Cyntilating,

Thanks for the welcome.

I think your words ring true and I will keep reading posts for now. I know that everyone has a difference in opinions and some will reply in their own ways. I will keep that in mind. I just seem to have alway been one that wants to help (not always the right thing...I guess).
Email anytime that you want to talk. I love making new friends.

depends on the Master

one might only get me on my knees if he trips me...

the other may get all of me
dripping,
begging
and wet
screaming for mercy

well wishes

My 2 cents worth, and you don't have to agree.

A Top applies the stimulation.
The bottom receives the stimulation.

A Dom exerts some control over a submissive.
A submissive has surrendered some control to her Dom.

A Master is one of two things:
1. Someone who has earned the honorific in the formal leather community and has had the honorific bestowed, and did not self-name himself  'Master'.
2. Someone who, within the context of a specific relationship, identifies himself as Master of his slave or submissive and she agrees with it. Outside of the relationship, he is Master to no one.

A slave is someone who believes herself to be a slave, and her Master sees her as such.

.

Exactly.  Why do people continue to think they should come here and be coddled and hugged when they ask questions?  Why do they become upset when people mention the search function?  Why do people have the misguided thought that others in the lifestyle are here to serve them and their questions?  How did they function before the internet? This is also why I very seldom post on these boards, and maybe I'm wrong in my thinking but here goes. You see I don't see it as people looking to be coddled and hugged when they ask questions, but I do think they are hoping to maybe be treated as we would like to be treated,I was taught that if I had nothing nice to say then I probably shouldn't say it at all.To me that just falls under the category of common courtasy that's something I strive for every day and pray I never loose.

My girl is a slave, yours is "just" a submissive.

John

John, I take offence to that remark, becaue is demeans My sub, and sincerely hope You were being sarcausticly funny.
I am going to respond to this as though You were serious, and address the issue, because I have encountered this sentiment before, and it irks Me.
My sub is NOT "just" anything. she is a remarkable woman who happens to be a submissive. This is not in any way less than a slave, or better, it is simply different. Saying one is "just a sub" rather than a slave is like saying Just strawberry rather than caramel when it comes to favorite ice cream.
One thing I hate is arrogance. I have found it is ussualy based on insecurity. I am not better than a sub, nor worse than a master. I am Myself, and and My self worth is based on who and what I am, my life experience, and how I respond to and interact with others, the choices I make in life, ect. It is NOT based on my D/s orientation, and the same is true of everyone here.
Those posting here should be respectfull of everyone else, and not demeen anyone else, or claim that anyone else is superior somehow because of their orientation.

**Setting up fan's for the Shit to hit, and Pots to stir the Muck. Rakes for said Muck, and starting the velvet rope visitor line for the piss'n'moaner croud to do said pissing and moaning**

Okay the difference between a sub and a slave is US! We are the difference between a sub and a slave, when we define it, when we determine what is and isn't in this lifestyle we are the ones making the difference.

They are words folks and yes they can sting and break bones and things like that but at the end of the day the words are used to define the emotion behind them. I use the word Dom, this is short for Dominant, and the definition I use has nothing to do with what I do with a sub or a slave in fact the definition I use has nothing to do with any other person.

The sub and slave debate is all in our minds. It is the words we as individuals to seperate us from a Mass Descriptor.

I am a Man, but so is Half (Or less, I think that women outnumber men) of the worlds population. Most Serial Killers are Men, so does that mean I am to be grouped into the same class as all serial killers?

This is the same concept as sub vs slave because everyone wants something specific and no one can agree on what definition to use for that specific feeling so instead we use CONTRAST!!!

We Contrast sub and slave so that we can make one sound more desirable to US, and if someone agrees with our contrast then there we go we now have a poinient concept that again only matters to Me and the person I am interested in.

The Person who posted this question, I have already contacted on the other side and offered my opinion on these things, this goes to everyone who is still getting thier panties in a bunch over others peoples definitions.

Realize that all that matters is how you relate to youre partner/potential partner/curious passer by, and leave the definitions where they belong..... In a Dictionary, or Lexicon.

As Always

Sorry about that.  It's an inside thing, there are lots and lots and lots of opinion and strong opinions somtimes.  For me, it's about the Dom and what they want, they will find things about you that will confirm their opinion of you,  one way or the other.  I always think of a slave as a "submissive plus" girl, it happens over a great deal of time of loving/serving someone.  Yep, the war begins!... Laughing   Don't worry it's a good question, it's just not one that has a perfect answer.   Don't get to hung up on it. It'll make you crazy, and in the end, you are who you are. Take care and good luck!
