Also curious what rights Dom's/ Domme's etc see there sub's / slave's as having?

If she wants to walk, then go for it; there's no use in holding someone by force: it's like a dictator controlling the population, it is built on aggression and violence. What sort of relationship is that? It's not good for self-esteem.

Find a woman who you can have a good conversation with, one who likes to cook for you, one who is sexually submissive, one who is smart, attractive, intelligent and sexy; providing you look after her, and you live up to your part of the bargain, there isn't going to be any walking away.

Edited to add:

In terms of wider rights, she has all the rights in the world; in fact, I'd expect her to exercise her rights at every opportunity: her right to walk tall, her right to equality, her right to voice her displeasure or pleasure, her right to strive to be the best she can be while allowing herself mistakes, after all.....she's only a human with a great pair of tits ;-)

I expect her to want to please me because she wants to, not because I've threatened her with locking her in the cellar. Mind you, too much talk of shoes and celebrities and that's where she'll be going: I draw the line at the perceived right to talk bollocks :-) For every celebrity mentioned, I guarantee 15 minutes of extreme nipple torture: it's in the small print upfront.

I think the one inviolable "right" that every slave should have is the right to be happy.  All the limits, privileges, negotiations seem to stem from that.

Not even the constitution grants that right, or the right to have needs and key-desires met.

Life isn't always happy. Some needs and desires sometimes must go unmet.

Consider what happens if a slave is seriously ill.

She may want to continue serving, but must be refused so as to rest and regain her health.

She won't be happy about that if serving is what she wants to do, but a master must think of her health before her happiness.

i have the right to be treated with respect and as an equal until such time i choose to submit to you.

i have the right to have my limits  understood and not pushed unless mutually agreed upon.

i have the right to refuse a command/order which may endanger my safety, health or goes against my morals.

To me it is theoretical semantics. The difference between I as Master allow you to visit your sick mother in the hospital is just role playing because the alternative is the slave saying I damn well am going to see my sick mother in the hospital. Does that mean the relationship is over or the slave is not committed to an M/s life? I do not think so. That is why I think the one right is theoretical semantics. There are basic human rights that M/s cannot over rule that are in and around all types of relationships.

If there is one real right is the slave will have the right to have her needs and key desires fulfilled. How that is done is up to the two people involved.

i disagree that a slave automatically has the right to have her needs and major desires fulfilled, unless that was something agreed upon before entering the dynamic.

there is no situation/circumstance in my life which could overrule or supercede my Master's authority. when i learned my maternal grandmother had suddenly died, i asked my Master if he would take me to see my family. He said no, and not more than 5 minutes after hanging up the phone from the conversation where i was told this news, he had me on my knees with my arms bound behind my back sucking his cock. tears fell, i was sad for a bit, but i accepted it and eventually got over it.

a couple of years later, i got word that my grandpa was dying, and asked my Master if he would take me to see him before he died. He said yes to this and had me there the next day...i'll always be grateful for that. because the fact is he can always say no, he does not have to meet my needs or desires or keep me happy. this relationship does not hinge on my (a slave's) happiness and fulfillment.

  Well said, NorthernGent.

For what it's worth, I have any right I care to have... until such time as he wishes to deny me.  Even then, I have the right to use my own common sense to decide when to assert my rights and when to comply without question.  I also have the right to decide if I wish the consequences of my actions to be pleasing to him and to myself.  After all, every right I have (the same as anyone else) comes with obligations.  They can't be separated.

Does that not then make your right actually a privilege as it can be taken away.
Even then, I have the right to use my own common sense to decide when to assert my rights and when to comply without question.
Of course just as i have the right to use my common sense about my only right, the choice to leave.
I would like to think that i always comply without question, part of my service to Him.
After all, every right I have (the same as anyone else) comes with obligations.  They can't be separated.
My right to leave as i see it comes with no obligations. If i choose to leave i choose to leave, im not obligated to do anything.

  • to have this slave's needs met by Master...for as long as He will have her around
  • to do what Master would, on His behalf, should He be physically unable to
  • to beg nicely

this slave does NOT have the right to:
  • privacy
  • die first
  • call the shots

I agree with this. My needs and major desires just happen to be fulfilled by His being fulfilled.

