Older means "has lived longer" -- period.  Hopefully those extra years have had some experiences and that I learn a few things from those experiences.  For example, I'm probably better at putting together a resume than someone just out of collage.  Does than mean I'm better, more qualified or more intelligent?  No.  It means I am better at making a resume because I have done it more often.

Let's put it this way: I've played banjo for 12 years and I suck at it.

Yes, but see, you probably fucking hated that bullshit banjo which probably was a fucking ukelele just labeling itself a bullshit banjo, overcompensating for some pissed off residual bullshit fucking anger shit.

Tee hee

That was like being inside my own head for a minute.

One other thing to remember is that even someone who has been in the lifestyle for a long time may have no real practical experience. I do not consider them fakes, because we all do not have the same opportunities even if we read up on every subject and have real discussions. Some people are theoretical and thats fine, just be aware that their real experience is rather limited.

I think the OP's question was answered very well by Archer several pages, and months ago.  This comment, however, brought something else.

I'm wondering exactly how someone can be termed "in the lifestyle with no  practical experience".  While I realize that not everyone has had an opportunity yet to explore certain things with another person, each person has to decide for themselves how to live.

Using the wording above, I can apply the concept to almost anything.  For example, I can read books on Buddhism.  I can spend My time talking with Buddhists.  I might even go to the temple.  Does it make Me a Buddhist?  Ummm.... No.

I'm only a Buddhist if I chose to be one.  If I live My life that way.  All of the reading and studying in the world doesn't 'make' Me a Buddhist.  I might have extensive knowledge of Buddhism, but not the wisdom that comes from being one.

The combination of age and experience doesn't guarantee anything.

I've got six years experience behind me and I'm still learning things. For instance, I recently discovered that I have a sadistic streak. A sub asked me to do some things that I found a bit uncomfortable at first. Now I find these same activities highly pleasurable.

I would never has guessed that back when I got started...

No matter your age, there is Always something you don't know.

That said, it depends on the person.

Age does not always mean that they are experienced. There are a lot of dominant men who have come into the lifestyle after or during  a divorce or their mid life crisis. There are far too many dominants who have created a huge dominant presence or reputation for themselves without the real life resume to back it up. Don't let the gray hairs or bald heads fool you.

older means older... wiser means you took time to learn from what ever life has thrown at  you.
