So I was watching this movie Zeitgeist.  And it made me realize something.  Most, if not everything about religion is....well....false.  I would go into detail but it's best if you watch the movie.

Far be it from me to stay on the "safe" side of things, so let me see if I got this right...

Christianity: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense.

I'll do a double reply.

InkedMaster: Yes.  Exactly right.

And LaTigresse, my name actually means, at least for my interpretation, the one true master over all these ignorant little fuckers my age calling themselves Doms for sex.

People will decide for themselves what their truth is.

Some will decide that there is no greater force than themselves.

Some will decide that there is a power greater than themselves.

I can't run around thinking that people are the be all end all.  Most folks just aren't "all that."

I do believe in a higher power.  I call him God.  I am a Christian and quite happy to be one.  If others have a problem with that it is their problem and not mine.

I'm quite content to let others make their own choices and appreciate those who are willing to let me do the same.   That is what we like to refer to as tolerance.

Your reply to me on the forum is enough thank you. I do not need personal mail from you as well.

If you really think that using a name as you have and passing comments about other people on this site that you know nothing about is not going to get a negative response then you have a lot to learn. I suggest you rethink your attitude.

How was sharainks pushing her beliefs onto you? I didnt get that from her message. She was just stating her opinion. As did everyone on this post.

All religion is fantasy, a psychological crutch, a security blanket that shuts out the stark reality of existance.

Well,

When I joined this group, I did not expect for my religion to be bashed. If you do not like religion, stay out of it.
I have heard my Lord referred to as many things, but never before have I heard Him referred to as a Jewish Zombie.
What I have learned in my Christian life is that most people who have these type feelings about Christianity are very threatened by us, and may need it themselves.  If that statement made you angry, examine your own heart.  There is where it all starts.

I would not have made it through my life without faith.   I feel sorry for those who hate.

Regards, MissSCD

What? Religion is fake? There are no Gods or Goddesses hanging up in the sky, just waiting for us to make a mistake so we can be smited?

Well, I'm going to temper that a bit:
I'm an astronomer. I look out, away from the Earth, and I see the universe. A universe not only stranger than I or anyone imagines, but stranger than anyone CAN imagine. Where did it all come from? Was it a creation by some being(s), or an accident of nature? (Pretty awesome thought, either way.) Where do we fit into the picture? Are we alone?

The problem I have with all of man's religions so far is: their conception of God is too small, too petty, too much of a mirror of man's worst qualities, for me to take them seriously.

A few of them have some good sociological ideas: don't go around killing people, try to be fair and honest with others, help out wherever you can... the rest of it is usually just crap.

I feel threatened by anyone with such a poor hold on reality. What is the difference between some fantasy god speaking to them and some fantasy devil? The nutty thing about our society is that one will be respected for one belief and put in a straitjacket for the other.

In my eyes they both should be in a straitjacket.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am one that has no religious beliefs apart from thinking that it is a bit of a fairy story. I certainly do not feel threatened by those that have religious beliefs. They are entitled to think any way they wish.

If you are happy being a Christian then good for you, but do not assume that automatically makes you better than someone who is not. There is a big difference between hate and just not believing in something. If you can prove to me without a shadow of a doubt that God exists then I would re-examine my thinking. Until then it continues to be a work of fiction as far as I am concerned.

The problem, as I see it anyway, with religious fantatics........is that they are so........fantatical about it!

I honestly don't care what a person believes. They can worship a man living on the moon because it is made of green cheese, for all I care. It is when they try to convince me that I need to believe the same, that they are somehow better, that I am somehow evil, for not believing the same. THAT is when I have a problem.

A religious person will feel it is their constitutional right to spout whatever their beliefs are, whereever and whenever they choose. BUT if you spout off anything that contradicts their belief with even half the conviction and passion, they you are evil and attacking them.

I suppose it is because it threatens the very core of who they are, because it challenges something that cannot be proven. Yet it is something that is so important to them on such a personal level.

All in all, people really need to loosen up.

I'll start by saying I don't have any religious beliefs but I don't understand why you came to the realisation you did as a result of one film. What happens in th film?

Also, for all th eproblems they bring, I wouldn't be totally down on religion because a lot of great art has been inspred by faith and in turn has inspired other art. It may be outmoded now but there is a certain element to human beings that just seems to need some catalyst to bring the best out of them. I respect the fact that for some this is religious and try not to put them down or convert them.

I would add the word "some" to the above, LT.
