There's been one fetish that is among my numerous list of hard limits, that being vampirism. My query is this:For those who are into, vampirism, what does it have to do with BDSM? :-?

It's part of the fantasy many people believe that is what is BDSM?

It has as much to do with BDSM as watersports.
It gets some people off sexually ergo fetish.
Not sure what else you need or want to know - or how deep you want to take a bite...

hmmmmmmmmm... is that to say that those into 'vampirism' actually ARE blood-drinkers?

Yes.
And that's so hard to comprehend?

Besides - not all watersports are consumed either.

Never considered vampire role play or scening, let alone living a lifestyle as such, that is a little too contrived for my taste, but damn, vamipre movies are hot.  The unfathomable, supernatural strength, power, darkness, mystery...  I like the darkness and power of the life-force/ blood play concepts too.  I'm a little scared to speak on it, because it isn't that appealing to me in real life; I don't want scars, and I really hate needles, but the thought/concept of blood play does turn me on.  Mmm, I also have a love/hate relationship with neck play.  I feel like it is the most vulnerable part of my body, and choking, or even things wrapped snugly around my neck kind of freak me out, but the intimacy of that with someone you love/trust is very intense and beautiful.  I also loooooove biting on the neck, it is so primal!  Never drawn blood (or had mine spilled) that way though, mind you.

Sorry, not all that was specifically vampirism, but, what does it have to do with BDSM?  Demonstration of power/strength, submission, power exchange, darkness, Sadism&masochism, domination, trust, intimacy... seems to fit in pretty well to me.

Well, kinda, yes.  I enjoy making people bleed a bit and even licking blood...  but I have the old fashioned idea vampires actually suck blood to sustain their existance.

And... don't they often burst into flames in the sunshine?

I see 'vampirism' as the same sort of fantasy some have about being a slave; the reality is quite a bit different than their fantasy.

And...what IS a vampire...in reality?  Based on what I just said about me...would you consider me a vampire?  I would not...just another kinky bitch.

B

edited to add:  I agree Tigrita...the vampire stores ARE erotic as hell; but...fantasy, to me.  I contend a little licking does not a drinker make....

Then maybe - if you wish to be well informed, it may assist you to learn what vampirism is and not the storybook version?

But regardless - even by your description of what you believe vampirism 'is' - that would then place that in the same vein as a Master/slave relationship - sure it 'exists' - but not in reality (so sayeth the law).
Its all fantasy by your concluesion.

I am like LaBelle.  It is a power/energy exchange.  And biting!  I like biting and being bitten.  No blood is drawn but the symbolism is very, very intense.

Actually...'it' is not all fantasy in my book.  I have lived in a D/s relationship...and have several other good friends in M/s relationships.  I like and enjoy "The Power Exchange" and do not believe that living such a life is living a fantasy.

However, I do believe a lot of people (I believe they're refered to as wankers) do not really have a clue the kind of life I live or what TPE is or could be...and that what they do is read books and think it's like what they read.

I don't believe licking blood off a cut I might make makes me a vampire.  Do you?   You are correct if you have surmised I believe those who consider 'vampirism' are fantasizing along the same lines as the those who want to be kept on a chain in the basement with a bucket for company.  It's just not realistic.

If you are telling me that people who DO lick a couple drops of  blood off their partners are vampires...then I stand corrected.

I myself am one that enjoys the occasional theatrics of a scene, along with no blood biting as part of the sensation play. The setting, erotisism, and even a touch of mysticism that many feel in that atmosphere is a canvas that appeals to my tastes for power exchange and the 'taking" of another.
Besides, Erzsébet Báthory was Hungarian.

Who said it was only a couple of drops?
And it is yourself who is using blood as an example.  Not all vampires ingest blood.
You are working on - from your words - the blood sucking burstintoflames creatures of the night.  Typical storybook sensationalism.  My suggestion is instead of just making an uniformed statement based on your self assessment, that you also might decide to look into what vampirism is to a vampire and those that are involved.

Your definition places m/s into the fantasy realm.

The question asked just what vampirism has to do with BDSM.  My response is - the same as watersports - in that BDSM is an acronym and if you want to be picky - it doesn't - unless there is a power exchange as well.  And if there is a power exchange - then that is where the D for domination and discipline comes in.

Fluid exchange? Can be hot.
Blood licking? Again, can be hot.

Emotional vampirism? Not hot at all.
Psychic Vampirisim? eh I'm 50/50 on that. Avoiding games and role-playing, pretty cool. Dressing up? That's fashion, not BDSM.

hmmmmmmmmm... not all vampires ingest blood?  Whoda thunkit!

You're right, I thought that was the point and was what defined vampires; blooddrinkers.  Unless we're speaking of a member of some band...I have no idea what your definition of 'being a vampire' IS.  Obviously...you have some other idea here; why don't you just share it?

If a group of people have decided to start a new lifestyle and call themselves 'vampires'; I'd have to insist most people would assume they're into blood of some sort.  I could start a group and call it 'baseball players' too... and most people would assume it had something to do with the game called 'baseball'.  No?

Okay...I'm obviously part of the herd mentality; enlighten me, please.  Anybody?  What is a vampire, today?

Beverly

The question/OP was about vampirism, not the type of vampirism - and as for 'my' understanding of vampirism, it is the standard definition - not the storybook - and it is not 'todays' definition, it is as it always has been - not simply surviving off blood but subsisting with - as an example; blood or another form of fluid, solid or whatever they 'feed' from.
Vampirism can be a form of power exchange.  If power exchange is part of domination or a form of discipline - that is what it has to do with BDSM.
