xian's Master has a saying: "Assumption is the mother of all stuff-ups".  Maybe these women who advocate the "sisterhood" should take His advice and quit pushing something that they might not appreciate onto people.

girl wishes well,

Did he get that from "Under Siege 2"?

Is every submissive your sister?   If not who would you consider in your D/s sisterhood if anyone?

I lump this into a category like men your mom dates (if your mom is single and / or dates). The whole "Call me Uncle Jerry" thing always felt slimy.

If I were in a poly house and the relationship were a close one, I wouldn't mind a bit for that girl to call me sister; otherwise, it's like the feeling I get when strangers touch me.

Anyway---for me, I consider a submissive sister---either one who is owned by the same Master as myself or perhaps someone I am extreemely close to.   I get irritated when I am lumped into a D/s sisterhood group---I detest being called sis by people I do not know and do not get me started on that sicky sweet word 'sissa'.

You are not alone! I too really hate this one. There is one who calls me sister that i do not mind because of the loving reason she does it (hello cheeky cutey butt). But i do not care for the presumed relationship from others simply because we are both subbies.

Well, since you've started this. Yes, Yes!!! I absolutely hate when someone I neither know, nor care to, calls me her "sister in submission". I want to rip their hair out and scream at them.

Would I call someone else who plays mini golf my sister just because we share a common activity? Hell no! Same goes for assuming I automatically have anything in common with someone in Barnes and Noble just because we've both picked up the same book.

Thank you for allowing me to vent, all my sisters in ranthood

I had one sister, she was murdered 19yrs ago, and she was my best friend and confidant. For someone to assume she can call me sister is insulting to my real sister who is gone. If you don’t know me why would you call me sister, or any variation of such? If you do know me then you know that stepping on my sister’s memory would be tacky and none of my female friends BDSM or other wise would do that.

There is nothing more off-putting than getting an email from someone calling me their "sister". Excuse me? I've only got one sister and they are NOT her! My best friend is a "sister I chose" and has been for over 21 years. Again, whoever those strangers are, they are NOT her.

There are no submissives I know who I would call "sister". Some I feel close to but it's not the same thing as a 'sister'. If one of my friends calls me sister, then I accept it as a show that they feel comfortable with me but it's not a term I use for anyone else.

Just my thoughts...........

I'm going to say ditto to what she said, lol.  I don't have a biological sister, and the only women I've ever called sisters are my sorority sisters.  I detest being called sis, sissy, sissa (that one makes my skin crawl) by anyone I don't know or have a close relationship with.

I made the mistake of calling other subs my sistas. I got the smack down of my life. honestly, I find it sad. I thought I could find a sense of belonging here and support.

I have gotten neither.

Well, I do have my very own family and they are there for me. Other subs seems to want to rip my head of at the mention of a possible link.

Its ok, you can call me sista!

I have no problem when other women find it appealing to want to relate to me.  Actually it's flattering and an honor.  I do think it is possible to overstep this boundary, and it's quite clear that different people have the boundary in different places but I use the term sister a lot personally and r ather flipply so.....

it's all good with me.

A lot of people do not enjoy forced intimacy. Simply because you share an interest with me does not mean we will get along. We may even hate each other.

I'm all about support and sense of belonging but those things can not be forced. They evolve, not magically spring to life because of all the people in the room happen to be submissive.

In all the threads I've seen you create and post on I've seen you get lots of support.  Now, I define support as listening and working dynamically to create insightful and workable solutions to your situations, you may define support as tell me I'm cool and make me feel good.

But it's a very common false expectation people have when they get into the scene that we're any different and that there will be any sort of real solid community- it's very much more a fuedal state situation.

i have no issues lending support, an ear, an opinion or whatever...i am all for that kind of thing. i personally just don't want someone to be overly familiar with me when they don't know me....to be conisdered my sister, you' d have to be very close to me...it would be like calling a man who is a Dominant, Master, Sir or Daddy when i don't know him....it is fake.....and those titles are earned....through a bond.

i can be a friend, and supportive and all of the rest, but it takes something special to consider someone a sister.
