Very true kitten...I have a very good friend who can not spell worth a damn. Like even 'basic' words...I'm not sure if he has mild dyslexia but I've gotten emails from him about 'peple' we 'no' who he 'planes' to 'meat' up with. Now considering I knew him for years before I even got my first email from him, that definitely surprised me - he's one of the most intelligent people I know. He's a computer programmer who is the only person I know who could explain physics to me without having me stare blankly back. Which is definitely why I put more value on the content...if half the words are misspelled but he wrote me this brilliant letter about his views of D/s, or God, or whatever...then yes I will take the time to figure out the misspelled words. But I'll switch to phone as soon as possible ;) And yes guys, we are comparing your emails ;) Muahahahahahaha maybe now one of you will bother to read my whole profile and answer where it says 'whats your favorite color' - although I've started to just reply to emals with "so what is your favorite color" because I either get "oops I forgot to put that in the first email" or "um blue why do you ask?" and that pretty much speaks for itself [;)]

I am dyslexic. Sometimes letters flow from my hands upsidedown or backwards. To compensate for my deficiency, I learned to speed read which gives me the time I need to write, and correct my text in a faster time than most people can work, who are normal. I do understand misspelling. My son was cursed with his own learning deficiency and spelling is still a challenge for him. I am not sure that I could consider most of us as grammarphiles, or spelling nazis. I DO think that for many of us reading emails using the net shortcuts like UR, RU, gurl, instead of girl, find it laziness. And really.. who wants a lazy dominant or submissive? Spelling is a skill. Shortcuts are shortcuts. People use them because its easier than spending time. Kyst

So much to learn from them, then you get something they’ve written and it kind of makes you look up at them and say, “Huh?” Their spelling is so different from their obvious knowledge. I think there are a lot of very good doctors that have horrible writing. Maybe a lot of it is to cover up spelling and grammar issues? I sure could apply that to a few, yet they’re very meticulous where it counts. I’m constantly looking up punctuation. I don’t know why, it never seems to stick LOL There are times that I use kinda, coulda, woulda and them thar kinda words. It's usually when I’m kidding around, or making light of a situation. Maybe I watched the Beverly Hillbillies too much, when I was younger. I also don’t say, “Pull up to the house with the burnt sienna shingles and you’re there.” I think too many people might look for the house that had barely survived a fire. For me, I think it depends on how they’ve presented themselves. Sentences like, “UR2 swet”, or “1x at band camp, I seen thes gurl wif the hu monguz bobz re yurz lik the 2 of those” make me go ugh! ~Big

you can't speak for every one on that. I went clear up to 11th grade, and I don't know a damn thing about verb congigation, or dangling participles, or where a comma should go and when. Ok comma's, are kind of easy I guess, but not every one who's done more than elementary school knows how to punctuate. Of course, I don't mind that I'm not super up on "proper punctuation" but yeah, you can't make a blanket statement like any one who's ever gone beyond elementary knows how...... quote: ORIGINAL: DiurnalVampire anyone who has been through at least slementary school has learned to puncuate. unless you reject every one who doesn't write in a way you want them to, or present their typed word in a way you want them to, the written word is not a good way of weeding out people, as a bad match in my opinion. quote: ORIGINAL: secretagentgirl I am just thankful that it gives one more way to weed out people that would just truly be a bad match. Well i didnt save the email, but some 24yr old "Dom" sent me a email and the asked me if i was into bestiality within the first sentance. Some people are just plain stupid.
