Serves him right. If everybody at a political meeting behaved like he did there would only be one result: chaos.

Seems to me he was just behaving like an over indulged adolescent and generally showing off. !

I agree.  He says he wanted to ask too more questions.  Going by the  youth of our county's mindset, one was probably "do you wear boxers or briefs".  He did reek of "attention whore"

Yeah the UCLA case is going to court this November. That whole incident was started because a student there refused to show his ID to campus police so they tased him up to 6 times. There is also allegations of racial profiling in that case since witnesses say the student was exiting the library peacefully and the police practically never ask to see ID. The student is an Iranian immigrant.

Remember also that these are basically the equivalent of rent-a-cops. Campus police have very little training in law enforcement. The majority of their duties is driving around the school parking lot handing out parking citations. And suddenly they get these tasers and Im not even sure if you have to be certified to use them. I know if you work in security, you have to have a license and regularly take training courses in order to carry a gun on the job. But I dont think you need that for tasers. So schools and such end up buying these as a cheap alternative. So there may be a strong tendancy for abuse of power if the people using these tasers are not properly trained law enforcement officers.

Here`s another abuse of the taser by police.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyvrqcxNIFs

Watch this to the end,...if you can.It reminds me about our new US policy ,regarding torture.Listen to the one goon, who keeps say,"stand up,or I`ll taser you,....again".At one point, the guy is unable to stand, lol,to he gets the taser again and again.

I just wonder why the video does not show the start of the incident ?
If law enforcement officers make legitimate requests they should be obeyed IMO regardless of the tone in which that request is made.
Many see politeness as weakness and get "bolshie" in which case they deserve all they get.
If in your job you were experiencing foul mouthed abuse or posturing truculence  on a regular basis wouldn't you get tired of it ?
These videos do NOT show Fascism.

However had I have been on the Rodney King jury I would have done my best to get the police officers convicted.

I was appalled when I saw that video. It was the kind of thing you expect to happen in Bush's frequent staged taxpayer-funded but Bush-supporter-only appearances, or in one of the totalitarian states that he modelled his presidency on.

I voted for Kerry (and admired his thoughtful response to the incident), but no one should be treated that way for the level of infraction the kid committed. He cut in line and was getting out of hand (bad, sure), but Kerry wanted to respond to his questions when the stormtroopers took it upon themselves to intervene. At that point he resisted arrest. But I'm sorry, if five or six officers cannot subdue an unarmed clearly out-of-shape college kid, they need to be sent back to their basic training course. That's after the hearing to see if they should retain their badges. I guess now we know how African-American kids who walk into the wrong department store feel.

The fact that I think the kid was playing up the melodrama to the max makes me roll my eyes, but his civil rights were clearly violated.

Maybe Kerry should of thought of that before he went to one and tried to supress someone's right to free speech.

Open mouth, insert foot. Here is Kerry's response. I think you're getting him mixed up with the Misleader. People are routinely dragged out of Mr. Bush's taxpayer-funded appearances for having the wrong t-shirt on, or bumper sticker on their car (I'm serious).

"In 37 years of public appearances, through wars, protests and highly emotional events, I have never had a dialogue end this way. I believe I could have handled the situation without interruption, but I do not know what warnings or other exchanges transpired between the young man and the police prior to his barging to the front of the line and their intervention. I asked the police to allow me to answer the question and was in the process of responding when he was taken into custody. I was not aware that a taser was used until after I left the building. I hope that neither the student nor any of the police were injured. I regret enormously that a good healthy discussion was interrupted."

Not only that Kerry can be clearly heard asking the nitwit to ask a question so that it may be answered...the nitwit responds along the lines of  "you , Kerry, spoke for two hours its MY turn now".

Throw the bum out.lol

The president of the University said he withholding judgement until an investigation is complete. Two officers have been placed on administrative leave, and students today lead a protest outside the campus police HQ chanting, "No justice, no peace, no tasers for police!"

If they are campus police they probably have the same training and authority as any other sworn LEO.
The functions of security and parking tickets are often performed by other  non-LEO employees.
And most states require a basic amount of training for Taser or other  weapons to be carried by police or security.

Yeah, you could hear Kerry saying he wanted to answer.  Kerry did not kick the man out, nor supress him.  Kerry wanted to answer the question.  I think this episode shows his leadership skills, and to the fact that Kerry can't lead a room full of people, in a question /answer discussion.  Kerry was unable to get the cops to do what he wanted.  Everyone ignored and disrespected him.  He came off looking like a fool.  The idea that he could run the nation is/was ridiculous.

I know the training that officers are given when they get it for the use of the Taser, and as part of it, each one of them get hit with it to feel what happens when they pull the trigger.  Campus police officers are sworn law enforcement officers, as mentioned, campuses also employ security personnel for lesser, non-law enforcement duties.

That said, after having seen the video, I think the 6 officers that had control of the kid...and yes, since they were actually getting him out of there, they HAD control of him, used poor judgement in tasing the kid.  Yes, he was obnoxious, yes he was an ass, yes, he thought he was going to make some sort of point, but they had him off his feet, and they were carrying him out...why they stopped and decided to taze him is anybody's guess.  Personally, having worked as a cop long before the tasers were out there, tasers are more of a liability to officers/departments than nightsticks and flashlights ever were.  Instead of learning the proper way to restrain and subdue someone without lethal force, everyone seems to want to resort to tasers.  One officer with the proper knowledge of a wrist take down could have goose-stepped the little jackass out of there with very little problem.....I once moved a 250 lb drunk from the bar fight out to the truck while my partner was still inside in the fight.  I'm 5'4, he had to be about 6'4, and didn't have a bit of trouble.  (And no, my partner wasn't alone in the fight.....there just happened to be about 15 other MP's inside with him!)

Not to derail the perfectly good derail about how this tasering was all Bush's fault , but the increased reliance on 'magic wands', like OC and Tasers, is a result of politician's implementing policies that take away control options from those who are sent out to put their hands on people.

He started out asking legitimate questions then he just became a smart ass. It went  down hill from there. Obviously he was from the Young Republicans club.

Nurse!!!   ...omg that was funny!  And prolly right on the money, too!  The kid WAS a smart ass.  Hell, the 'camera man' was giggling before he even got going.  I'm sure the whole thing was a prank that the kid enjoyed for the attention he received...taser or no.

I'm listening to The Howie Carr Show right now (WRKO-680 AM) and he keeps playing that sound bite.
"Hey don't tazer me Bro!"
"BZZZZZT"
"OWWWW! OWWWWW! OWWWW! OWWWWW!
LOL, it's hilarious.
Howie said, "well, he wanted a little "street theater" and he got it!"

Boy, I thought Democrats believed in free speech.
You go to a Kerry speech and they tazer you!
Kerry; "I was "for" the Tazing before I was "against" it."
Said Ted Kenney; "I ah, ah, wonder if, ah, ah, you can use a tazer to freshen up a drink?"
I guess that the Democrats don't like Moonbats either.
Owner, keep quiet if you go to any Democratic functions.
Did I spell "Moonbat" correctly?
