Who doesn't want to kill a few cheeseheads? Bravo Officer-Killing-Spree. Bravo.

All I know is the Bears are playing Green Bay tonight so I'm hoping for a few more dead cheeseheads by the end of the night. [sm=evil.gif]

Pulpsmack -> RE: Six dead in US shooting spree (10/7/2007 3:37:17 PM)

Well, we have given law enforcement the keys to the kingdom regarding smallarms and they too have demonstrated that they cannot be trusted with these dangerous, evil, fang-spewing death machines either. I wonder when the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence will start advocating "common sense" gun regulation to take these murder machines out of the hands of the highly stressed police population so that these horrible things can't happen anymore.

Oh that's right... the premise that we need to disarm THIS population is absurd since the utility of guns in self-defense and homeland security outweighs the extreme minority of misuse by the fringe element in the population, whereas the premise to do the same for THAT population is "common sense," despite the same factors involved on the other side. I suppose a tin button and blue pants makes all the difference in the world.

It sickens me when any asshole inflicts the frustrations of his insignificant existence upon others who have their own problems, none of which they foist upon their slayer. It just pisses me off more that everytime I hear such stories they must turn straight back upon this issue, and when curve balls such as these (and the countless times a weapon in the right hands thwarts a violent crime) are thrown right there on the scene, they are ignored on the basis that they do not support the assinine premise that guns are evil and scary things that should magically be teleported into the ocean (or failing that, in the hands of the police only).

These stories are sad, depressing, and inevitable with some of the social conditions and pressures we exact upon those with something unscrewed in their heads, who interact daily with others within our society.

Cops are people too, good, bad, and ugly, and they deserve no special treatment or persecution (which is inevitable since they often receive special treatment) with respect to their actions. There are good cops who demonstrate societal value with their contributions and there are the others who belong behind bars or beneath the surface. A competant responsible handler of firearms is not earned by the tin one pins to the chest. It is earned by the person's commitment to safety, responsibility, and judgment. Unfortunately there are enough idiots in this world (with celebrity contributors) who shout "common sense" right out of the issue.

Go figure man. Honestly this is the 1st I heard of it and I've had the TV on behind me all day. Not a single word about it until I heard it here and then looked it up. As I understand it the whole spree killing thing, although not strictly a US thing, certainly happens here more often than elsewhere. That's probably why. Honestly when I looked it up I was like "only 5 dead? - Hardly newsworthy."

Rule -> RE: Six dead in US shooting spree (10/7/2007 3:43:44 PM)

I move that all police officers be disarmed to prevent this from ever happening again.

laurell3 -> RE: Six dead in US shooting spree (10/7/2007 3:48:39 PM)

I'm getting the impression he wasn't on duty and went nuts over a domestic issue.  How does that at all apply to law enforcement in general?

It's not part of the magic media horseshit lineup...

1. Celebrity Lawbreaking
2. Minority beating by the police
3. Disgruntled white male workplace/bullied student school shooting
4. Pitbull attacks

Anything less than strict adherance goes as far as local media in a smaller city and is swept under the rug entirely in a large city

HaveRopeWillBind -> RE: Six dead in US shooting spree (10/7/2007 3:54:31 PM)

I was just watching the NBC news coverage of this event and it got about 1 minute of coverage. If it had been a school kid doing the shooting it would have gotten most of the evening broadcast. Guess there are just too many stories about cops going berserk lately to be big-time newsworthy here anymore.

Or,....

We could arm every person who breathes, including all children/teenagers.This way, when the cops go berzerk,we could shoot back.

Makes perfect sense.