  • to have this slave's needs met by Master...for as long as He will have her around
  • I can see this one.
  • to do what Master would, on His behalf, should He be physically unable to
  • So if Merc said you couldn't do those things for Him would you still do them as an intrinsic right?
  • to beg nicely
  • So if Merc said you were no longer allowed to beg, you would see it as your right to beg?

I believe that any "rights" or clarifications should be discussed early on, so there is no confusion.

Same as with any relationship, rights pertaining to THAT relationship are (hopefully) discussed and agreed upon early on.

When I was seeking a Mistress, I had the absolute right to:

1. seek one that shared my interests, goals, and morals.
2. walk away from any Dominant that thought they could dismiss or expect me to abandon any aspect of my family life.
3. click that little "X" at the top right of the page when I determined that I was talking to (insert personal choice of mass murders/rapists)
4. expect complete honesty
5. Have an opinion on how the relationship was structured.

Now, before you ask me to explain 5.....

For a relationship to be consentual, both parties must agree to relationship boundries, rights, rules, expecations......even a M/s one.  So, yes, in my opinion slaves do have rights.  (put away the torches, i have the "right" to my opinion, see #3)

In my personal relationship with my Mistress, we share the following rights:

1. complete honesty at all times
2. to be shown respect
3. to express concerns, opinions
4. to re-evaluate the relationship if something is not working
5. time with family/friends (our #1 rule is "Family first ALWAYS"
6. morals never compromised in any way
7. to say no to anything illegal
8. to end the relationship at any time that the above rights have been violated.  However, I firmly believe that neither of us would simply walk away without lengthy discussion on what was wrong and attempts at resolving the issue.

Personally, I just see everything I listed above as "The right to expect rational/reasonable behavior" but what's rational/reasonable to me doesn't always fall into the next persons opinion.

pj

ps...the right to express opinions/concerns does carry the responsiblity to express those in a respectful tone/manner.

that you have NO control over ...no matter what your title is

This question can be gone at from several different ways, as evidenced by the variety of answers given.

Rights are negotiable, hopefully done well before entering into the relationship.  While I find it ironic that so many claim the title of slave and yet seem to want to have the same rights, freedoms and privileges that many submissives have...and in some cases more than many submissives have...to each their own.  I have learned, though to a large extent disagree with the idea, that you can call yourself what you choose to call yourself.

As an example of several areas of my own thoughts on this:  In my own dynamic, I feel that the submissive has the right to be happy and fulfilled but believe that her happiness and fulfillment should not come at the expense of others or at the expense of the dynamic and our positions within that dynamic.  I fully expect that a great deal, though certainly not all (nor would I want it to be all) of her happiness and fulfillment should be found by doing what she agreed to do...submit.  I do not believe that any dominant should, nor be expected to, tie themselves in knots to dominate her in a way that she finds ALWAYS pleasing.  There are going to be times that she will not find my dominance pleasing...I accept that and expect it.  She has the right to walk away from this at any time.  She has the right to state upfront what she considers to be abusive behavior and, if the dominant agrees with her concept of abuse, to be free from it.

Unfortunately, that takes us into a philosophical debate over what exactly a "right" is.  All I can say is that in order for a right to be inalienable, it must be acknowledged and respected.   I may say I have the right to live, but if an individual deprives me of my life (murders me), have they not denied me my right?  Does that mean that my "right" was really only a privilege?

lol... I couldn't possibly claim to even approach perfect compliance without question... I'm far too pragmatic for that.  But perhaps that is part of my charm to him; he knows that my deference to him comes through the fire of my own common sense and judgment and that ultimately, even though I may not agree and it might even make me unhappy, when I comply I'm demonstrating to him that I respect and trust in him enough to surrender control... that being with him and pleasing him means that much to me.

There is always the obligation to accept the consequences of your actions.

I have all sorts of rights, too many to mention; all the rights I had before I was owned.  I've given M the right to decide which, how and when I exercise them.

My own personal belief is that  a slave has no rights; they have priveledges that are granted to them by the owner.

That sounds like "privilege", not "rights".

Rights are irrevocable. Privileges can be revoked.
