Look, my armour isn't shiney. Battleworn.  Rebuilding castle, get some wenches in it to clean my armour.  Then to take over the Kingdom!

It's because we were raised by women, programmed by women(mom). to be what they say a woman wants( a knight; yes man; provider; implide dom, butto the world, not to her), not wut they really want ( A dominant to the world and her, show her who's in control to make her feel safe), PC thing.
With broken families on the rise, these 50's values have changed slightly.more equality more balance. with the genders, FU the economy(doubling the workforce)

My knight in shinning armour was on the opposite coast. I was NYker , he was Californian and he wasnt anything like the fairy tale. He is red haired, laid back, veggie loving, free spirited ,easy going and flexable. I am typical ny attitude with german jew tossed in for temperment and a farmers daughter.  We met,  fell in love and he moved here by choice. His horse was a white T-bird. He is not tall dark but he is wonderful in my eyes. He is not my rescuer at all. He does not protect me nor do I want or need protecting. we are two adults that make it work.

I do not desire the same things as you do. I have no desire to have that archetype as a dominant, and that is what the White Knight is, and as such he appeals to a wide variety of people... either they want to be with him, or they want to be him. He is the "Hero" after all.

I do want my partner to be heroic, but I want to be a hero too. I also want to be the princess, the wise old woman, and the mage too... But as my profile says, I contain multitudes, and those who inhabit my life do too....

I suppose my Daddy as some of the antihero in him, he is also very much the Father archetype for me. Fathers take care of their charges, but they do not need to protect them from every dark wizard or dragon... they teach how to protect yourself and how to stand on your own two feet... a good father does not stunt for his own ends and ego. I suppose that is why I strongly identify my Daddy with that archetype over the others... although, like me, he contains multitudes too.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNicely put, Rafe!!!

I used to do this too...rescued my first wife from  her overly-strict parents and when I did not give her enough of my time (funny thing, doctoral courses take up a lot of free time) and gave her the freedom she said she craved...she found herself in the arms of her boss.  Did it to a certain extent with my second wife and wound up with someone much as Rafe describes.  Did it with several other women, including one of my submissives, all to varying...though lesser than with my first wife...extents..  Finally...finally...figured out that I wasn't cut out to be a knight;  I've got too many of my own faults and foibles to be a true, selfless knight...and I cannot help but wonder, perhaps a bit cynically, if it isn't the "Selfless" part of the "knight" that many of the women who seek knights yearn for;  that willingness to always put the damsel's needs and wants and desires before his own?

When I got involved with the sorts of women who seem to crave this-there was nothing left over for me. I'd rather have a slave, than be one.

Don't we all dream about him, no matter how we identifiy ourselfs? Don't we want to be swept off our feet (out of control) If he's not plenty stronger, how can he protect us? If his personality isn't more dominant, how can he take care of us? If that sword won't destroy anyone who might try to hurt us, who is he? And if he can't hurt us, how couldn he possibly hurt someone trying to do us harm? Yes, personally, I like being choked, feeling helpless to the whim of a man.. but if the man is strong enouph to protect me, when am I not at his whim?

Just a thought..

Actually I tend to be the "knight in shining armor" in most of my relationships. It doesn't have to be a gender or sex thing.

If they're at my feet with that beautiful: I'll do anything for You look in their eyes, they're My Knight.

I know a lot of people scoff at The Knight in Shining Armour concept however, I have experienced it in D/s. It is a very deep romantic and exciting experience.

Yes, I did...but note that you speak from the perspective of a femdominant...and the Knight you speak of is submissive to YOU, he is not (supposed to be) the dominant.

i'm going to be the rebel in this and say - nope never dreamed "that someday my prince will come" or "the knight in shining armor with long flowing hair riding on his noble steed" to rescue me.

i'm a different kind of princess who's independent and strong enough to defend her own castle.

When you idolize someone to that extent you're bound to become disappointed at some point. The higher that shining knight sits on his horse the harder he's going to fall.

i think any woman who intends for her dom to be her rescuer isn't looking for a dominant but rather a caretaker - and what dom wants a woman who is so needy he has to be her caretaker, in other words, whats in it for him?   If i were a dom i wouldn't want the complications - sounds like too much work to get what "i want" - too high a price to pay when you can get someone already with their act together to bring what they have to offer to the table as well.

I have no need or desire to be saved.

I want a man strong enough to support me when I'm feeling weak, soft enough to ask for help when he needs to, Compasionate enough to comfort me when I'm sad and lost, intelligent enough to admit when he feels the same, courageous enough to stand against anything to protect me, but not to arrogant to admit when he needs my help.

I want a someone that does not fear to see me as an equal yet loves the fact i choose to curl at his feet.

No not really. I dream more of a guy that can swept me off my feet with a kiss, who has my back in life. Who wants to build and share a life with me. But I don’t want him to be more dominant then me, nor do I want him to make me feel helpless. And I don’t really need someone to save me.

Nodding, this was my experience as well. Women who expect this sort of man seem to be very vampiric. And very demanding as well-not my idea of how a happy D/s thing should function.

Ya know I suddenly like you more...

Nothing wrong with being the Dragon... Hell I prefer the Dragon... much better then some mamby pamby mama's boy of a kniggit. Swinging his sword around.. being all noisy... Mind your own business bub... some madiens *want* to get eaten by the Dragon.. have you seen the tongues on those things? Honestly!

I still say the Maiden in Dragon Heart should have gone for the Dragon instead of the silly lil human.. ick.. humans..

Ok enough of my rant.. more to come.
