My reactions to your reactions:

1. What kind of man says "EWWW"?

2. How do you know what they are doing is depraved? What is "poverty-enslaved" and if you are so enslaved, how do you get into the bar? Don't you know "tourist's" is possessive?

3. Who said these women were socially powerful? Maybe they are just housewives spending the husband's yearly bonus out for kicks?

4. Did Kenya have a "colonialism injustice" period, or are you assuming that all Kenyans know American History?

5. Did it cross your mind that this isn't about classim (sic), racism, or colonialism - it is about getting some strange dick?

Now, what I want to know is:
what is "built like an Olympic basketball star" like quoted in the article?

Do they wear big, shiny, floppy shorts down to their knees?

1) A man who knows he's a man and doesnt have to worry about it says ewwww whenever he damn well feels like it.

2) If you'd read the post's, I already acknowledged they weren't such victims of poverty they couldn't get into a bar.

3) Did you read the part of the article about the increased socal power of western women in an impovershed foriegn land? Even I noticed this and havent been to Kenya since I was ten...Ever been outside America/Europe as a tourist? you're surrounded by middle class western's getting a kick out of buying steaks for the price of a couple peanuts...It's why so many people are griping about the decline in the dollar's value.

4) Kenya DID have a 'colonial injustice periord', known as colonialism, which ended within their adult's lifetimes, and all the kids DO learn English as the national language, English history, and American history. Every president and leader they've had since independence was educated in English universities...

5) If not for classism, racism, or colonialism, what exactly MAKES it "strange dick" in the first place?

My mother was a grandma at 40. Some of the people I went to high school with are grandparents already. I am old enough to be a grandma myself... And I regularly get younger men that hit on me... now that squicks me out.

People get squicked over whatever it is that squicks them... the idea of being intimate with a man my UMs age is just revolting to me.

Old-people sex is pretty "EEWWWWWWWWWWW!", but, meh. Beyond the fact that I don't want to have to witness it, if it works for the parties involved, I can't say I object. It's consentual.

Well, I don't object to the acts. The fact that people out there can be compelled to sell their bodies, even their lives, for what we might consider to be a meager amount of money is objectionable in the respect that it highlights the poverty of these nations. To me, it's this poverty, and not the prostitution, that's messed up.

(And since this was presented in the main BDSM forum as a "haha, there are male prostitutes, too!" sort of thing, I'd like to point out that it often strikes me that prositutes generally receive less respect- not that they're villified. Such is the case, regardless of gender; while I wouldn't villify this male prostitute, I also haven't respect for his choice of lifestyle. He is, in the most literal of senses, a man whore.)

No offense to any "old people", just, please understand this is from the prospective of someone my age. The article mentioned that many of the women were 30 or so years older than this 24-year old guy, who is already older than me. That's 54, which is over two and a half times my age.

What the fuck is all the hangup about, folks? We are too well-informed to believe sex belongs to some kind of fairy tale ideal, together with pouffy dresses and birds tweeting in the trees. Sex is beautiful, sex is ugly, sex is clean and messy, sex is senseless, sex is full of meaning, sex has nothing to do with morality, sex is in a league of its own, sex is what we make of it for ourselves. I have seen so many posts on these forums condoning prostitution as perfectly acceptable... These women who seek adventures in foreign lands aren't even buying the sex.

You don't remember being young, not wanting to see your grandparents naked? I'm under the impression that, as a human body decays and one becomes more accustomed to such a reality, it's less "EWWW" and more "Oh, that's normal."

We're all human, and, if we live long enough, we'll all get to that stage. So it's not an insult. It's just, honestly, it's not easy on the mental eye to imagine having sex with someone over two and a half times your age.

Hmmmm... I realise you are merely an overgrown fetus, curiouslord, but one could hardly call me 'old'. And I'm certainly still young, all things being relative (and I look fucking good as well).

As for seeing parents naked... I was brought up in the seventies in France... need I say more? We'd spend summers on Corsican beaches totally in the buff. It made me rather oblivious to nakedeness.

Bah, there's a ways to go from parents being naked at the beach to grandparents having kinky old-people sex. And even that falls short of a young person doing an old person, which this story is about.

And, no, no, I'm not calling you old, nor implying anything negative about people who happen to have more life experience. As juliaoceania mentioned, there's no reason to feel bashed by comments such as those I'm making. People just naturally feel differently about physical aspects at different ages.

And, yes, when I'm 54, I won't be expecting 21-year old girls to think I'm sexy. And, yes, one day, they'll be 54, and, you know what? They (hopefully) won't be expecting 21-year old guys to think they're sexy.

Not that any of this matters, since artifical intelligences will have long conquered the human race by then, but, meh, you know what I mean.

Thank you... I wasn't feeling personally bashed... It seems to me the horror expressed at the thought of older women 'doing it' with strapping young men from Kenya stems from sexist and ethnic prejudice more than anything.

I witnessed things like that in Tunisia. There were a lot of rather large German and Dutch women sprawled out on the beach 'doing business' with young Tunisian waiters... it was a little off-putting, but then again, any blatant sexual desperation is off-putting. I mean, from the age of ten I've had men from all walks of life trying to lure their way into my hymen. Yuck.

I find the sexual desperation of a spotty 18 year old boy with a shiny face and armpits smelling of onions altogether as off-putting as that of a middle-aged or even 'old' person.
