i have delicate bone structure.  dainty wrists and ankles, and a good bit of meat wrapped around those dainty bones.  *laughs*  i weigh more than i should.  i weigh nearly 50 pounds less than i did a little over 2 years ago...and still losing weight, although tis slowed down.  i'm in a loose 16 down from a 24 jeans.  not bad for a short gal (i'm 5'2" if i stretch).

wolf and Daddy love me just as i am.  if i didnt have health issues that are non-weight related, i'd be doing quite well at the moment. as it stands, i'm not.  but then again neurological/immune system problems are not related to weight.

i like myself.  i dont like some bits and pieces...i'd like less belly and more butt please!  but my bustline isnt bad.

kitten, who is still in trouble with Daddy for not taking adequate care of his property, so am off to rest like i was told.

Not quite accurate.

Snopes.com is your friend and even gives you her dimensions which are substantially larger than a 5-7.  They put her at a current day size 12 by American standards.

It is said that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14 dress.  And that would be most lovely with me to see my slave in such an outfit.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

(Personal pet peeve)

People always say this, without realizing that the sizes within the clothing industry are not only not standardized, but that a 1950s size 14 is not a modern size 14. I currently wear a size 10 in modern clothing; however, in 1950s clothing, my size is an 18/20 - which equates to a 30-31" waist in both instances. (A vintage size 14 is roughly a 25-26" waist, whereas a modern size 14 is closer to a 32-34" waist.)

I stand corrected.  I know that there are variances in women's clothing sizes but I've never researched them or run into a situation where I had to know such things.

I've always been told "Just give me money and I'll do the buying" which works out well for me since being 1) color-deficient and 2) a male means I'm permanently at two strikes in the women's fashion department.  Blue jeans and button-down shirts don't require much fashion ability on my end.*

I've learned to say from my earliest relationships, "It looks fine to me and I'd love you just as much if you weren't wearing anything!"

*For the record, I do have friends (mostly female) who understand my deficiencies and will accompany me on shopping trips where I have to buy some new "Going to church/date/wedding/funeral" clothes.

I don't care how it's described, whether it's big boned, plus sized, pudgy, chubby, curvy, thick, or squishy.  I do know that you don't have to be thin to be beautiful.  Ladies, just embrace your size.  Who cares if you have a little extra padding.  Mistress is larger than me and while She would prefer to be a little smaller, She is the most beautiful woman in the world to me.  I absolutely LOVE the way She looks...I love the extra padding She has.  She is beautiful to me.  The only way I'd ever want Her to lose weight would be for Her health.  As for Her appearance, I tell Her She needs another cookie!  In other words, ladies, big is beautiful!

Personally i do not see big boned as being the same as a BBW.

For me big boned is more a term i would use for a woman who looks thin but is of a larger stature than the average woman. A BBW is a woman who would simply be overweight.

I understand you need to quantify things like "thin", what is thin, how do you determine what is thin, bla bla bla ....
Personally i prefer BBW women, I love curves, I love having stuff to play with :)

This is one time that I don't believe Snopes, my mother was the same size as Marilyn and she thought I could wear her size 16 wedding dress in the 80s, I couldn't then but later when I was a size 9 it fit.  Last year my 16 year old size 3 neice tried on my size 9 clothes and they were barely big on her.

Marilyn was too curvy to wear Jr clothes, but she would be in small women's clothing.

Does it really matter if someone is 'big boned' or 'small boned?'  Isn't if they are healthy what matters in the long run?!

Consequently, I have a small frame; I'm also 5'10 and am about 134.  I can be at 145 or 150, and few people would notice, I would, so it's not gonna happen unless I am expecting a little one, I don't feel healthy when I get that much weight on me.  As far as 'sizes' go, manufactures now use 'vanity' sizing, in otherwords, they cut clothes a bit bigger and put a smaller size in them.  A woman who use to wear a 10 can now wear an 8 or a 7 depending on the designer.

I LOATHE shopping, so I try to keep my weight about the same, so if I HAVE to shop, I have an idea already of what size to try on, an I already know what i am looking for; I can get in and out of a store in less than 15 or 20 minutes, including trying things on; while other ladies would spend over an hour.  It's about the fit, not the size that I go by; I use the model trick and I cut the [size] tags out of my clothing after I buy things.

Big boned is what people used to call larger women before there was BBW.

As a rule of thumb, 'average' dress size for a woman today is the inch part of your height (5'3" for example) plus 3.  So, size 6.  If you're 5'11", that would be size 14, etc.

This is one of the reasons why I laugh a little when men say they're looking for someone 'size 8 or smaller', because they're after an ideal which simply wouldn't work for a taller woman.

I wear a size 4 most of the time; I am considered 'small.'  You CAN be tall, be thin AND be healthy.  Are you saying I'm too thin??  Who came up with that forumla to add 3?!

I'm 5'10 barefoot, 5'11 if I do all the streatching I am suppose to be doing.  You CAN be tall AND be thin.  Don't make statements that have no merit.  I have found no complaints with my size or shape from men, tyvm.  Most love that I am tall AND thin and STILL very healthy.

One of the men I have had a few dates with is a doctor and he agreed that I can carry about 10 or 15 more and still be considered healthy, but, right now, I am still healthy and none of the medical professionals I have seen over the years have had any complaints.

I feel I am still too fat because I actually have small bones for my height. I am a size 10 and 5 foot 10. Most would not consider me to be overweight, but I know that if I lost 10 to 15 lbs I would be where I am supposed to be. I am extremely fit and look ok so I do not worry about it, but I know I should weigh less than I do because I have small bones...

My problem with losing weight is that it happens in my face first, where I cannot afford to lose any!
I go for toning with my knock off bowflex and my elliptical instead.

Im 5'11 and *mumbles...weigh much more than the dietitian at work says I should weigh. She says 135 at my heaviest. My Doctor says what?!..Is she crazy?! So, who do you believe? My blood work says Im great! My SweetUm thinks Im beautiful and after all those years of just struggling to accept myself when all of Hollywood says I shouldnt Im FINALLY happy with me as a person. That's right ~ a person! I find sooo many women pretty for more things than just their size. Their sense of humor, pretty eye color, a bright smile, quick wit, work ethics...The girls I work with are consumed with what "they" say is beautiful, whoever THEY is..I stopped reading the glam magazines about what "pretty is" and began to just look at people for who they are. I find myself much more content in my abilites and my own prettiness since I left behind Hollywood's ideas of beauty. Ya know, they are just wanting to sell more products and if they can make every woman believe she is ugly without thier products or insight then they OWN you. Money talks. If they get you to feel badly about yourself just enough then you'll buy what they want to sell.
I work with a girl who is much smaller and shorter than I am. It really drives her crazy that she wears a size 10 ring and I wear a size 7 ring. Why would it matter?!! So, she's dieting because of that! fat fingers..who would have thought that out of ALL  my wonderful qualities my long slender fingers would be her envy...LOL...*decides to polish her nails now just to be bratty...

I've been pondering this thread since i read it earlier this afternoon. As i said when i posted i used to hide the fact from myself that i was fat (size 16/18 Uk) by saying i was big boned.
I have a friend who also does the same thing. She is a size 24 Uk and has all sorts of issues because of her weight including back problems, breathing problems etc etc. When she goes to the docs he tries to encourage her to lose weight for her health and she just comes away saying, he is wrong and its not her fault shes big boned.
So my questions would be where do you cross the line of being big boned into being fat?
Do terms like big boned not do more harm than good when we can hide behind them from a possible real obesity problem?
