I can let it go, he still believes me to be sexy and beautiful when it's only an inch long.

As to the OP....I'd never take someone's hair from him as punishment...though I don't punish. Silliness in my mind.

It wouldn't bother me, having my hair cut on the whim of my dom. Bald no, my head is wonky looking. Cut tho, sure! It grows back.

My dom doesn't have a big preference when it comes to the length of my hair.

However.. I wish I hadn't gotten it cut! My bangs annoy me by getting in my eyes, I can't pile it on top of my head anymore much less go 2 days without washing it!
I was given an article that apparently exposed locksforlove, they throw the hair away. Thats where I sent mine

. Sigh.

I miss my long long hair & now I'm waiting to grow it back.

Hair is a symbol. I can't count the number of discussions I've had about how to deal with hair in the scene- usually removing everything below the neck and growing out everything above it.

In the het scene as well, femininity is associated with long flowing hair. The het scene often exagerrates typical feminine physical traits- corsets for the waist, high heels, etc.

To remove that symbol can be extremely powerful exactly as denying and controlling orgasm is for so many. In some ways it is even more so because you can be forced to show it in vanilla public and know that it is exposed to everyone that you are stripped of some part of you which you may have deeply associated with your femininity, with your self-identity.

A lot of slaves feel sacrifice is an important part of their submission.

I used to have a huge thing about my hair (which can be read here: ) but these days, I just like it to look pretty and be easily maintained- both above and below the neck. So I rarely shave anywhere, and get a nice thorough cut once or twice a year. Since I no longer have serious emotional attachments to my hair, I'm fine with cutting it off.

On the other hand, I would find it very difficult if I were told I couldn't wash my hair, brush my hair, or cut the ends off regularly to keep it looking nice. Since I don't consider bald to be ugly, I would still maintain my sense of self if I were shaved.

But since I do consider "unkempt" to be ugly, it would be much harder to be forced into public looking that way.

And, like any symbol, you can make it into what you want. For some it's a trial to go through together as a bonding experience.

i've cut all my hair off a few times in my life (the typical girl thing of using cutting your hair to retake the control you feel you've lost in your life thing...but i digress) and now it's the longest it's ever been. He loves my hair, and i'm not allowed to even trim it without permission. So i don't really see him cutting it off as a punishment anytime in the near future, it'd be a punishment for him too lol. That being said, if he DID cut it off, i would be devistated. i admit that my hair is one of the few things that i'm truly vain about. Shaving it all off...hard limit right there. Nothin sexy about a chubby bald white chick, IMO.

On the flip side, i'd be devistated if he cut his own hair off either lol. Just can't help it, LOVE a man with long hair (as long as it's clean, and not all scraggly of course)

okay, as a sub, this does not turn me on at all. And whomever said punishment should turn a sub on is wrong. Punishment is just that. It is to learn a lesson.

When I'm being punished, whether through corporal punishment or something else, I definitely am NOT turned on.
